#WritersCoffeeClub 6: Have you ever entered any writing competitions? How did you do?
I joined the Script+ Festival back in 2020 with the pilot of a series called "Extra-Humans". The script was short-listed, so I didn't do bad at all.
I also got feedback from one of the critics. They compared my story to Heroes ("back when it was good", as they put it) and gave some valuable ideas on how to improve the script. I implemented the feedback but haven't tried again yet. Maybe this year!

Damario: Better? Not quite. It would be... calmer. I don't have Briaca's martial skills. My rank in the Order of Aphrodite is way lower too, so you'll mostly see me conducting ceremonies for the Mother Goddess... when I'm not going against the Mother Goddess' will, but we don't talk about that, do we? 🤨
Trust me, fellow traveller, you're better off going to war with Briaca. Much more action... and forbidden love! 🤫

I had to google "contractions" to make sure I wasn't missing anything because the answer to this seems quite obvious: yes, of course! In description and in dialogue (as long as it fits the character's personality), it's all valid.

#WordWeavers 9: Do any of your characters have sensory sensitivities?
Briaca does. She's autistic and has sound sensitivity. Loud noises, including many voices talking at once, drive her crazy. And never chew your nails when she's near! Focusing on people's heartbeats is a strategy she uses to distract herself.
However, when on the battlefield, she barely even hears all the noise around her.
She's also sensitive to tastes and can't stand sour ones. And she has *decreased* pain sensitivity.

#WritersCoffeeClub 7: Have you seen a TV show or movie so close to one of your ideas you wish you'd written it?
Not really. I was inspired by TV shows, films, and games (Sense8 and Dark are my two biggest inspirations for Alexandria, and Bloodborne inspired some of WWL's aesthetics), but I don't remember seeing one that was so close to my ideas.
However, there *are* films and TV shows that aren't exactly similar, but I kind of wish I had written them because I love them so much 😂

Can I collaborate with Tamsyn Muir? I would. In a heartbeat.
That is to say, depends on who I'd be collaborating with. I collaborate all the time when writing games, but that's a whole different beast. For books? It's not something I dream of, but it might be possible with the right partner-in-crime. (And here I'm specifically thinking of full-on books, not anthologies.)

That aside, it's a good blurb! A few things I noticed:
- The introductory paragraph comes across as too vague. Maybe add one or two details to illustrate the differences in their lives?
- The "Their worlds are about to collide..." feels redundant.
- Two uses of "way(s)" in the same phrase makes it sound a bit repetitive.
Anyway, just my two cents! I'm not great at blurbs, I'm afraid 😂

Qinyang can be if the mission requires it. Ishana can be as well if she believes she'll gain something out of it (and if she can stab the person afterwards).
Briaca has a natural charm, and she enjoys some seduction games, but she's careful to not create a snowball that will end in people being pacified. Flirting is a complicated subject when you live in a world where you'll be hunted down if you miss the mark and fall in love 🤷🏻‍♀️
