I was thinking I should go see my father's grave today and tell him he flew around the pacific ocean for 3 years dropping bombs and barely making it back to base, for nothing. We just gave it all away for cheap gas and bigotry. But he died 20 years ago, and already knew that, and everyone's going up there to glorify war, so he'll forgive me for staying home. He would.

My uncle was a contemporary of his from silent movie days, and used to brag he taught Wayne his stupid but iconic walk, so I learned some inside Hollywood stuff from a long time ago. Wayne was a reagan republican, and a gentleman, mostly. He was best man at my uncle's wedding. Don't know anything about Heston personally, except he was conservative.

Japanese maple red emperor planted 11 years ago. I got the seedling from a specimen tree when it was less than a foot tall. Haven't touched a leaf on its head since, not sure if I should prune it.
