I’m a dad to 3 girls, a husband, and a Linux and development tech geek. My favorite programming was C++ until I discovered Rust, and now it’s dropped to 3rd - after Go. Visit my website for tutorials and blog post musings.

Last Notes npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 COSMIC Viewer Update: I have resolved all known bugs with this project. Additionally, I’ve implemented keyboard navigation for the gallery and added the road map/todo list in the README.md file. npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 The image viewer is nearing a point release, with a key bug fix implemented. External deletes of the image being viewed no longer cause issues with directory refreshing, ensuring the gallery remains in sync. npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 Excited to share an update on my COSMIC Viewer application. npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 Hey guys, just looked into snifnet. The GUI toolkit is iced. Just figured I’d let ya know! npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 Guys, sorry I didn’t get the video player ready for you in time. I’ll keep working at it as I can. I’ll also take some contributions if anyone would like to help out: https://github.com/bhh32/tui_player. I hope the TUI challenge goes well! npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 I’m working on trying to make a video player as a TUI with real video, not ASCII videos here. I’ve got a very rough prototype working that prints the controls and time elapsed. The plan is to allow jellyfin and YouTube streaming along side local videos. I hope to have enough done in time for the TUI challenge for ya fellas! npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 I've released a new Rust generics tutorial that delves into their proper usage, drawbacks, and their common presence in Rust programming. npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 I’m super excited! Created my first PR to a major open source project today, System76’s COSMIC desktop. It’s adding a vertical spinner button widget to their custom GUI library, libcosmic. Fingers crossed it’s accepted and merged soon! Here’s what the widget looks like in use! npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 Good morning Nostr land!! I have setup my new website, some parts are still under construction, but there are two Rust programming tutorials already up. If you’d like to learn something about GUI development in Rust I hope they help! npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 I’ve released version 0.1.0 of my Tailscale GUI for Linux today. It’s very basic, but it gets the job done. Check it out if you’re in need for a Tailscale GUI on Linux. https://github.com/bhh32/gui-scale npub1gw972dngerjd338n8gydyvh7ev28pgpl5ru0w9ru5dr3gcyxs9mqcn58gl bhh32 So I’ve recently become a COSMIC Ambassador for the System76 COSMIC desktop environment. I’ve joined this program to be able to promote what has quickly become my favorite desktop environment, even before it’s been deemed production ready. I’ve been using COSMIC since it was in its pre-alpha state, and I can say without a doubt that it has come a long way. I believe in this product so whole heartedly that I have been running as my only desktop environment for the last 7 months without incident. Even in its now Alpha state it is extremely stable. I hope that System76 seems it to be ready for production in the near future so that anyone can enjoy the experience that I do. Stay tuned because I am working on some tutorials to help create apps with the Rust iced GUI framework, which is what COSMIC’s libcosmic is based on, and will work my way into tutorials for working with libcosmic itself so that we can make the COSMIC software ecosystem a rich place to develop for.
