Really glad we traded support tickets and documentation and knowledgebases for instead joining a Discord where the one extremely stressed out libertarian developer with the anime avatar who’s been maintaining the project single-handedly can ignore my question and tell me to fuck off

This was just me noticing the updated player controls, but I was just fiddling to see if I could recreate it and yeah, the nav scroll bug is still there. Maybe in a few years they’ll finally fix that too!

Oh man they finally fixed the controls on the YouTube Apple TV app!! Big day!

Great, I’m in! Just signed up for an information session to learn more about how to do this. Thank you for sharing!

This is something I’d really like to work on. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to start talking about it with others, and, candidly, if it’s something I could find money for. If you’re at all in interested in this, follow me, or maybe drop your email here: https://buttondown.com/secularchurch (We’ll also have to think of a better name!)

The last few days, there’s been a lot of talk of the importance of community, and how vital it’s going to be to have robust personal networks to weather the worst of what’s about to come. That’s all well and good, but building community is really fucking hard.

Everyone who asked me what my highlight of XOXO was this year, it was planning and executing the surprise at the end of Cabel's presentation. Enjoy!

To folks asking, yes this was XOXO: https://xoxofest.com/2024/ Here's our COVID policy, which is licensed under CC: https://xoxofest.com/guide/covid/ Please steal it!

We asked 1,000+ attendees to mask indoors this weekend, and everyone just did. I didn’t have to stop and remind a single person the entire 3 days.
There were definitely gaps in the policy, the risk wasn’t reduced to zero, but if anyone is wondering if it’s possible for events and large gatherings to make reasonable accommodations to reduce the risk of spreading COVID, it absolutely is, we proved it, and your event should be doing it too.

Not really saying this in any particular direction. Just that I have largely cocooned myself away, working long hours home alone, smothered in emails and spreadsheets, and not many people know. Still here. Ready for it to be different.

I also wish any of this was interesting to talk about. I feel like, given the focus of the things I make, I should also be talking about my own direct experiences with burnout and money and being independent. I just don’t have the energy 🙃

Been working 16-18 hour days since ... November? Between launching Heck at the start of the year, then producing XOXO with half the budget, it’s been a lot. Too much, honestly. I’m careening towards my 40s, I really can’t be living like this any more.
