“The universe is change; life is opinion.”

You might have not felt tired, but your brain could've been. It probably just needed an oxygen boost... deep breaths can also help with that.

A MANTRA OF MUTUAL INTERDEPENDENCE
“Meditate often on the interconnectedness and mutual interdependence of all things in the universe. For in a sense, all things are mutually woven together and therefore have an affinity for each other—for one thing follows after another according to their tension of movement, their sympathetic stirrings, and the unity of all substance.”
—MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 6.38

Judgment has such a negative connotation. But it shares the same root as judicious, which has a positive connotation to me. I actually am very judgmental. I make judgments all the time. I feel like spiritual bypassing made judgment into a bad thing. Breaking it down into discernment and condemnation might be more useful. I feel like spiritual bypassing captures these under one umbrella, and when that happens, judgment gets labeled as bad and "don't judge" becomes "don't notice". So all sorts of actually bad things are left to fester and cause actual harm, because "judging is bad."
I can be discerning and judge, and not condemn. Discerning is seeing clearly, judgment is making a conclusion from that, and condemnation is an extra layer of contempt that I can choose when to apply. #chillstr

Coffee and Ćejf: Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦

"Ćejf" is a term that is difficult to directly translate into English, but it can be described as a state of mind or a feeling of contentment and satisfaction derived from simple pleasures and enjoying the present moment.
https://blossom.primal.net/b82c2818ae275ab68e02046926d20ec5947f04dfd79e17b6e263338f3801b546.jpg
Ćejf is passing the time with a cup of fresh coffee, engaging in leisurely conversation, and appreciating the atmosphere. There’s mindfulness and intentionality to ćejf, and it can be enacted with friends and family or by oneself.
Enjoying Bosnian coffee, or bosanska kafa, is a tradition that is iconically ćejf. Bosnians will often take an hour or more to drink coffee, enjoying the present moment and appreciating the simple pleasures of life.

Bosnian coffee is more than just a drink – it’s a way of life, a social practice, and a sign of hospitality. It is always served in a cezve, on a large plate, together with a small ceramic cup (fildžan), sugar, and a glass of water.

Hi everyone.
I want to share something personal:
This summer taught me a lot. I hit a point where I couldn't anymore. My body forced me to take a reset and take my well-being seriously.
It was the first time I experienced that kind of full stop, and it opened my eyes to how important mental health is.
I also realized that burnout and depression are real. I am lucky to be well surrounded. I am grateful.
In many ways, it’s been one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had in the past few years.
I’m going through a real transformation, and I’m continuing to grow through it.
I’ll share more soon.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones ❤️🧘♂️

Not only does constant multitasking not leave room for laser focus, it doesn’t leave room for no focus at all i.e. mindfulness. Humans need this. To be still. To be present.

“The Unsaid Has a Mouth”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark tribal trance rite for the sentence you swallow in good company. Ink first. Courage later. Write the want that would ruin the picture. Do not make it noble. Do not make it kind. Let the ugly line finish itself. If it shakes the hand, it belongs on the page. Keep writing until the heat leaves the wrist. Burn it or keep it — the work was the telling. The unsaid has a mouth now.

And before that it was mindfulness
Has anyone here ever achieved lucid separation from their physical body? And been able to go to another physical place in real time? I always thought astral projection was woo woo shit, but there are documented cases now of practitioners assisting in everything from solving crimes to seeing into spaces they don’t have physical access to. There have been covert programs going on for years exploring this phenomenon.
This podcast episodes combines a soothing guided meditation with binaural beats to attempt it. I’ve been bored with the day to day lately. This is just another rabbit hole. Maybe a way to more fully experience consciousness, and to harness the power of the subconscious? Is this something we are meant to tap into? Or are there spiritual (or other) risks? What if one achieves separation and can’t come back? Would that necessarily be bad? So many questions. #astralprojection

“The Dark Gets a Key”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark tribal trance homecoming. I do not bury you again. I bring you in. The thief, the child, the judge, the hunger, the freeze — walk behind me where I can feel you. Not purity. Wholeness. Not a better mask. A complete animal. You can live here without driving. I can live here without exile. The shadow is not the enemy. Abandonment was. Come home. Come home. The dark gets a key and not the throne.

