Barclays just capped crypto transfers at £10k/month ‘for my protection’.
Mate, the only thing I need protecting from is TradFi.

Don’t be John.
In November 2025, John and Dave both sat in the same Barclays branch in Manchester. Same day, same adviser, same polite smile.
The adviser slid two pieces of paper across the table.
To John: a shiny new platinum credit card, pre-approved £15,000 limit.
To Dave: the now-famous text on his phone:
“From 2 December we’re restricting crypto transfers to protect you.”
John laughed. “Crypto’s gambling, mate. I’ll take the card. Need a new telly and a holiday.”
Dave asked quietly, “So you’ll let me borrow £10,000 at 39.9% to blow on anything I want, but you won’t let me send £10,001 of my own money to buy Bitcoin?”
The adviser shrugged. “Rules are rules. We have to keep you safe.”
Five winters later, November 2030.
John is 42, divorced, living in a rented one-bed flat above a chicken shop.
Every month for five years he has paid Barclays £250–£330, whatever he could scrape together after rent.
Total sent to Barclays: £19,847.
Still owes: £8,916.
The holiday photos are long deleted. The telly broke two years ago.
His credit score is 412. No lender will touch him. He is trapped.
Dave is 42, mortgage-free on a three-bed house he bought in 2028 with part of his stack.
That original £10,000 sent to Kraken in 2025 is now worth £215,000.
He paid Barclays exactly £28 in Faster Payment fees, five years ago.
That is all.
John sees Barclays adverts on the bus:
“Banking that looks after you.”
Every time he reads those words, he feels something cold crawl across his chest.
He realises the protection was never for him.
It was protection for Barclays’ profit margins.
Protection from customers like Dave who might stop feeding the debt machine.
Protection from the terrifying idea that ordinary people could escape the slow grind of 39.9% interest and actually build wealth.
John was the good customer.
Dave was the threat.
And the bank chose who to “protect” accordingly.
Don’t be John.

Strategy could transform its stock with a bold play:
Launch a publicly-traded “Bitcoin Treasury & Services” subsidiary, capitalised by part of its massive BTC stack.
Generate yield via lending, offer institutional custody/trading, and issue revenue-sharing securities.
This unlocks value, shifts the narrative from “just buy BTC” to a diversified platform, and targets $100M revenue by 2028.

JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s plan to allow institutional clients to use #Bitcoin & #Ether as loan collateral by year-end is a game-changer for #BTC.
It validates Bitcoin as a legitimate asset, drives demand by encouraging institutional holdings, enhances market liquidity, & signals growing trust in crypto within traditional finance.
This could accelerate mainstream adoption & solidify BTC’s role as a store of value.
Yet, some #Bitcoin OGs may worry about centralisation, regulatory scrutiny, or dilution of its decentralised ethos, fearing banks could undermine its anti-establishment roots. A pivotal moment for crypto!

The problem with that logic: it only works until you need to spend the money.
Buying property, investing, even opening certain accounts triggers source-of-wealth checks.
If your BTC isn’t declared, you’re effectively locked out of the legitimate financial system.

Key Takeaways
ARK Invest raised its Bitcoin bull case target to $2.4 million by 2030, driven by institutional adoption and digital gold status.
Bitcoin could reach a $49.2 trillion market cap if it captures a significant share of global financial markets and gold’s value.
Even ARK’s conservative scenarios project strong Bitcoin growth, requiring a 32% to 53% annual increase through 2030.

This golden age of eye-watering #Bitcoin returns won’t last forever.
Once it finishes eating fiat and their dodgy offspring (aka shitcoins), it’ll settle into a more modest role, compunding steadily at 1-5% per year as the economy grows.
Bitcoin is deflationary, decentralised, and delightfully disruptive. It’s not just a good investment, it’s a moral one. You’re backing the end of debt-fuelled excess, centralised mismanagement, and monetary manipulation.
And let’s clear this up: deflation isn’t bad. It’s just what happens when things get more abundant. Prices fall, and everyone wins, except governments addicted to printing. People still spend, invest, and live their lives. They just stop buying rubbish they don’t need on credit.

Exactly. The cracks Dalio warned about are showing. Bitcoin’s not flinching because it doesn’t belong to their system. Something big’s shifting — most won’t get it till it’s too late.

