Last Notes
I was a teenager when I first learned about Bitcoin, and at first for me it was cool computer stuff.
Then years later I thought about Bitcoin again but greed motivated me, and gambled, lost about $300 stopped using crypto for 3 years.
Then in 2021 the pump motivated me to learn more again but as I learned it was less about greed, and more about the technology again.
But now my love for the technology makes me disgusted by the greed because we are sacrificing long term adoption for short term narratives.
Yes, greed motivates people to come but it should not be the reason they stay.
We need to teach people about Bitcoin/Crypto so they actually know what they’re doing.
Because when it comes to gaining money they’re better off with stocks, and yes I know muh fiat, we’re trying to kill the banks but we’re not going to kill the banks by becoming the banks.
We’re going to kill the banks by starving them of capital, not by feeding them.

Hope you aren't talking about NVK.
Instead of properly looking at his stuff. He instantly denied it and placed blame on user error. Potentially compounding the issue by making a statement that tunred out to be false.
'Not my company, some user input a compromised seed'
Not sure why anyone would trust that company anymore.
The license change back in the day was writing in the wall, along with the hair splitting of what open source was, and his definition of it.
In my early days, crypto was more of a curious little computer project.
Thought it was interesting played around with it, then I learned about investing, stocks, bonds, etc.
Got greedy, gambled on Bitcoin.
Didn’t understand asset appreciation over time.
It’s whatever, I learned, I know.
My future kids if I am fortunate enough to have any will learn great lessons from me on finance both fiat, and crypto.
I will grow, and buy a Trezor, foundation, or build a signer, etc.
Buy P2P, or mine it.
Right now I can’t but one day in the future I will be able to.
That’s life.
If you have funds on a Seed without a Passphrase that was generated on a CC with fw version lower than 4.0.1, make sure to move them to a secure wallet with sufficient entropy asap. Stay safe out there.

Fair point.
Hope it comes back, I really liked Aegis, seems like good software, hate to see it disappear.
you KNOW this is all going to be on the CNBCs as "BTC hacked!" lol..
with every new powerful model coming out, I expect every hardware wallet provider to be attempting to poke holes in their security. Not doing so is just negligence.
Unfortunately, all of my funds are currently on a Ledger.
I know I’m beyond cooked.
I bought it when I was a noob, and unfortunately just have not had time, money, or resources to upgrade to a more reliable Hardware wallet, or buy clean phone/laptop devices.
My funds are probably safe since I don’t install fake software but I’m probably fucking not, got double exposed via Coinbase, and Ledger hacks for personal information.
This is the price we all paid as early crypto explorers unfortunately, except for the hardcore Cypherpunk/Cryptoanarchist people.
I intend to become hardened as time goes on but right now, I just play the game.
But once I’m making big boi bucks then I’m buying fat stacks $500+ P2P if I ain’t mining it myself.

Just because someone takes care of your enemies doesn't necessarily make them the good guy.
Main reason why truth, and education beats narratives.
I feel early Bitcoin content was more informal, 99 Bitcoins, Whiteboard Crypto, Andreas, etc.
Nowadays, it’s some, zoom in swoop, panoramic pivot, why Bitcoin is more valuable than your butthole, come buy our corporate sponsors products.
To clarify, there’s still good content out there, and of course BTC Sessions is one of the best, major respect to him.
But it was that old school content in around 2016 that convinced me to mine on a shitty dell laptop in an electrum wallet until some component blitzed out.
I also went through my degen hodl day trade speculative phase in 2018, I lost money, hated Bitcoin, crypto, etc. for three years until the 2021 hype cycle, then I finallly went big boi mode, and learned.
Me, and my friend @npub1wsu…uyw3 went hardcore into learning crypto after I was dabbling around with a ledger that I bought.
The rest is history.
I agree, both Trezor, & Foundation seem like good devices in my opinion based off of my research.
I don’t know which one I’ll ultimately lean on, I’m leaning towards foundation since they haven’t been hacked yet.
To clarify, Trezor is good too but the stigma of previous exploits still linger in people’s mind, and it’s totally plausible that it could happen to foundation too.
Do you have any strong point on why you prefer Trezor over Foundation?
Also were you always favorable of Trezor previously, or is it more so newfound?
You’re more knowledgeable on this than I am, so different insight would be appreciated 🙏.
If you don’t feel comfortable answering publicly you could dm me your reply via signal, or email too.
'Karma is real.' (SeedSigner)
When things like this happen it is hard to tell the difference between incopetence and malice. The RNG exploit in coldcard could as well have been placed there intentionaly.
I’m really angry at all of for taking on concentration risks, and not having a diversified portfolio.
I really wish more of you would be financially responsible for the money you intend to give to your family.
But you’re all adults, it’s your choices to make, just don’t drag others into your stupidity though please.
The FOSS maxis like to blame the Coldcard license but really, no one is verifying anything
Even if you did not consolidate, all your xpubs are out in the open
More like COLDGATE, amirite?

