10-15 years later after many stops and starts, Skate 4 finally gets released as an early beta this month as Skate on console platforms.
This was my most anticipated game in ten years and the first version is kind of terrible.

The Skate 1-3 series was an incredible open world skateboarding game with controls that felt incredibly natural. You’d move your sticks in the same directions as your feet and toes on a real board doing real tricks. The open world was incredibly open and free to explore.

The wild thing is his profile was a random old man with an American name, and the typos and mannerisms tracked with a weird old American man, but looking back I realize he had no pictures of his previous work then suddenly produced some because he did a google image search.

I joined a Facebook group for a specific lawn mower brand that was so obscure it required a quiz to get in. Once in, I ask if anyone has rewired their mower would help me do a rewiring upgrade and that I'd pay.
Instant DM from a guy who has done them before in my area, wants $500. I ask a couple specific technical questions and he gets weird, so I tell him thanks, but no thanks.
A day later he starts DMing again and that's when Facebook finally reveals he's in Nigeria and it's probably a scam.

I got added to a new org's Google Apps account this week. I load up the all-team calendar and see there's a regular meeting on Wednesday at 10am.
Around 9am today, I double-check my calendar and the meeting was already over because it started at 8am.
The company is in the central time zone but Google Calendar failed to reflect that for over 48hrs.
Great job, Google.

I once met a truly #SuperbOwl at a tech conference right on the water's edge in San Francisco. The event had large outdoor areas for people to eat lunch and hang out, so it turns out—you hire a falconry expert if you want to keep the seagulls from bothering attendees. A couple flights from one owl before the doors opened meant no gulls ventured overhead for the entire day.

What I also love about Signal is that under the hood, it's all the wants and wishes of PGP email from 30 years ago, but without all the difficult email client and lock/key handshakes required of PGP back in the day.
It just works smoothly like every other messaging app, but that one is the most safe. If you dig into it, you can get your checksums and keys and shit, but it doesn't expose it to every user in order to start adopting it.
I love nerdy stuff with good UX, and Signal has it.

The funny thing is the first person (that didn't work in digital security) that insisted we only use Signal to talk was my therapist when I first met her 5-6 years ago. I asked her why and she said she didn't want doctor/patient messages to ever be readable by health insurance companies at any point in the future. I obliged.
It's good to know years later, every message we've ever sent was end to end encrypted and not logged anywhere on anyone's servers.
