The 2.58 bits per roll is assuming perfectly fair dice. Cheap dice most likely don't achieve the 2.58 bits. They could be 2.4 or something lower. It's just a safety net to ensure you actually achieve the 256 bits.

One thing I've learned the past couple days is if you're not using precision dice, i.e. casino dice, make sure to over roll to account for the entropy loss from cheaper dice. It'll still get hashed down to 256-bits.
This is really going to mess up my follow list. The npubs that are never here until they need some engagement and screw up my 1 month no activity unfollow rule.
