I found this episode extremely interesting. I don’t understand a few subtleties, I think, but the general topic of the funding model of the web ecosystem, and the particular topic of repercussions of the DOJ requests in the Google antitrust case are fascinating, + there’s so much at stake.
I feel there’s a way to systemically approach funding of what Alex Moore calls “the Commons”, so that it’s not “tragic”, but I can’t grasp it.

I just found out that I took today off as well, not just tomorrow this week!
(I didn't find out myself, a colleague of mine reminded me in private message!)

This instance sign-up reason really sends mixed signals:
> " I wan't an account because I need to get my life big and I'm trying to do it at a fast pace cuz my life and my kids have been taken and I need help ASAP."

Sometimes the reasons supplied for signing-up are funny, sometimes they're really odd!
I'll share the best ones in thread.

When I look at the "reason to join" people supply, I'm mighty glad that the @npub1tl7…6j09 Mastodon instance requires approval for sign-up!
Plus, it's the one barrier that exists to prevent spamming bots.
Approval required for sign-up should be the default!

heh, for what is worth, when I looked at the site today, the first thing on display was a warning that due to demand the delivery was likely going to be impacted and they thank people for being patient!

I wish I could fiddle with that stuff to make my own solution.

In case it doesn’t make it to the cut, here’s my explanation of one of the roles of the @npub1tl7…6j09 team in helping shepherding web standards

I have a chat / interview upcoming for work (that isn't a job interview) that takes place somewhere on the Web called recording[.]zencaster and I'm anything but "zen"!
I do look forward to it, though!

Wow, I'm editing a web page that is *so old* it starts with <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML//EN">

The term of the day is... “gladiatorial dialectic”
... coined by a very clever and astuce colleague of mine.
Can you tell our work puts us in contact with very arrogant white tech bros? 😅
I wish #WebStandards work interactions were more Care Bears and less Cult of Chuckie
