The worst part is if you pay that mortgage off, in most states, you're still paying property taxes for things you don't benefit from. Though they claim it helps your property value. What if you want to live in that home for the rest of your life? Why would you care about property value? And, why would people want to buy a home with higher taxes?
Yet, if you don't pay the tax, they evict you from the home you paid off the mortgage on.

Are you sure that isn't possible with Obsidian? I'm a Logseq user. But, awhile back I did a test of having them share markdown, which is all on the file system. It did work. Here is the guide I followed:

I use logseq + MarkText like that. Logseq provides the indexing for fast searches and let's you link anything with anything. But, I use MarkText for documents or when I want to work in raw markdown. And, I use them together, because the current version of Logseq is all markdown files you can open both from your filesystem and from within Logseq (open with external app).
I'm concerned about the next major release of Logseq, which will put it in a database. In theory, it will increase perf and scalability. But, my flow requires a lot of filesystem integration between tools, so I'm not sure that will work for me. But, the current Logseq 10.x is great with my current flow.

Trying to figure out how to create nice articles here. I love using #markdown.
Looking at one post, it looks very rendered from markdown. Looking at its raw data, sure enough, it has markdown headings, links and other things.
OK, so I created a test post with markdown. It then displays it, but as all literal, no conversion. Raw data looks like the article, all my markdown is in the content.
So, how do you use markdown to create a well formatted post?

Also, you can snip and eat the green leaves at any time. A new one will grow back within a week. They'll always grow the green to match the size of their roots. Unlike the store, you'll see leaves get 2 feet long when you grow them.

I also grow indoor and out. Consider adding green onions cuz they are super easy both indoor and outside, can grow well with other things, and can even do well once rooted over winter buried in snow. They are bi-annual, so in year 2 you can get seeds.
Next time you bring some home, just pop them in soil instead of the fridge. That's a quick way to begin.

Trade plays a big role in long-term human rights outcomes. It is engagement with China since the 80s that has tranferred a lot of the world's weath to them, which allows them to continue to violate human rights without any way for us to hold them accountable. Contrast that to if we had not given them free trade all these years. They would not be as powerful today as they were back then, and we'd be able to use tariffs to object to their policies. On top of that, EU and the US would both be producing a lot more and importing less from China.

One of the primary reasons I played MMORPGs was became they became virtual worlds where you could see one constant play out.... human nature.
Nearly all of them ultimately fell due to the phenomenon you describe. But, with a twist.
You have central people with power... the developers of the game. They have a place where the players can voice their opinions... like a forum. On the forum, you have about 50% whining. The whiners pretty much whine about the same thing, to oppress freedom lovers who hurt no one. But, because even though the freedom lovers don't care to compete, but just want to have fun, the whiners view the game as one big competition and cry that it is unfair that they can do this and that.
E.g., in EQOA, they cried because necromancers no longer needed tanks and healers? How can we have RPG if the tanks and healers aren't needed by every single group in the game? If 1% of the players can play without them, it could grow and eventually eliminate the healer and tank classes. That was their reasoning. Did the necromancers bother anyone alone in the desert killing big critters? No.
The whiners are LOUD and repetitious. The devs inevitably cater to their voice, as if it is the only "consensus" that matters. Truth is, they are likely the minority and most tanks and healers don't care, and thus don't waste time on the forums. But, the devs cater.
This leads to every single patch nerfing classes that others are jealous of. Jealousy drives game development. Years of this, and you begin to watch the number of active players drop, and towns dry up. This is how the games die.
The manufactured consent doesn't always come from the top, in this case devs. Sometimes, it just comes from loud repetitious whiners. The devs play ball because they believe they are pleasing the majority. They have become victims..