“The Exile Gets a Seat”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark ritual tribal trance for the one you banished and still need. I set a chair. Sit. You do not have to be good to be seen. What did I lock you away to protect? What did you become in the dark? I hear you. You hear me. No one has to vanish for the room to stay standing. The exile gets a seat. The exile gets a name. The exile does not run the house. Stay in the chair. We can talk in the morning.

“The Dream Is a Door”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark ambient tribal trance for the night that will not be polite. The messenger has no manners. Do not tidy the dream. Follow the ugly room. Ask the monster what it wants kept alive. Every chase is a part of you refusing to be late to your own life. I go down. I go down. I bring the image back without killing it. Write the beast. Feed it meaning, not fear alone. The dream is a door that works both ways.

“My Own Weather”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark cinematic trance for the place before the story. No narrative yet — only where it lives: jaw, gut, the small collapse behind the ribs. Stay. Do not fix the wave. Do not name it too early. Let the body finish the sentence it started. I will not run from my own weather. Heat rises. Heat falls. I am still here when it changes shape. Stay. Stay. Stay.

“Hold the Dark with You”, Umbra Nyx — Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark tribal trance aftercare hymn. After the naming and the tracking, the work is only this: stay. The voice does not interrogate the dark; it sits with it. Close your eyes here. I will keep the door in view. When morning finds the window, I’ll still be next to you. No debt, no test, no hurry — room made beside the one who had to carry it alone. Shadow work as companionship. The drums recede. The door stays watched.

“Stay in the Glass”, Umbra Nyx - Shadow Work
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark tribal trance coda for the moment after the naming. No more inventory — only the mirror. The room keeps its distance, the face gives nothing back, and the voice holds the silence open until looking is no longer a flinch. Stay in the glass until the glass is honest. Stay here until the eyes are still. Shadow work as endurance: not insight, not confession, just the refusal to turn away.

“Shadow Work”
Umbra Nyx
Shadow Work.
Songs about working through our respective traumas.
A dark tribal trance rite spoken from the other side of the veil. Hollow sub-bass heartbeat, distant frame drums, and cavern air hold the room while a dry whispered lead walks the shadow through four words it was never allowed to say: sorry, forgiven, thank you, I love you. Each phrase rises through chest voice and delayed falsetto ghost until the full drum circle opens, then collapses back to a single skin slap and the last unvoiced breath. Shadow work as ceremony, not concept — integration spoken in the dark until the drone is all that remains.

I did a three day fasting
I prepared for a week with bone broth, vegetables, yogurt, berries & honey.
I expected hunger and anxiety, but I felt grea! I did yoga, meditation, breathwork, spike mat, and lots of reading
One of the reasons I loved it was learning about autophagy, the body’s natural cellular recycling process.
I’d definitely do it again!

Trying to repress a negative thought can make it fester under the surface. See them, acknowledge them, but don't hold onto them. Let them be ripples in a stream, there for a moment before they float away, replaced by the next ripple. I don't practice Buddhism, but the mindfulness tools it taught me while I studied it I carry with me.

i think meditating on your breath is genuinely the least effective type of meditation but its essentially the only one people know, to the point where people just associate breath meditation with meditation in general.
i like to pick a point far away from me and focus my gaze on it. after just two minutes it feels more effective than 30 minutes of closing my eyes and focusing on my breath.
it makes sense because it does the complete opposite of looking at a screen. instead of passively staring at a screen up close, you actively stare at something far away. it re-balances your brain from all the up-close passive reception.
maybe the breath used to be good, but in the age of technology meditation practices need to change to accomodate the dog shit we're dealing with.
seriously do it for just 2 minutes and see how effective it is

Why do I practice Qigong?
Because Qigong found me through meditation, and I went to try a class. It was a certainty, a divine experience between my soul, my consciousness, and my ego. It was a truth that manifested itself in every cell of my body. When I practice Qigong, I'm in meditation, giving my body the tools it needs to find its own balance.

