IQ tests were administered to the defendants at the Nuremberg trials and the hierarchy within the third reich almost perfectly mapped onto cognitive performance.
The scores ranged from a high of 141 to a low of 106, which belonged to Julius Streicher. Streicher was universally ridiculed within Party as being an idiot and Goring (138) openly despised him for being so stupid.

The European Union styles itself as the defender of democracy in some acme of hypocrisy, but its institutions are technically undemocratic. The European Parliament holds no legislative initiative. Bills are proposed by the Commission and voted on by the Parliament and Council of the European Union. The only body of the seven European institutions to be elected by the citizenry (the Parliament) cannot craft laws at the pleasure of the citizenry. The thing is an unaccountable bureaucracy and it is riddled with technocratic idealists.

Elon’s all server-side thinking I guess but Apple’s product lineup looks set to be a hero for local inference. MLX, Universal Memory and Apple Silicon make reasonably large models accessible to pro consumers and hobbyists. Exo labs + mac studios can get pretty sophisticated jobs done.
In an ideal near-future, households would have a locally run always-on model with full access to the owner’s personal data. It would act as a mediating layer to interact with frontier models to carry out long-horizon tasks for the household without leaking sensitive data to third-parties.

2026-01-10 13:25:14 GMT

A Nostr client with an integrated Small Language Model to handle timeline recommendations would be elite.
It would read through and tag content posted to relays and populate a ‘For You’ feed, without exporting user data to a third-party for profiling. It could also work across nsecs and if the user’s preferences were stored as a .json then it could be shared between the user’s devices. It would need to be sufficiently lightweight to run on local hardware or an iPhone’s neural engine to handle everything privately. Ideally, you would be able to tweak its recommendation via natural language conversations.

Without an existing National Service system in the U.K., it’s difficult to predict exactly how a draft would be organised. While the U.S. maintains the Selective Service System that requires the registration of all 18-25 year-old men, and nations with active draft systems like Singapore, Taiwan, and Israel conscript new adults, this may not be the modus operandi of a modern draft. Ukraine has notably not opted for this system. The Ukrainians instead chose a *minimum* age of 27 for draftees and only under pressure from inadequate recruiting have floated the idea of lowering this minimum age to 25. The Western World suffers from top-heavy populations that skew towards mature adults & elderly. There have been too few children to fill the ranks of future workforces much less take massive casualties in peer war. The same number of babies are born each year in the U.S. today as were born in 1955 (around 4 million) despite the U.S. having doubled its 1955 population.

It’s a complex one with important pros and cons on either side.
The cons to supporting Ukrainian independence is of course the Sino-Russian alliance. China is too damned threatening for the Anglos / Transatlantics to be getting distracted by the Russians.
But on the other hand, the war in Ukraine has far-reaching implications for the Three Seas Initiative (3SI). The 3SI is an economic and infrastructure grouping among the Eastern European counties (those post-Soviet states from Estonia in the North to Bulgaria and Croatia in the south), which is culturally different to Western Europe and becoming increasingly concerned with the apparent authoritarianism of the left-wing EU parties.
The 3SI is lead primarily by Poland and may, in the future, arrest some control over the European Union away from the Franco-German progressives. However, this will to a large degree depend on the outcome of the Ukraine war.
The twelve 3SI states currently possess 223 seats in the European Parliament (compared to 231 held by France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg). If Ukraine is admitted, with its 40+ million citizens, then the 3SI will likely command around 265 seats.
This means that a strong 3SI might actually bring about a legitimate conservative faction within European politics, but it depends on the level of economic and political autonomy of the eastern states.
The 3SI is punting heavily on LNG to secure its base load power requirements (which is, of course, pissing off the Western Europeans to no end). The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF) is building out LNG terminals, pipelines, generators etc, which is hoped to supply them with cheap and reliable energy to underpin their economic growth in the years ahead. In 2012, Ukraine discovered 2.3 trillion cubic metres of natural gas under its share of the black sea.
If the Ukrainians win the war then they will almost certainly accede to the 3SI (as they will be tremendously politically indebted to Poland and other members of the Bucharest 9). In that case, Ukraine will be able to underwrite the economic development of Eastern Europe with cheap and reliable energy. It’s reasonable to assume that this will lead to a rebalancing of political power within the EU as well.
At the moment, the two major parties within the EU are the Socialist Democrats (S&D) and the European People’s Party (EPP). While the EPP claims to be conservative, by Anglo standards it is also progressive left. This means that the EU presently does not have non-progressive representation in Government.
The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) is a conservative party (free market economics, free speech, national autonomy etc) and is most successful in the eastern European 3SI states (chiefly in Poland). Depending on how quickly the 3SI can develop economically, within a decade we might see a legitimate counterweight in Europe. Victory in Ukraine will not only grant the 3SI more seats in Parliament than Western Europe, but will also expedite the attainment of economic autonomy (and therefore, political autonomy) in the post-Soviet states.

