The biggest misconception I see is that food in 🇪🇺 Europe is automatically safe, and 🇺🇸 America is the only one with a problem.
Yes America’s food supply is insane.
But a few 🇪🇺 things most people have no idea about:
1. In 2023, EU countries couldn’t agree on whether to keep glyphosate. So the Commission renewed it anyway. For 10 more years. 💀
2. Almost 1 in 10 food samples tested in the EU contains residues of pesticides that are BANNED in the EU. They come back in through imports, completely legally. 🚢
3. Pesticides which are “banned” for killing bees got over 200 emergency exemptions to keep being used. 🐝
4. Right now, the EU 🇪🇺 wants to make pesticide ☢️ approvals UNLIMITED. Approved once, never safety-checked again. Now gene-edited food with no label is next.