You ever try to hack your consciousness?
Like deep meditation, sleep deprivation, dancing for hours beyond exhaustion in a trance state, or like high doses of psychedelic drugs taken with that kind of intention?
Or cognitive behavioral therapy / similar things ?
Your mind is like your body, healing PTSD, depression or anything else that's in your mind is like healing a broken leg in a sense, if the bone isn't set right etc.
But it goes way beyond healing traumas.
I just backspaced a bunch of paragraphs but I thought I'll leave the first two, I could go on for hours but it's bedtime now so I'll leave it at that

'The Doors of Perception & Heaven and Hell: is not a book.
It is a key. It is a crowbar for the mind, a chemical crowbar, a philosophical crowbar, a crowbar made of mescaline and mysticism and the strange, terrifying beauty of a world seen without filters.
Aldous Huxley wrote these two essays in 1954 and 1956, long after Brave New World had made him famous, and they are the most personal, the most vulnerable, and the most radical things he ever wrote. He was not a hippie. He was not a dropout.
He was a sixty-year-old intellectual, a scholar, a man who had spent his life in books and ideas. And then he took a drug and discovered that everything he thought he knew about reality was a lie. This is his report.
The first essay, The Doors of Perception, is the account of a single afternoon. Huxley, curious about the potential of psychedelics for spiritual and therapeutic purposes, swallows four-tenths of a gram of mescaline and sits in his study in Los Angeles, waiting.
What happens next is not a trip in the recreational sense. It is a revelation. The folds of his trousers become a labyrinth of infinite complexity.
A vase of flowers becomes a cathedral of light. A chair becomes the throne of God. Time slows to a crawl. Space expands into infinity. Huxley is not hallucinating.
He is seeing. He is seeing the world as it is, stripped of the filters that the brain normally uses to keep us sane. He calls it "the Mind at Large" the vast, unfiltered consciousness that the brain normally blocks out so that we can function in daily life.
Mescaline, he argues, opens the "reducing valve" of the brain and lets the raw data of existence flood in. And it is beautiful. And it is terrifying. And it is true.
The second essay, Heaven and Hell, expands the argument. Huxley explores the nature of visionary experience across cultures and centuries the paintings of Blake, the architecture of cathedrals, the music of Bach, the ecstasies of saints and mystics.
He argues that human beings have always sought ways to open the doors of perception: through art, through religion, through fasting, through meditation, through drugs.
He examines the paradox of visionary experience: that it is both heavenly and hellish, that it can reveal the divine and the demonic, that it can heal and it can destroy. He does not glorify drugs. He does not prescribe them.
He simply observes that the desire to transcend ordinary consciousness is universal, and that the pursuit of that desire has shaped human culture in ways we do not fully understand.
The title comes from William Blake: "If the doors of perception were cleansed, every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite." Huxley believed that mescaline cleansed the doors. He believed that everyone should have the right to open them.
He believed that the world would be a better place if we could see it as it truly is.

Brief & Bright)

Not by rituals and resolutions, nor by much learning, nor by celibacy, nor even by meditation can you find the supreme, immortal joy of nirvana until you extinguish your self-will.

THE MOST SECURE FORTRESS
“Remember that your ruling reason becomes unconquerable when it rallies and relies on itself, so that it won’t do anything contrary to its own will, even if its position is irrational. How much more unconquerable if its judgments are careful and made rationally? Therefore, the mind freed from passions is an impenetrable fortress—a person has no more secure place of refuge for all time.

Get you some incense, take up meditation, and discover the secrets of the universe. And smell the incense smoke
Kambo is not subtle.
It’s uncomfortable. Intense. And very much impossible to ignore.
But that’s also what I appreciate about it. There’s no escaping into your head.

MAINTAIN COMPOSURE, MAINTAIN CONTROL
“When forced, as it seems, by circumstances into utter confusion, get a hold of yourself quickly. Don’t be locked out of the rhythm any longer than necessary. You’ll be able to keep the beat if you are constantly returning to it.”

FLEXIBILITY OF THE WILL
“Remember that to change your mind and to follow someone’s correction are consistent with a free will. For the action is yours alone—to fulfill its purpose in keeping with your impulse and judgment, and yes, with your intelligence.”

DEALING WITH PAIN
“Whenever you suffer pain, keep in mind that it’s nothing to be ashamed of and that it can’t degrade your guiding intelligence, nor keep it from acting rationally and for the common good. And in most cases you should be helped by the saying of Epicurus, that pain is never unbearable or unending, so you can remember these limits and not add to them in your imagination. Remember too that many common annoyances are pain in disguise, such as sleepiness, fever and loss of appetite. When they start to get you down, tell yourself you are giving in to pain.”
