Getting off of oil is not just about climate, it's a mathematical inevitability.
At the projected growth rate of 0.65% per year of oil production, we have 39 years until it's gone. Even if we somehow find TWICE the oil we have ever found, that would give us 69 years (within a child's lifetime)
We cannot grow our economy on oil, it's just not possible. Oil age is over.

Not everything that is new is better.
The idea of illegal immigration is new. Prior to WWI, Passports were not a thing. For most of human history, people could travel and work freely across borders..
Closed borders are a recent experiment in human history. It's hard to argue because everyone alive can't imagine what a world like that looked like and it feels 'natural' that we have closed borders. It's not natural. I would argue makes a less free world.