A decentralised store of value is not enough. Developed capital markets perform other functions as well, like lending (“inter-temporal consumption”), which requires the aggregation of funds from small savers, risk-sharing, separation of ownership & management etc. BTC might open the door for new entrants into financial markets once again, but complementary services that underpin modern capital markets will need to be built as well. One might be decentralised credit scores (perhaps credit scores for public keys to open the door for anonymisation) etc.
A decentralised currency for the vox populi is a crucial and fundamental first step, but capital markets are multivariate machines.

“Indigenous Australians need a voice to Parliament”
Ahem — what do you think a Parliament *is*?
Indigenous Australians already have a voice in Parliament — it’s called *the Parliament*. We have universal suffrage so indigenous Australians, like all Australians, are represented in Parliament.
Not to mention that there are already 11 (eleven) indigenous senators and Members of Parliament in the Federal Government. That’s ~5% of Parliament. What portion of the Australian population is indigenous? 3.2% per the 2021 census. Seems to me that if you wish to salami slice the population along racial lines (and you shouldn’t) then representation exists in proportionate abundance.
So what is it that Labor’s seeking in the Voice to Parliament? Labor’s remaining strategically ambiguous about its aspirations for this Constitutionally-mandated body so we’ll have to look elsewhere for what could come of this.
Senator Alex Antic considers it a third chamber of Parliament. Unelected by the majority of Australians (who will be subject to whatever unspecified powers it will manifest). Former PM, Tony Abbott, regards it more broadly as a fourth branch of Government enshrined in the Constitution. Indigenous political campaigner, *literal communist* (as in the former Communist Party of Australia), and driver of The Voice, Thomas Mayo, has a few thoughts of his own.
He’s been at it again, spilling his beans this way and that way. He has now publicly solidified his ambitions by stating that the Voice will grant this indigenous council (odious race-based political body) the ability to “get its hands” on Australia’s superannuation policy.
Yuck. No. Hideous, bad, awful, terrible, stop it. No.

That’s a pretty tall order, mate. You can’t even use the USD in most nations to conduct basic transactions despite its unique status. I think a decent litmus test will be the ability for a devoted experimenter to live on nothing but BTC for a year. I suspect that would involve leasing a room as a sub-tenant, buying food in bulk from a farmers market, plenty of p2p trades for second-hand goods, and potentially conscripting intermediaries to purchase products / services from registered businesses and paying the intermediary in BTC. I imagine it’s fully doable if your’e committed but you’d probably need to be committed — at least where I’m living. In some hypothetical scenario where CBDCs placed quotas on lifestyle, the difficulty would be getting businesses to transact with BTC lest the tax office comes down on their head on various creative justifications.
But to actually answer your Q, I’d say hyperbitcoinisation might be somewhat common acceptance of BTC by banks for mortgages or landlords for leasing.
