I don't think it's a valid to argue that everyone buys new computers on the regular and it's normal when your sample group is loads of students who all own macbooks.
Those are priced well out of reach of your average computer user. This is not a representative sample.
If your assumed baseline computing device costs more than a month's rent, and 2-3x as much as more common devices, you may be making a mistake in assuming how much computing power is available to the average user.

The reason content warnings are so heavily emphasised on Fedi are to avoid the thing that happened all the time on twitter and now happens on Bluesky where somebody quotes a big post about how someone like you just got murdered for no reason (beyond bigotry) and the killer is going to get away with it and there are 20 people mourning in the comments.

We're now seeing reports of hundreds of trans patients being refused HRT on the NHS by GPs, often for arbitrary reasons such as "personal beliefs".
I don't know how much more clearly I can say this: just because they're "supposed" to help and the guidance does not tell them this is the correct thing to do, that doesn't stop it from happening. We have been saying for years that this what will happen if given the chance, and the whole time there's been bloody libs responding like "oh that wont happen, they'll not get away with doing that, it's not allowed." It's happening anyway, because of course it is.

Arkham Knight has cheated me out of a fight with Deathstroke, it was another bloody batmobile section!
Him being in the game is extremely cool but then he just shows up in a big stupid tank and you blow it up and the fight is over. No actual fight with Deathstroke.
I'm getting the impression this game doesn't have a way of making one on one combat work. It's groups or nothing.

I acknowledge that various things which could be accurately be described as violence are unavoidable components of us building the future we all need. The fact the state holds a monopoly on the legitimate use of violence means it's guaranteed that it will be used against progressive movements that threaten the status quo, and we see this over and over again throughout history and every day in our current world. It's not going to be enough to just ask nicely for them to stop doing that - they will gladly kill us first.
I'm not going to criticise someone for simply acknowledging the reality that in some cases the only effective tool against oppression is actual weaponry. Non-violence is of course an essential part of a larger strategy but I believe it has limits. I'm not a pacifist.
I just think that I'd rather target any of this theoretically necessary violence toward actual threats and infrastructure of oppression, rather than focusing all my righteous aggression against *checks notes* a bunch of trans people (mostly women) who disagreed with or were rude to me on social media.

I grabbed Disney+ for a month cus I was bored and wanted an easy way of having something to watch in bed with my cats, so I also watched all of Echo a couple of days ago.
Again, a show I enjoyed. Bold choice to have half the dialogue be via subtitled ASL, and again some very entertaining fight scenes. I tend to like the more grounded, more relateable and less absurdly high stakes parts of the MCU, so this worked for me.

Turns out I was able to do the production on this one super quickly. It's another single pager, a dive into absurd bureaucracy as you alternate between border control Guard and Civilian trying to prove their acceptability to cross, constantly escalating the level of complexity of the questioning and documentation required to progress, but gradually enough that it's technically still possible to succeed.
If you never let *anyone* in how would liberals argue that the system is tough but fair?
It's sort of a Calvinball approach to border control, which is in many ways how border control already works.
This closes out Y, so now there's only one official game left to complete the series. It's finally happening.

Nanowrimo declaring themselves basically in favour of the use of AI in writing means I'm not even going to bother participating in this thing again.
Their justifications for it are completely absurd, attempting to use the language of social justice to dress up why they think it's fine to use the plagiarism machine in an event that is *literally about doing all the work yourself*.
AI in writing isn't an accessibility issue. It's not classist or ableist to say you shouldn't feed your manuscript to the plagiarism machine so you can pretend you have an editor! You know what would be a great solution to not having being able to afford an editor, or needing help interpreting feedback in your work? A community of thousands of people who all love writing and working to help each other with creative projects.
Can't imagine where Nano fucking Wrimo would find one of those though 🤔

Still making games, still working through them!
Year Zero is a freeform meditative creative exercise of a game, in which you seek answers within The Void, and look to free yourself of the shackles of your existing understanding and preconceptions. If we had the answers already, surely things wouldn't be in such a state, right? No, we must seek something completely new.
There's very minimal direction and how you interpret it is up to you, there aren't even explicit instructions on how to play, or whatever it is you are expected to do here. Just ideas and potentials. There are no expectations. The Void persists whether you engage with it or not.
This is a short single pager as I'm doing a double-mini feature due to the production problems with everything else I'd tried to build for this one. Next game will probably come next week, and be another Y word. Then we just have the final game to go.

Rolls Royce manufacture essential components for the F-35 fighters being used extensively to commit airstrikes as part of the ongoing genocide in Palestine. They are complicit in the brutal violence there and directly profit from its continuation.
Accepting a sponsorship that is blatant pinkwashing, even if it is from a local business, is absolutely appalling. Derby Pride is an extremely "safe" corporate friendly event which doesn't even bother having any sort of march or parade, just a short walk around a park where nobody has to see us. Absolutely pathetic.
At least now I have some ideas for what kind of protest materials to take in a few weeks.
