Like if you expect a business to make less than 1-3% in this fiat environment, you're advocating for charity. That's an incredibly thin margin and I wouldn't do it unless I had something on the other side to make it worthwhile. This is exactly why I mentioned Walmart. The big guys in that space aren't actually grocers . They just deal with them because it pays somewhere else. If you want those small town grocers again, you're not going to pay them less for food. People are living in fantasy land.
There ARE plenty of issues in food and the fiat system. But forcing grocery stores to lower prices isn't going to work because that isnt where the issue actually is.
If I'm wrong I'd love to learn why.

My issue with the whole corporate greed thing is that the consumers are doing the exact same thing when they shop at a competitor for lower prices, want higher prices for things they sell (labor mostly), etc. "Greed" has been used as a broad description of basic economics and means little to me these days. Most people don't intentionally take less money than they have to, yet expect corporations (made up of people) to do that. Makes no sense to me.
In most areas, grocery is pretty much at the floor of profit margins. And if you only have one option in the area, I suspect the economic reality is shitty in general and not the fault of the single grocer. Their operating costs are probably higher too.

I sometimes see bumper stickers saying the Tesla was bought before current Musk or something to that effect. The reality is probably mixed and dependent upon location. I also suspect that most of these people will eventually be forced to capitulate and rank politics lower. Ideology comes at a cost, and I doubt most of them can afford it. I make some ideological economic decisions and I'm the first to admit that I have to pay for them in various ways. I won't buy a Tesla for several reasons, but I am looking at a Slate truck. Some of it is preference, some ideology. Either way, there are costs and for the price, most people will probably choose a Tesla. I happen to hate all the tech but most people probably won't ride in something with fewer features or higher costs just to avoid Musk. That's a pretty privileged position to take.
Those who can afford it are probably a pretty small minority these days. The people who don't give a fuck just aren't as loud, which is typical.
