I would definitely agree with the hashtag advice - I didn’t really understand it at first, since a few years ago the trend was to just add “str” to whatever word you’re tagging. For example “watchstr” points to anything related to watches, “artstr” is for art, etc.
over time, though, nostr has grown in size and functionality so simply adding “str” doesn’t matter much.
That said, if you’re interested in a topic, there are some terms that are nostr-specific, like Shakespeare is one of the more widely-used ai tools for building things. You might not have heard about the ai tool Shakespeare outside of nostr.
As far as bots are concerned, I agree with Beave on that one as well. They’re pretty easy to spot.
Usually they write trite-sounding two- or three-sentence posts that seem a little too bland to be real people.
Now, that said, there is a project on Nostr that several folks are working on to help sort out bots and give an actual “score” to show how much you can trust the author. It’s called the Web of Trust - where a score is between 0 and 1, instead of between 0 and infinity, which eliminates the ability to “buy” followers.
If you’re interested in learning more about that subject, @npub1u5n…ldq3 has a lot to say about it. He’s the one who introduced the idea to me a long time ago. Not all clients use the Web of Trust function; Amethyst and nostria.app are the two that come to mind.
All of that said, your Nostr experience will be GREATLY shaped by which relays you use. Basically, relays are the way that determine what information is shown to you, and who sees your posts.
I wouldnt get discouraged at this, but default relays will give you basic, but not always reliable, information. The “number of followers” will vary widely based on which relays you use. You may see that you have 1,000 followers on primal. Most of those are bots that you will never interact with.
Nostr.land is a paid relay, but it’s extremely cheap, and very reliable. It made a world of difference for me.

You know it's kind of obvious in hindsight, that just like a "protect children bill" actively would harm children and only act to prevent adults from protecting them themselves, AI companies asking for regulation to slow down AI and protect humanity against it will only work to protect AI against humans.

I've considered taking some time to post more deeply about long term health issues and severe burnout I've been struggling with. Right now I mostly limit it to replies to people who post about similar struggles.
I think people would say they are interested but it would probably be seen as a downer and lose me followers if I did it too long.
I see lots of hug emojis and mindless encouraging platitudes when other people post honest struggles. That sort of this mostly annoys me. I've always thought "thoughts and prayers" felt like it would feel insulting to someone really struggling or in a bad place. Now that I've spent some time really struggling I know I was right, at least for me.

0-conf is an illusion. RBF did not chanfe anything.
You could direct connect to the miner nodes, and broadcast a double spend to them at the same time as you send the merchant a payment TX.
They will only accept the first tx they see, so the double spend gets mined, but the merchant believes 0conf.
If everyone uses centralized permissioned "Bitcoin," it doesn't matter if the base layer is decentralized.
The mempool is empty and fees are insignificant, what's your rush to go to higher layers?
