Is there any forced retirement of rigs? If they get too old, or are beyond repair for any reason? This is all edge case stuff, but important to know. I very much see this as a long term investment. npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc Btw I canāt zap you, not sure whoās side itās on, Iām just on primal https://blossom.primal.net/d415cda763e4d4fa419e71f5214c6adad328f52f430b22479306163a46b2effa.jpg npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc Sazmining is an awesome idea, and everything makes sense to me for the service cost and all that. But I have one question. If I buy a mining rig from sazmining, and it runs for a few months, but then has some sort of hardware failure, letās say repairable, do I pay for the repairs? Or if it breaks and is not reparable, is there any sort of warranty period on the rigs? npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc OK I think I see what you are saying. So I agree, a miners target isnāt to satisfy all nodes, and there is no code to detect a nodes intent on the network⦠but where I am thinking differently is on the point of āif a node is economically not very active, then it doesnāt mean much in consensusā That doesnāt seem right to me. If a miner finds a block, it sends it out as fast as possible to as many nodes as possible in the hopes that they all accept and share the block further along. All* nodes act like both a final destination and like a relay at the same time. One node cannot tell if another node has a lot of monetary velocity on it, or not. Now to correct myself on the * What I would definitely agree on is that nodes that only listen, and do not have outgoing connections to other nodes are not very useful, and may as well not be there in terms of greater consensus of the network. Itās like having someone in a room that disagrees and does not speak out about it. Those ālistening onlyā nodes I would see in the same way as what you are describing, but I donāt think they are the same as an economic node, am I right in saying that? I very much appreciate the discussion too. Not many Bitcoiners in person near to me, so online is the only form of coms I have for now! npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc So, this is an interesting point, and maybe I can use the example to better explain myself. At the risk of sound like an idiot⦠: What is an economic node, and what practically makes that node different to other nodes? Realistically, like you say itās trivial for a determined person to spin up 1000s of nodes a little cost. So, in my mind the only reasons why this attack could not work is that there are enough Bitcoiners that run their own nodes, and follow their own rules (letās call it true Bitcoin consensus rules), no matter if there are 1000s of other nodes who are saying something different. In the real world though, those 1000s of spun up nodes only point to 1 attacker, 1 entity. Assuming the community members are stead fast enough, they will follow their own rules, and so, even though the attacker has the greater node count, the community refuses to change. I guess there could cause chain splits at this point⦠which would bring mining into the convo⦠so if mining supports the attacker node software, then they get the longest chain, we loose. But this in my mind is then a mining centralisation attack. I see that this is sort of contradictory to my previous message though, where I stated that āthe majority node count should winā, I guess Iām still working though it in my head⦠npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc @nprofileā¦v72v The PWA works great, and adding an app is more to maintain⦠What is the benefit for making the app? npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc I genuinely donāt see how this is the case, and would like you ask for help in understanding. Iāve thought about it a little in the past, about whether a node is a node, or if some are more important than others, but I canāt come to a satisfactory conclusion. if 10 000s of nodes enforce a change on the hobbyist side, but some key nodes donāt enforce it (such as from miners) then I think that the node count will win. This is because the miners have more to loose than the hobbyists, and so will probably match their node software to what majority of the network is on, where they are least likely to mine rejected blocks. Whether I am right or wrong with this statement, I can atleast see points from both sides, so it makes sense to me as an arguable point. But in the case of the 10 000s nodes vs āeconomic nodesā⦠I really donāt see how a node that has more Bitcoin associated to it has any say. Itās not like they have any more connections than other nodes, they are the same as any other node on the network so far as I understand. This is what leads to my confusion really⦠how is a bitcoin node even classified as āeconomicā? Perhaps I am misunderstanding what has been termed economic. It does not necessarily mean to have more Bitcoin associated to it. As I type this, maybe itās more about public nodes that many people look to? Like Seth for privacyās node, or block streems node, coinbase node. Would those be concidered economic nodes as they likely influence a large host of users who donāt/canāt run their own nodes for services? Is there something else I am missing ? Some influence I am not taking into account? npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc Geometry in a dimension that we cannot comprehend npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc @npub10vkā¦y3ep Iād like to ask, how is the effective life of a miner dealt with ? Say I were to buy a miner, it mines for a year, but then suddenly it breaks, or something is wrong and you no longer run it for me. I am forced to buy another then correct? Is there any sort of garentee on the running life of a purchased miner? Thanks! npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc Calm seas never made for a good sailer. npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc Is able* to spend this on chain Bitcoin npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc No currently your primal address does not link to an on chain address. What you might be referring to was the āon chain zapā thing that was popular a while back. How that worked is that, people could send on chain Bitcoin to you by acquiring an address drerived from your nostr public key. Your nostr private key (due to the magic of cryptography ) is about to spend this on chain Bitcoin. The catch here is that this is a reused address, so has got bad privacy trade offs, and is just generally impractical. You donāt need to worry about channel closures if using primal wallet. You should research into unilateral exit from the spark protocol when you are ready, but this is an edge case thing, probably not urgent, but good to know none the less. npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc So⦠this was correct about a month or 2 ago. There have been recent updates to primal wallet structure. Primal now uses something called Spark. The main benefit is that users control the funds totally now (there are some technical Ts and Cs here, but for now just assume this is the case, then dive further into spark risk trade-off when you are ready), but the convenience of not having to worry about channels etc, is still abstracted away. So, primal donāt have to worry about holding user funds, and donāt have to sacrifice convenience and ease of use. npub1f6awu2p3pu9ffe6297edx4fydx0xwa9072gq7mdulanseyt8afaq3kzqxf rfc You know⦠thatās a nice simple way to put it.
