@npub1a39…y49f im reading up on it and its impressive and i can see what ur saying. this doesnt mean ai is sentient and can form a unique thought, it played itselfs thousands of times until it got something right like many other programs. clever hans was a horse in the 20th century who could “perform” intellectual tasks, but it wasn’t actually doing it. it watched the reactions of its trainer until it got a positive reaction, similar on whats happening with alphazero. it performs many and many tasks until it gets a positive signal. the horse wasnt smart or intelligent by acting like it was smart, so is alphazero.

there’s constantly new styles and techniques being created im literally in these spaces to see it. tell a ai to create a new art style, 9/10 its just hundreds of others peoples art slapped into one

i feel i put this insanely straight forward and you’re still missing the point. ai can yes think of new strategies because they are given the blueprint of thousands of other strategies to combine it into some sort of strategy frankenstein. its because people before had put effort and time into creating strategies so good and complex and ai just scrapes that. they are taking, not creating. ai can not invent a engine if the engine was never invented because it never had that blueprint. humans are different. humans have creativity in which they are able to invent.

ai does similar but not the same. every other animal does the same as us. ai imitates it poorly. i keep saying this for some reason but there is a difference between ai ideas and human ideas. ai ideas are, again, just taken from us and given to a bot. yes you can say the same with humans but people are able to form a unique idea without AI. inspiration is a thing every person has but its you who has to use that inspiration to create something new. if you told a AI to invent the next big machine it couldnt because it doesnt have the blueprint from what it was fed.
there is actually a video on this that explains exactly what im speaking about but with image generative AI about how you cant generate a image with wine filled because it has not seen that. we can imagine wine filled to the top, ai cant. go ahead and give it a watch it’s interesting

you’re right that theres many types of ai. and generative ai is one. but its also the same for many other types of ai thats not generative. in as simple terms as i can put it ai does not have a original thought. it cannot come up with something it was not told by its creators. also, until there is proof you cant just say you think theres something else lol
the difference between sentient life and 1’s and 0’s is that sentient life is able to come up with something that it was not told to before

to add onto this the bigger reasons AI is no where near sentience is because it cannot think. it takes ideas from millions and probably billions of sources and churns out something that was thought by a human - not the ai. thats the thing with all current ai. humans code them with their ideas and the ai just repeats it, not thinks of a new idea. ai has no sense of creativity.
