Nadat Forum voor Democratie een eigen school heeft geopend in Almere, is het nu de beurt aan 50PLUS. Ook deze politieke partij lanceert nu een eigen basisschool, in Waalwijk. Volgens partijleider Jan Struijs is een school nodig om "specialisten en experts op te leiden die later het 50PLUS-gedachtegoed kunnen uitdragen." De kinderen die Groep 1 vormen op de school, zijn pas vier jaar oud, want: "Jong geleerd is oud gedaan."
"Voor de dertien leerlingen die vandaag starten op de Krolschool [een eerbetoon aan voormalig lijsttrekker Henk Krol, red.] hebben we een speciaal lesprogramma, waarin we de focus leggen op typische 50PLUS-onderwerpen", stelt Struijs. "Zo leren ze rekenen aan de hand van praktische AOW-voorbeelden. Gymmen doen ze volgens het Nederland in Beweging-principe, met rustige, overzichtelijke oefeningen. Ook is er elke dag een media-uurtje, waarin de leerlingen gezamenlijk kijken naar oude afleveringen van Toen was geluk heel gewoon."
Struijs stelt: "Het is niet meer dan logisch dat we nu alvast bezig zijn met onze toekomst. Oud worden moet je vroeg leren. Door leerlingen nu alvast te helpen aan het 50PLUS-DNA, zorgen we dat de partij over enkele decennia heel groot kan worden. We hopen hier rond 2080 de vruchten van te plukken. Mogelijk nog iets later, maar dat is een beetje afhankelijk van de pensioenleeftijd rond die tijd."
Staatssecretaris Judith Tielen (Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap) is kritisch op de Krolschool: "Hoewel we de vrijheid van onderwijs natuurlijk hoog in het vaandel hebben staan, baart het me zorgen dat deze kinderen nu al geïndoctrineerd worden met het 50PLUS-gedachtegoed. Je kan je afvragen of vierjarigen niet wat te jong zijn om nu al naar oude beelden van vakbondsleiders of uitzendingen van MAX Vakantieman te kijken."

I've encountered the same problem in writing fiction and thinking about software design.
The better you understand a complex #system, the harder it becomes to know what somebody else needs to understand about it.
Writers must decide what the reader needs to know. Designers must decide what the user needs to know.
