I think it would be a good idea to convince developers of other platforms to adopt nostr. Then you can expand the userbase greatly. Think of mastodon, loops, pixelfed, lemmy etc.

I think it is more a matter of politicians easily be manipulated than sheer corruption. For example there are loads of politicians who want to do good, and protect the youth from predators, but are not so technical, and therefore are easy targets for big tech companies to do their agenda without even knowing it. Dumbness is widespread unfortunately

But.... Unfortunately the union is not perfect, as there are things such as chat control initiatives, age verification, cameras in cars etc, but that is a world wide trend instignated by lobbies from Meta and others like Meta. (Age verification in particular was their initiative)

If you consider the fact that the majority of trips are shorter than 5 km, and that the average distance to the workplace is approx 20 km (and that is the same worldwide), then i'd recommend to use the bicycle instead, this leaves a lot money on the bank, and as a bonus makes you healthier.

A decentral domainname registry what would that look like? A domainname must be unique, that is for sure, or doesn't it?. But in a decentral system what would be the authority to claim a domainname? Maybe it is not really necessary to have a unique name.(many john smiths exist, and that works pretty well) In combination with a npub a domain can be made unique. A search of existing domainnames can be made as well, so that you can choose one that is as unique as possible

Wouldnt it be a great idea if Mastodon would adopt the Nostr protocol as well. From a user perspective such a migration could be fairly inexpensive, i think. A button, saying switch to Nostr mode... receive the keys and an enrollment instruction.

That is pure bullshit, taxes are, although not funny when you need to pay, absolutely neccesary for a functioning society. There is a minimum for that, and a maximum. Id say 30% is neccessary

i agree with the analysis. If i look into nostr i mostly see clients that look the same, primal/ ditto/ amethyst etc. and the content they host is mostly about nostr / bitcoin and that is not attractive. I think a killer app is required, i think that should be something like a dating app. why a dating app, well in a dating app you put a lot of confidential stuff in it, and you dont want the tech companies to own that. Also this is an instrument to get other content than bitcoin/ nostr etc. When you get people in a nostr based dating app they are on nostr, and you will get the numbers required to build a healty eco system. from there you can build add ons. Another aspect is that an algorithm is missing, and we need such a thing, but one that we can inspect and modify , ensuring transparancy

Good initiative, a lot of people had good feelings for that platform. But lets not forget why people moved to facebook. What were the pros and cons of both platforms and what can we learn from that. As i remembered the older people remained loyal to hyves and the young people moved to facebook as they could not encounter their (grand)parents there wanting to be friends with them there

I think that the problem is that Nostr can be used for anything, and thus feels unfocused. I think a killer app is needed , focus the growth there, and then build around that and grow the ecosystem. For example a dating app. Why a dating app, well because a lot of secrets are shared there, where a lot of people dont trust the big tech companies. Focus is on dating, a subject that concerns everybody, and not just tech and bitcoin dudes. From there you get the numbers, and then you can append apps to expand the dating experience, based on the nostr protocol

so basically there is a need to be able to create relay's from existing servers. I suspect the weaknesses can be found in those who are enforcing the block, as they want to download the latest movies for them self and so on. But i guess it is practically only to be seen from outside Russia, as we can monitor from which adresses traffic comes from. So the best way to help is to provide those adresses. I for example suspect that github, gitlab and those sites will remain visible.

Well, i can assure you that i am fully human (trust me on my blue eyes ;-) ) No i am trying to help some friends in Russia that are non technical guys with a safe way to communicate. I have the feeling with many secure messengers that the reality beats the theory in many ways, like signal and matrix are easily blocked due to their centralized nature. You have a particular recommendation, before the full internet block is implemented ? (For now a Nostr based thing seems most robust... but then again that is the theory)

Obviously a lot of bots are present, praising the gospel of bitcoin and ai. I dont like that kind of algorithmic astro turfing. I foresee that we need a registry of verified npub keys that belong to a human. Question, is NOSTR a bit proven as censorship proof? For example with whitenoise.chat? And have you also tried out bitchat?

That is not possible, since it is completely decentral and, depending on the implementation end to end encrypted. It is only possible to nuke individual relayservers, but near impossible to do this for all relayservers
