most project adopts linear space sRGB now I think. but I have no idea about the source texture part, why would I put linear data texture (say roughness) in sRGB? never.

Folks, I sense an impending UX storm coming, and it is already here in China, hope you all in the western world are prepared:
- To drive mass AI adoption, they are changing every chat app’s UX.
- They are giving AI bot chat a prominent place in the interface, often ABOVE any human chat!
- On mobile these are associated with a left swipe that’s easily (mis)triggered when you “go back”.
- WeChat has done this, so have many enterprise chat solutions.
- bless you all.

market share, cost of support, hardware performance etc., also many devs seem to lack the hardware or don’t want to deal with maintaining macOS build over major OS releases (which always break them in some ways).
But simulation and strategy games often come out on Mac so I think there are genre specific exceptions.

People say you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead, so I will remember late Senator Graham by a President Trump quote:
“He had one bad moment and that was when the Jan. 6 thing, when he stood up ‘alright, now I’ve had it, that’s it, I can’t do it anymore’… And he took it back. So I give him a 99.9 instead of 100.”

I ran this poll 2 years ago and 90% of the correspondents on mastodon told me there were no required AI usage at their workplace.
I would like to ask the same question again in 2026:
“Does your workplace have any AI related requirements, either as major project goal, in performance review, or with usage analytics tracking, against your own will?”
Boost welcomed.

So someone leaked a huge repo of source code and internal documents regarding the tech behind Great Firewall of China (GFW), and it is because Geedge Network, a for-profit company with ties to CCP state censorship czars were selling “censorship as a service” globally, to Central/South Asian governments as well as some African countries. As someone who has to retrieve/fill in context among team members, I believe it is a skill, but it is a skill we should use with humans, not bots.
Automated bots (aka Agentic LLM) should collect its own context, or we are just glorifying the process of feeding machines with supervised inputs.
What this implies are clear:
1. the user must know the task better than the machine.
2. doing so in a natural language are actually a burden to users.
Context engineering* is a reflection of LLM limit.

a gamedev repo can easily exceed 1.5GB when working with LFS, and it generally grows linearly. Unsure if becoming a paying member is enough for Codeberg, any suggestions? cc @npub1fh7…ee83

Question for #gamedev on here again:
Are there any good (preferably independent) source repo hosts for small gamedev team?
(Trying my best not to give GitHub any money, but unsure if there are viable alternatives.)

(This is a poll to make every gamedev feel better about their own projects, so please vote honestly)
**How much of a mess do you think your current or last shipped game will be/was when it launches/launched?**
