I laugh really hard when some retard says wikipedia is bad because its "woke" or whatever (not like they're real people anyway). I understand the logic of the term but i also think some wikipedia contributors secretly laugh at the political bias that occurs because its genuinely not what wikipedia is really about. its such a damn awesome source in terms of summarization and actually providing sources. I will never understand the logic because wikipedia is fucking TOOL for people who arent retarded and want to learn (but cant due to any sort of reason like shitty school systems) and its the best way now to brainwash people into learning new shit and finding sources and rabbithole things.
Its probably not the original purpose of wikipedia and the owners are a little weird and funny, but its certainly (has the potential to) advancing aspects of society because we can just search shit and find a wikipedia article thats well cited and debated. It's not perfect either but the fact that it just gives sources for shit is more than justifiable than any politically correct slop that is written that people complain about.
I can explain my high school experiences well enough to say that our entire school system in America is completely fucked and the teachers are the issue though. The only people at this point who are "gonna make it" NEED the internet (which is why you see younger people go on about "how would we live without the internet bruhhh😭😭") because we're fucking retarded.
Im writing this in the context where i assume none of my followers are Amerifats and live in probably more advanced societies where you get out of "high schools" at like 14 or 16 or something. We get out at 18 and then we are fed college and the social aspect ive 95% picked up of that now is "get through it lmao" because thats how all of high school is thrown at people here (one of my teachers would laugh at this idea and i really envied him). Half of our issues are likely accounting for "disabilities" and shit but we would be so fucking retarded if we just didnt have to adapt disability shit for everyone else in the planet.

i remember compiling/porting some firmware/rom on android and it also took >16 gb (yes, MORE than 16 gb...) to compile it all, which is MORE than i have. I had to fucking go to cwm on x11 and switch to disk swap JUST to get it to work. I dont think any engineers at Google are competent with that shit.

everyone loves to say haha schizopilled quirky lol schizo (stfu nigger) but for a good while now i actually have been having / noticing a shit ton of the symptoms (mainly the erratic out-of-order thinking, had this since i was younger but more noticable now ESPECIALLY when talking to people at work), even to a degree things like hearing things and seeing things in the corner of my eye and just being frozen (i have no clue if the "hearing/seeing things" is due to how our brain recognizes patterns or if i actually solidly see things for a good amount of time)
obviously i have my own set of mental issues im sure youd think in a teenage white girl. dunno if i should see a doctor tho (at least yet because i know this kind of thing onsets later) , i dont remember shit from when i took a psych class. I could also just be having psychotic episodes (???) where i kind of mentally break down like that but not really a symtom of an underlying issue.

Openbsd security is great, but sometimes overdone, at most I always enable SMT to squeeze out a few more cores (even linux recommends you disable this to be fair though).
Its crazy that people always talk about OpenBSD security (very very good, but we need something like Jails although afaik chroots are heavily protected), but its userspace is outstandingly good too.

It rapes Linux at the server realm as long as you don't depend on proprietary linux server programs or make supercomputer servers like at Google. Most stuff you do comes out of the box (openhttpd, acme-client [for domains and certs], opensmtpd, ssh [wow!], spamd, openntpd, doas,), whats insane is how quality these software are, even the config format is all shared the same and generally speaking things really "just work", compared to having to even ape something like Apache on linux and constant config checking, dont even get my started on postfix and certbot (aids); cron jobs for things 100% work without bullshit like dns.
Linux may win the desktop market but for some reason its really hard to compete with OpenBSD when it comes to incredible software, especially out of the box without thinking of touching pkg_add. For fucks sake if you use emacs you can use mg, the defaults on the OS are just incredible, it truly feels like an actual operating system to me.......

Slackware was one i looked at but i'd need a slackware user to tell me how slackware is before I just install it. There's CRUX too but I don't see why i'd use that over Arch, as it's also rolling.

You can absolutely run an old frontend (like this one) and somethings like Ackkoma make it a primary thing to run your own frontend. Arguably if you want I could even hack up an older, more stable version of PleromaFE to maybe at bare-minimum support for QRT (which was recently added to Pleroma and might be the root issue fucking everything up) :happyday:. The latest PleromaFE is slow as nuts and genuinely made me come to this instance to a degree because I hated the new PleromaFE's performance. I also believe it has smooth migration stuff too but you can't spell Smooth in anything related to Pleroma

@npub1fy0…zn9y Mainly what that means is that Mastodont-c is designed to "work" out of the box. Without the dependency, the user can't just use the same exact code that secretly depends on libcurl. It will error out unless they "compile" with Libcurl support (and by eliminating the loose-dependency, then its a requirement)
And also ,nobody wants to call some Mastodon api functions only for it to fail out because they have to hook in their own HTTP library.

For those curious, Mastodont-c has a hard dependency on libcurl, but i'm trying to separate it so you can use things like libsoup, or anything special of the sort.
Libcurl will still be a required, forced dependency due to it's potential uses, but it's not a requirement to use.
