Misskey also recognizes the summary property as plain text. :blobcatthink:

2024-10-09 08:33:29 GMT

According to the Activity Vocabulary specification, the summary property should be HTML encoded, but #Mastodon is putting plain text in the summary property. #Hollo is putting #HTML in the summary, but should I change Hollo's behavior? :blobcatthink:

I'm still stuck between PIXELATED.CAT and HACKERS.PUB, because while PIXELATED.CAT is cool, it's a bit confusing to spell for non-English speakers. 🤔

No, they are just chosen due to domain availability (.pub & .haus). If you have any idea, please suggest!

Other ideas are also welcome!

Ghost already represents posts as `as:Article` objects. Interestingly, they put `as:Note` into the `as:preview` property of `as:Article` objects, which I don't think Mastodon utilizes.

The `fedify inbox` command, which is shipped with @fedify/cli, is a tool that creates an ephemeral #ActivityPub server so that you can debug and test the activities you send.
Here's a demo of it.

As the creator of Fedify, I'd like to see either ActivityPub implementations all deal with JSON-LD properly, or the ActivityPub spec gives up on JSON-LD. 😩

2024-09-11 17:00:53 GMT

I received a request from [@ghost](https://threads.net/@ghost/ ) today to add #LDSignatures to @npub1tlf…wz08 for compatibility with #Mastodon, as Mastodon does not plan to implement Object Integrity Proofs (FEP-8b32) for the near future. 😩
However, Mastodon's implementation of LD Signatures does not even use valid JSON-LD properties (despite the name), so I'm not sure how to make it compatible with Mastodon since #Fedify does JSON-LD processing. 🤔

As a trilingual, I've written the #Fedify's tutorial in three languages:
• English: https://unstable.fedify.dev/tutorial/microblog
• Korean: https://hackmd.io/@hongminhee/fedify-tutorial-ko
• Japanese: https://zenn.dev/hongminhee/books/4a38b6358a027b

2024-09-06 15:51:17 GMT

I wish #Mastodon would just implement FEP-8b32 instead of the LD Signatures which is obsolete.

Hello, I'm an open source software engineer in my late 30s living in #Seoul, #Korea, and an avid advocate of #FLOSS and the #fediverse.
I'm the creator of @npub1tlf…wz08, an #ActivityPub server framework in #TypeScript, and @npub1mz3…tpw7, a fediverse microblog for single users.
I'm also very interested in East Asian languages (so-called #CJK) and #Unicode. Feel free to talk to me in #English, #Korean (#한국어), or #Japanese (#日本語), or even in Literary Chinese (#文言文/#漢文)!

I'm curious about the size of the #fediverse in the #Chinese-speaking world.

2024-08-29 02:42:14 GMT

On the #Korean #fediverse, there's a word called #聯親 (yeonchin; literally “fedifriend”). It means someone who follows each other or frequently exchanges replies. It's only used on the fediverse!
#연친

Wow, English-only people (or Western languages, for that matter) are so naïve. In case you didn't know, the lang attribute is very important in East Asian languages.

The creator of #Misskey:
“It's sad that when Misskey federates with other software such as Mastodon on ActivityPub, I only get complaints due to different behaviors (which of course comply with AP). (There are only criticisms, but I don't recall any appreciation at all.)
Also, for some reason, when there is such a difference in behavior, it is often assumed that Mastodon is correct and Misskey is incorrect/has its own opinion (in fact, the opposite is often the case).”

For educational purpose, I've created a federated microblog example using #Fedify, with a total of about 30 commits, which you can follow step by step.
Now, I'm starting to write a hands-on Fedify tutorial based on this example code. I'll make it public when I'm done!

I've rewritten #Fedify several times and in several languages. The first time it was written in #TypeScript, then #Python, then C#, then back to TypeScript. (It was codenamed FediKit at the time of development.) I settled on TypeScript for the following reasons:
• It has a decent JSON-LD implementation.
• Lots of people use it. (I wanted Fedify to be widely used.)
• It's type-safe enough.
Even if I were to build Fedify again, I would choose TypeScript.

Today we created #FediDev KR, a community for Korean people who are not only implementing fediverse servers, but also those who are running them, such as server operators, moderators, client app developers, bot developers, writers, translators, researchers, and more. For now, we're based on a Discord server, but we hope to eventually organize offline meetups and workshops. We'd love your support!