Just looked into it, almost every notable cryptocurrency has had some problem of some sorts.
Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Z-cash, Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.
Almost every cryptocurrency unfortunately has faced some vulnerability issue.
Beautiful night

BRB, buying Coinbase stock.
Roger Ver Saved Bitcoin.
Vitalik Buterin Saved Bitcoin.
Zooko Wilcox Saved Bitcoin.
Adam Back, Luke Dashjr., Calle, & NVK KILLED BITCOIN!!!
Satoshi, & Hal Finney MADE BITCOIN GREAT!
Basics support experimentation and self-satisfaction
Shitty things happen to shitty people, maybe if Bitcoiners weren’t such dogmatic assholes us “shitcoiners” probably could have looked at the code, and fixed the problem.
I remember when Bitcoin was an open source project that accepted code from other projects like Litecoin, & wanted to free the individual to make the best tradeoffs for themselves.
But today corporate dogmatic fiat maxi speculation culture is rotting Bitcoin away.
That’s why all the serious people in Bitcoin, moved, and started their own coins, or became pragmatic Multi-coiners.
While the most prominent figures now are mostly egotistical assholes that are fucking rude to everyone.
Of course there’s still good people in Bitcoin, who still have time to save face before this thing blows up in their face.
And I respect those who are trying their fucking best and damnedest to save Bitcoin, and make it Cypherpunk/Cryptoanarchist again but HOLY FUCKING SHIT you got to let the horse fucking die, and save yourself.
Not on my Bingo card for this year, I must admit.
As far as I know Signal uses phone numbers mostly to prevent spam. But already today you can create an account and only ever share your username instead of the number.
Hope someone has or we are all fucked. Either way, people will find a way to fight about it for years to come.
While everyone was worrying about whatever threats quantum computing might pose at some point in the future, there are plenty of unmitigated disasters just waiting to happen right now.
More money has been lost due to egos than probably anything else in this space.
Rare Pepes on paper wallets FTW.
Only problem with that is the checksum at the end.
The word “predictable” is working overtime here.

Everyone has cut QA. Too expensive. Always complain about the bugs. Always wanting to do code reviews. So negative. Not fun.

Don't murder your offspring.

Mk3 and potential 4 and 5. Seedphrases generated from those are venerable. If you have a seedphrase on them that was generated elsewhere or dice rolled you’re okay
Yeah, no. Use a software wallet or a hardware wallet that's not been compromised, or with a custom imported seed from dice rolling or something like that.
Not really. The effort to attack 1 wallet or 1000 or a multisig or 1000 multisig is the same.
I don't have the nerves to be all-in Bitcoin.
Ew lol all those alternatives are terrible compared to self custody. Trezor doesn't count lol
I'm interested in this as well.
I smell gov't intelligence op.
#nevent1q…wehm
So sorry for your loss 😭😭😭
New ColdCard ad just dropped.