2025-04-08 08:14:42 GMT

Ray Dalio’s take on the world falling apart at the seams with shaky economies, political division, and rising global tensions could play into #Bitcoin’s hands over the long run.
As people lose faith in governments, central banks, and traditional systems, Bitcoin’s appeal as a decentralised, hard-capped asset starts to make more sense. It’s like a digital lifeboat in a storm.
That said, the road there won’t be smooth. Governments might push back with stricter rules, and Bitcoin could still swing wildly in price during market chaos. But overall, the kind of world Dalio describes is the kind of world where Bitcoin has a real shot at proving its worth.

It's highly likely Trump is intentionally leveraging tariffs as an economic and political tool aimed at indirectly forcing the Fed's hand.

Trump’s tariffs are the biggest U.S. move since 1982. The economic chaos these tariffs trigger will force central banks to unleash a tidal wave of money printing, which I believe will serve as rocket fuel for #Bitcoin.

Ray Dalio warns the US could face a debt crisis within three years. If restructuring or capital controls follow, investors may seek assets that offer protection from government intervention.
#Bitcoin’s fixed supply and decentralised nature provide an alternative to debt-backed fiat, offering a hedge against monetary debasement. Gold has historically been a safe haven, but in past crises, it hasn’t always preserved purchasing power.

If you're still focused solely on #Bitcoin's volatility, you're missing the bigger picture:
we're in an era where governments are on a spending spree, printing cash like there's no tomorrow, driving inflation sky-high. Your "safe" dollars are losing purchasing power by the day, yet the elephant in the room—reckless, unchecked government expenditure—gets a pass.
#Bitcoin might be a rollercoaster, but at least it's not being devalued by inflation or mismanaged by those in power. It's time to question what real financial security looks like in this landscape of fiscal irresponsibility.

#Bitcoin: A Solution to the UK’s Costly Financial Regulation
The FCA’s increasing regulatory burden lacks empirical proof of economic benefits but raises costs, limits access to advice, and reduces competitiveness. Bitcoin offers a transparent, decentralised, and low-cost alternative that could:
✅ Eliminate intermediaries, reducing compliance costs
✅ Increase transparency, removing the need for costly audits
✅ Enable self-custody, reducing complex custody regulations
✅ Lower investment costs, closing the "advice gap"
✅ Minimise FCA overreach, replacing bureaucracy with cryptographic proof
By embracing Bitcoin, the UK could cut financial red tape, empower investors, and create a more competitive economy.

2025-01-31 12:29:00 GMT

The FCA’s ban on #Bitcoin ETFs is inconsistent and overly cautious, especially when compared to its approval of other high-risk investments like AIM stocks and leveraged ETFs. If the FCA's primary concern were true investor protection, it would either apply stricter rules across all high-risk assets or allow Bitcoin ETFs within a regulated framework.
At its core, the FCA’s stance appears less about risk management and more about controlling Bitcoin’s financial integration, even if that means contradicting global financial trends and harming UK investors.

2025-01-24 15:08:06 GMT

I expect Trump’s pro-crypto stance will lead to favorable IRS rulings including no tax on unrealized #Bitcoin gains. This will also be a very welcome relief for Microstrategy shareholders.

Legally, you don’t even own the money in your bank account. Seriously. I’m not making this up.
When you stick your cash in the bank, you’re not "saving" it. You’re lending it to them. For free. At 0% interest. How generous of you, eh?
It’s theirs now. They own it. You? You’re just a creditor – fancy word for "waiting in line if they mess up."
And that’s why people love #Bitcoin. No middlemen. No dodgy deals. It’s actually yours. Unless you forget your seed code, in which case, good luck with that.

Why is #MicroStrategy considering issuing preferred stock to fund #Bitcoin investments? It’s a smart, strategic move—not a Ponzi scheme—and here’s why:
1️⃣ No fixed repayment: Unlike debt, preferred stock doesn’t have to be repaid at a set time, reducing financial pressure.
2️⃣ Dividends are flexible: While often fixed, dividends aren’t mandatory like loan interest, giving the company financial flexibility.
3️⃣ No dilution of control: Preferred shares typically don’t carry voting rights, so existing shareholders retain control.
4️⃣ Preserves debt capacity: This approach doesn’t add to debt, leaving room for future borrowing if needed.
5️⃣ Appeals to income-focused investors: Fixed dividends attract steady-income seekers, broadening the investor pool.
6️⃣ Improves financial ratios: Preferred stock is equity, not debt, which helps keep financial ratios healthy.
And most importantly: It’s NOT a Ponzi scheme. Ponzi schemes rely on deception and new investments to pay old ones. MicroStrategy is a legitimate, publicly traded company with real operations, full transparency, and strict regulatory oversight.
Their approach is similar to property investment companies using debt to acquire real estate, betting on long-term appreciation. It’s a bold, high-risk strategy aiming for growth, but it’s neither fraudulent nor unsound. They’re betting on Bitcoin like others bet on real estate.
https://m.primal.net/NepI.png

