TL:DR; The Salesforce CEO at a company's annual all hands gathering asked international employees to please rise in the audience, then made a "joke" that ICE agents were in the back of the room ready to nab them.

Just watched ten minutes of the Trump/Zelenskyy/Vance meeting in the White House and what an utter fucking embarrassment to watch two petulant children bully Ukraine into surrender and complain that they're not being thanked enough for it. Just utterly pathetic from the narcissitic shitheads running the USA now.

Load this feed up, and jump to about 12 minutes into the press conference, when they first announce the killing of the LA to SF rail line. The boos continue for the remainder of the event

It's amazing and refreshing to see Trump's cabinet members facing backlash immediately in front of their faces. This will become the new norm. They're now chanting "coward! coward!" in unison.
It's glorious. These ghouls need to know how their cruel decisions affect people directly, to their faces.

The boos are so loud you can barely hear the bullshit coming out of the podium, but they're saying it's a giant waste and ugly scar on California, it's so fucking stupid to not build high speed rail and make everyone fly on a stupid ass plane from LA to SF.

I'm watching the announcement of how California is going to kill its high speed rail project and there's resounding boos while the people on stage (the stupid assholes) saying it's a waste and laughing at the thousands of protestors. https://abc7.com/post/transportation-secretary-sean-duffy-make-announcement-california-high-speed-rail-project-los-angeles-thursday/15937236/

Opening a new Google account, you get blasted with Gemini AI bullshit upsells at every click. I've had a Gmail account since 2004, so I had no idea what the first day experience was like, but it's "let AI write your emails" and "shouldn't you be using AI to finish this sentence?" all the time.

A thing me and my fellow liberals need to let go of is pointing out right wing hypocrisy. It feels good when we notice it but they have not given a fuck about their own hypocrisy for the last 50+yrs.

I got added to a new org's Google Apps account this week. I load up the all-team calendar and see there's a regular meeting on Wednesday at 10am.
Around 9am today, I double-check my calendar and the meeting was already over because it started at 8am.
The company is in the central time zone but Google Calendar failed to reflect that for over 48hrs.
Great job, Google.

I once met a truly #SuperbOwl at a tech conference right on the water's edge in San Francisco. The event had large outdoor areas for people to eat lunch and hang out, so it turns out—you hire a falconry expert if you want to keep the seagulls from bothering attendees. A couple flights from one owl before the doors opened meant no gulls ventured overhead for the entire day.

You know I’d be more inclined to give $$$ to the DNC if they were speaking up, demonstrating a coherent opposition and lots of other stuff that’s actually free and doesn’t need citizen funding (which would flood in later without anyone asking)

What I also love about Signal is that under the hood, it's all the wants and wishes of PGP email from 30 years ago, but without all the difficult email client and lock/key handshakes required of PGP back in the day.
It just works smoothly like every other messaging app, but that one is the most safe. If you dig into it, you can get your checksums and keys and shit, but it doesn't expose it to every user in order to start adopting it.
I love nerdy stuff with good UX, and Signal has it.

The funny thing is the first person (that didn't work in digital security) that insisted we only use Signal to talk was my therapist when I first met her 5-6 years ago. I asked her why and she said she didn't want doctor/patient messages to ever be readable by health insurance companies at any point in the future. I obliged.
It's good to know years later, every message we've ever sent was end to end encrypted and not logged anywhere on anyone's servers.

I published a friend's very basic guide for gov't workers on how to use Signal for their personal messaging and why it's a good idea: https://a.wholelottanothing.org/a-guide-to-using-signal-for-government-workers/

Musk’s first order of business being the illegal shutdown of the agency that gave post-apartheid aid to South Africa is so obvious an editor would strike it from a story for being way too predictable for readers.

Once every few years I’m surprised after reading something when I realize— holy shit— *I* wrote this. It’s a surprise because I barely recognize the whiny crank who wrote it.
I think it’s healthy to be embarrassed by the version of yourself from five years ago and their garbage opinions. I’m glad to know I’ve lightened up and moved on.

his thinks anyone who argues on behalf of empathy is faking it.
People like PG think this because they can’t even *imagine* having empathy for others, fighting for a fair and just world that helps everyone in an earnest way.
People who rail against “woke” think everyone who support causes are faking it for likes.
They think all social justice is performative because they can’t wrap their heads around why others would ever do it.
They’re fundamentally broken people.

just heard from someone in marketing at a crypto company that since last week's "new commitment to free speech" at Facebook, suddenly all the limitations on crypto advertising at Facebook are totally gone. It's totally free rein now.
Congrats, zuck, now we're at the dawn of a new age of scams. Be sure to tell your parents not to fall for any of them, even when Matt Damon says they should convert their retirement to bitcoin.
