Last Notes npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel this is something thatâs been bugging me. Itâs clear why insurance companies lobby so hard against Medicare for all. Why donât all the other corporations lobby for it? Healthier employees come to work more. Not having to subsidize their healthcare improves the companyâs profits (making the assumption theyâre greedy and donât use it to increase worker pay). And even if they donât offer subsidized healthcare theyâd still have improvements with reduced sick leave. So what gives? npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel WA state is amazing. Automatic registration when you get a drivers license and your ballot appears in your mailbox. If you donât trust USPS to return it (or back in the day wanted to save the cost of the stamp) there are a ton of drop boxes around town (at least in Seattle, canât speak for the rest of the state). npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel Stella wanted to sleep in this morning, who am I to say no? npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel âif you can be boosted, you can be quoted. this shouldnât be controversial.â npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel My oldest is retaking calc, struggling with understanding derivatives. He wants to really get how they work, not just push symbols. He has a low tolerance for frustration; I try to explain and he throws his hands in the air. It was the same when he took it in high school. So Iâll be spending my flight to LA digging into my old calc book to see if I can improve my explanations. npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel my husband spent his HS years in TX and he absolutely insists yâall is singular and all yâall is plural. npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel itâs funny how it all looks relative though. I went to Germany on a business trip, back when I lived in San Francisco, and my coworker picked me up in his VW. I commented how big it seemed and asked him about which model he was driving, it was a Golf. đ This was particularly funny because I drive a GTI (same body, different engine) but at home my car seems tiny. npub1eldj6w5lu93kclzstykerh4lp96snr6xzwlqkrcmsvy9n2zkx5ds6xrjsh Mel At long last I can post the finished Regency dress I spent all spring working on. I wore it to the Costume College Saturday night gala. Photography courtesy of Mark Edwards. #CoCo24 #MakingCostumes #Sewing