2025-01-13 11:31:18 GMT

Bitcoin corrections in January after halving years are totally normal. For example, in January 2021, Bitcoin dropped over 25% before hitting new all-time highs later that year. A similar pullback now could dip below $70K, but there’s a lot working in Bitcoin’s favor today:
1️⃣ Mass Adoption: Way more people, businesses, and institutions are using Bitcoin now, providing stronger support for prices.
2️⃣ Pro-Crypto Governments: Some leaders and governments are embracing crypto, pushing for friendlier regulations that could boost confidence.
3️⃣ ETFs and Institutions: The launch of Bitcoin ETFs and increased institutional interest (think BlackRock) have added legitimacy and liquidity to the market.
Corrections are part of Bitcoin’s journey, but with all this progress, the current ecosystem feels more resilient than in the past. Stay cool, think long-term, and remember: volatility often creates opportunity.

MiCA is a win for #Bitcoin because it brings much-needed clarity to the EU, removing a lot of the uncertainty around regulations. With clear rules in place, Bitcoin can attract more investors and businesses. Plus, the EU’s huge market of 450 million people gives Bitcoin a big opportunity to grow. The focus on consumer protection and innovation also helps create a safer, more competitive space, which could boost trust and legitimacy for Bitcoin as a digital asset.

The global landscape for #Bitcoin adoption is evolving rapidly! In the US, legislative proposals like the "Bitcoin Act" are pushing for strategic reserves, potentially setting a precedent worldwide. 🇺🇸 Meanwhile, Brazil is making headlines with its RESBit proposal, aiming to invest 5% of its international reserves in Bitcoin, signaling a strong embrace of crypto in Latin America's largest economy. El Salvador, already a pioneer having adopted Bitcoin as legal tender, continues to lead by example, expanding its national Bitcoin reserves daily. Other countries like Russia, Poland, Japan, and Germany are also in the mix with discussions and endorsements at various governmental levels. This could mean 2025 might be the year we see a significant shift in how countries view and utilise cryptocurrencies in their economic strategies. The implications for global finance, economic sovereignty, and the mainstream acceptance of digital currencies could be profound. Keep an eye on these developments; we're witnessing a historic moment in the financial world! https://image.nostr.build/31ca94837129a94067c829d5d07ddd3fb1c244774767064bf21625f84aeb3186.jpg

Yep it’s terrible, but at least I can invest tax free in MicroStrategy in my UK ISA and SIPP. Still can’t buy bitcoin ETFs in the UK because FCA bans them but luckily I bought Bitcoin ETCs in my SIPP years ago before the ban.

The US dollar's purchasing power has steadily declined, with the money supply growing 6-7% annually over the past century. This systematic devaluation acts as a hidden tax, redistributing wealth through monetary policy. Understanding these economic mechanisms is key to financial literacy. #Economics #MonetaryPolicy #Bitcoin

If BTC/share grows 60%/yr for 2 yrs, today's 2x mNAV premium looks cheap (most firms take 10-20 yrs to "pay back" their premium).
Key risk? If BTC drops & stays low, $MSTR loses its ability to raise cheap cash. But with <10% debt and BTC/share up 70% YTD, they have a cushion.
Bottom line: If BTC/share grows 60%/yr, the strategy works. If not, mNAV could collapse. The whole play hinges on BTC growth.

2024-12-17 17:06:02 GMT

Most companies can't do what MicroStrategy $MSTR does: raise cash by issuing 0% convertible bonds (5-7 yrs), sell shares at market, and repeat. If a business can consistently do this, the market will price in future potential.
Here’s why $MSTR's premium may not be "expensive." If BTC/share grows 60% per year for 2 years, that growth alone pays for the current premium. Most companies take 10-20 yrs to “pay back” their premium. $MSTR could do it in 2 — making 2x mNAV look cheap.
Yes, there’s risk. $MSTR has <10% debt and BTC/share is up >70% YTD. The mNAV multiple has ranged from 2x to 3.5x. The main risk is if mNAV drops and stays low. But if BTC/share grows 60%/yr for 2 yrs, that risk is much smaller.
Bottom line: $MSTR can raise capital cheaply (0% debt + stock issuance) and turn that into BTC/share growth. If BTC/share compounds at 60%/yr, today’s premium could be a bargain. #bitcoin

