Excellent news to see. Setting up legal constructs for non-profits is surprisingly challenging, so this is a big development for #Mastodon. It'd be nice to see more legal resources available for other communities looking to do similar things.

And this is exactly why I don't trust #Bluesky over #Mastodon. They don't even have a real foothold yet and they're already looking for monetization angles to enrich themselves.

@npub1mvj…r582 is awesome and started uploading his videos directly to tilvids after YouTube blocked us, which no doubt consumes time he could be using to make more content or do anything else.

That's disappointing. I love #FireFox and #Mozilla but this is the wrong direction. The org doesn't appear to have a strong strategy, constantly moving from VPN, to fedi, to AI. Supporting federated services is such an obviously good long-term play for their mission, so to end their Mastodon instance is unfortunate.

Heads-up for the #PeerTube community, it appears Google has been blocking many tools/IP ranges that try to synchronize with YouTube. At least for the creators on #tilvids this is a massive challenge, because they can no longer sync THEIR content on multiple platforms, requiring them to manually upload to both TILvids AND #youtube We appreciate our creators going the extra mile, and please remember this is why it's so important to support alternative platforms.

PSA: #YouTube has begun blocking import on many hosts, including the one we use at TILvids. This means that auto-sync for channels will no longer work, which puts incredible pressure/effort on creators like @npub1mvj…r582 trying to make content available in multiple locations. Because of this, expect there to be some disruptions in content availability.
This is why it's so important to support non #Google software and services, because they are swiftly becoming a bad actor in the world of #tech
