Nice. I'm more soft tinfoil hat. I think NVK is just naturally evil and this bug happened organically from his bad design and management philosophies (all of his philosophy is bad). Then the state noticed it, and exploited it for just this kind of occasion, and initiated the drain when called upon for a convenient attack, possibly still upcoming with miner collusion at the BIP-110 mandatory signalling height.

Yeah I was thinking that the state maybe just knew about this exploit and went ahead and coordinated the brute force attack and the wallet drain, timing it right before a contentious soft fork and possibly using miner collusion to force a further stochastic loss of funds and FUD around block reorgs changing confirmation times (keep your old backups!!) And notice they have been censoring r/Bitcoin