The US #Bitcoin Strategic Reserve discussion may happen in January 2025
Donald Trump is expected to issue an executive order on his first day in office to designate Bitcoin as a U.S. reserve asset.
Strategic Reserve Concept: A strategic reserve is a stockpile of a critical resource, like the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The proposed bitcoin reserve could be created through executive powers or an act of Congress.
Implementation: The reserve could start with bitcoin seized from criminal activities, currently around 200,000 tokens. There are proposals to buy more bitcoin using profits from Federal Reserve banks’ deposits and gold holdings.
Benefits: Proponents argue a bitcoin reserve could help the U.S. dominate the global bitcoin market, reduce the deficit, and strengthen the U.S. dollar.

Haters gonna hate, but Michael Saylor just built a $100B Bitcoin behemoth with MicroStrategy and entered QQQ. Proved them all wrong.
He's been preaching #Bitcoin like it's the gospel, teaching everyone from Wall Street to Main Street. Now, his company's not just surviving; it's thriving. Got $MSTR into the QQQ, which is like the cool kids' club of stocks.
This is huge for Bitcoin. Means big corporations see it as real money, not just some digital plaything. Saylor's moves are turning Bitcoin into a mainstream asset, making it harder for the old guard to ignore.
And for all those who said he'd go bankrupt, well, they're eating their words now. Saylor's not just holding; he's expanding the Bitcoin narrative, showing it's the future of finance.

MicroStrategy (#MSTR) stands out as a unique trade because it benefits from both long global carry (low yields) and short global carry (Bitcoin volatility). Here’s why:
1. Long Global Carry: MSTR benefits from financial repression caused by historically low yields in credit markets. With such poor returns on “safe” investments, investors are indirectly subsidizing equity returns like MSTR’s because they can’t directly hold Bitcoin.
2. Short Global Carry: MSTR capitalises on Bitcoin’s rare combination of high volatility and liquidity. Bitcoin’s “liquid volatility” makes it unique in a financial system where scarcity often equates to illiquidity.
3. Epistemic Incongruence: MSTR also benefits from the perception that Bitcoin could go to zero. This creates a binary setup: if Bitcoin collapses, the left tail risk is retained, but if it succeeds, the upside potential is massive. This binary dynamic fuels volatility, which benefits MSTR.
In essence, MSTR’s value comes from its leveraged exposure to Bitcoin, the ongoing financial repression, and the flaws in the traditional financial system. I see it as “GME on steroids”—a bet against the broken system we live in.

In the quest for tax-free Bitcoin exposure within a UK ISA or SIPP, the strategy is clear: **invest in $MSTR**. The regulatory environment currently blocks direct #BTC ETFs, but MicroStrategy's substantial Bitcoin reserve acts as a beacon, aligning your investment with Bitcoin's trajectory. Yet, heed this:
- $MSTR's stock isn't a one-to-one reflection of Bitcoin; it's influenced by its own corporate narrative.
- There are other paths, through crypto-adjacent companies or blockchain tech funds, which give you a taste of the #Bitcoin revolution.
Remember, the regulatory winds may shift, unveiling new horizons for direct Bitcoin investment in these tax shelters.
In this era of digital transformation, where Bitcoin stands as the apex of digital scarcity, MicroStrategy is not just an investment; it's a strategic position in the grand chessboard of financial evolution.

Ray Dalio has sounded the alarm: the global debt system is unsustainable, with the U.S., China, and other major economies drowning in liabilities. His advice? Abandon debt-based assets like bonds and move to hard money — specifically, gold and #Bitcoin.
Once a Bitcoin skeptic, Dalio now sees it as digital gold: finite, immutable, and beyond the control of governments and central banks. While gold has been a safe haven for millennia, Bitcoin takes it further — faster, more portable, and immune to seizure. As fiat currencies devalue and debt crises loom, gold and Bitcoin are hitting record highs, a clear signal of where the world is headed.
Dalio’s message echoes a timeless principle: own scarce assets, not promises. Fiat currencies and bonds can be printed and devalued at will, but Bitcoin and gold remain untouchable. The old financial system is cracking, and those who shift to hard money now will be the ones standing when it collapses.

Indeed it has far reaching scope beyond just number go up. #Bitcoin stops governments from printing endless cash to fund wars. Imagine that—no magic money machine for destruction. Just a system where people have control, not politicians.
