Patched and then torn apart again. Shit hit the fan in her personal life (for real, not an excuse). We were kind of new so she bailed out. Tears, "I saw a future with you" etc. Ugh. I wish people would just let me be supportive of them...this has happened to my last two relationships now. I'm pretty good in a crisis, it's kind of my comfort zone.

I went to a picnic gathering last night at a beach here which was really fun. Since I'm fucking compulsive of course I whipped out my crochet. I had a lot of good conversations that way and invited a couple of people to Fiber Arts.
However I made the foolish decision to eat 4 dates and my face turned BRIGHT RED from flushing. Luckily I had a loose Zyrtec in the bottom of my yarn bag.

They're both Mad Tosh and the lighter green is called Cardigan, and the darker is called Forsta. I got too much Forsta but now I'm glad because they're slightly different even though they're the same dye lot.

I know, I jump on it any chance I get. I feel like I'm making a renewed effort with my typical aloof Seattleites. I still did the bare minimum of civility 6 months ago (greeting people ffs) when I was still wretchedly depressed, but now I'm back to actively trying to reach out again. People are responding.
I have a fellow metalworker work friend who's going through a divorce and he's having health problems at the same time and I've crossed over to being one of his sanity lines right now. A pipefitter saved my life last year, literally, time to pay it forward. It's hard to be separated from your family.

Picked up new car last night... Haven't regularly driven a stick in 30 years but I slid back into it pretty quickly. Met Rube Jr at my house and then drove us to dinner.

Oh yeah I am thanks! A tiny bit of neck soreness today that I can tell was tension, not a snapping motion. I've had similar neck soreness after a lovely day in court. But I get stressed and my cells explode. Fainting goat Rube. 😴
Mostly I'm sad about my car. I've had it for 20 years and I'm way too emotionally attached to it. I hope they can fix my trunk! Dude was probably going about 30 mph? This was the first year the Civic got a steel roll cage. It's my lil tank in a sea of SUVs.
I've stopped sadsacking and have gotten up. Better outlook now that I have a mug of my favorite coffee and I realized I can sit on my porch and smoke my pipe and wait for the sun to come up. If it comes up... Fall is here 😆

I feel like no matter where or who I wrote this to most people would find this completely unrelatable and I don't even know how to phrase this... I'm losing motivation to eat. I'm not depressed (I don't think I am anyway). Another night that I've only slept half of and scabby from a recent 5-6 rounds of hives again. I have the diagnosis, there's not much by way of treatment in terms of making my body act normal. By the time my grandmother was my age she was living on black coffee and cigarettes. I get it I get it now.

Took Rube Jr out to dinner after the movie last night to a really great steakhouse. She mentioned that she definitely moved out too soon and it was stupid. I never say "I told you so" to anyone because I think it's generally unhelpful and cruel, buti was happy to hear it. Happy because she is reflecting on her choices and taking personal responsibility for them. I wish things would have happened differently but everything considered she is doing really well.
Something else interesting--she lives with two young women now in a sketchy neighborhood. She's taken all of my slogans with her and tells her friends:
-head on a swivel
-one earbud
-Constant Vigilance
Her friends tell her she's crazy but I know she goes through the city projecting confidence and alertness. Any interview you hear with former muggers/pickpockets teaches you it's much easier to target someone who isn't paying attention or who looks scared.
She's applying to my trade next week and is very excited. "But then you're going back to college?" her dad asks in alarm. Ha! Going to be a lot harder once she starts stacking paper without debt.
