@nprofile…np2h They don’t make it easy to find out about. Stockport events are on this google spreadsheet which isn’t linked from their website 🤪 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EowzhP2RWAuh9XlNpga3nnhWAS9WO038DQYZVLNXSVU/htmlview#gid=276432639

@nprofile…np2h @nprofile…p28m @nprofile…28vt Element Games in Stockport run a regular “War Boot” event for second hand stuff. Maybe the London store does one?

As a kid I learnt to say the alphabet backwards thanks to a trick in a book called "The Whizzkid's Handbook". Adult me taught the trick to my nieces and they loved it... now I've just discovered that the book has been scanned into the Internet Archive and so I can share it with you lovely bunch.

@nprofile…c066 Not demeaning at all! I appreciate your honesty!
For years I’ve stuck with my Mac because despite issues the “it just works” mantra has held true… but I can feel things slipping, especially seeing what AI is doing to Microsoft products.
I feel like Linux would only be a stepping stone for me and I’d end up on BSD anyway. The philosophy sits more comfortably with me, plus I cut my teeth on Unix in my first “proper” job many years ago.

@nprofile…c066 But just because I can, does that mean I should?
I love my Mac but Liquid Glass and AI creep aren’t my vibe. And I’m not loving Tim Apple’s sucking up to Trump.
Just need to pick some hardware I guess…

Maybe 2026 will finally be the year I do enough reading to actually build a #BSD desktop.

Had hoped to get these guys finished today but need more time on the skin and it’s too cold in the attic to carry on.
These guys bring me tantalisingly close to a 1k army.
