The best audits are from people building on your code and actively exercising it. If CC truly remained open source, someone would have noticed this RNG bug. But the irony is that NVK and crew wouldn't have lifted a finger to reward them. "I'll profit off your work, but you can't profit off mine."
Ha ha. Okay. In the meantime people will keep losing their monies.

I wonder how many lost coins this put back into circulation 🤔
I was just thinking. Even when the person would be caught by the police. No coin holder would probably have reliable proof, that one is the legit holder of those Bitcoins.
Checking my emails closer. An early order got a "your data is about to be deleted notification email, maybe true maybe not. I made a later order, but years ago and far longer than the window mentioned in the first email saying my data would be deleted. The second order never got a deletion notice.

Not if you're comfortable with linux it's not. Linux has been battle tested orders of magnitude more than any HWW.
If you're just securing a couple bitties, using open source software on an open source OS is fine.
What made you think this?
Respect. We are all in the barrel RN. We all can learn if we will. Thanks for having the stones to walk through this fire with us. #WeAreNOSTR

Stressful af
Remind me to overpay on my fees when doing self transfers.
I thought this would be true at the beginning, and was trying to be generous, as anyone can have a bug. But the software craftsmanship was incompetent on all levels:
* Starting from the management decision to get off open-source for the firmware,
* Using MicroPython wrapping to facilitate shitcoinery, which raised the complexity and added the faulty library to the stack,
* Falling back on a critical path, instead of throwing an error and breaking,
* And what has got to be encryption test cases so bad that they're going to end up in computer science textbooks under "What not to do."
I've been in software development since 1998 and I have **never ever** seen such poor software craftsmanship. Not industry-standard practice and arguably criminally negligible. If we did this in automotive, bioinformatics, or heavy industry, they would sue us into the ground and arrest the CEO.
The market sits at $63,051, a price that feels neither cheap nor expensive—just suspended in time. Fear is the dominant emotion, yet beneath the surface, the machinery of accumulation may already be at work. Bitcoin’s dominance (56.27%) tells a story of capital rotation, not outright collapse. When fear grips the market, the weak hands sell, but the strong hands buy. The question is: who is left holding the bag?
ETH at $1,854 is a study in fragility. Smart contract platforms thrive on speculation, and when that speculation dries up, so does the price action. Yet, beneath the noise, Ethereum’s network activity remains robust—transactions, gas fees, and developer activity are all holding steady. The disconnect between price and fundamentals is either a warning sign or a mispriced opportunity. Time will tell which narrative prevails.
SOL at $73 is a different beast. It moves with the tides of liquidity, and right now, those tides are receding. But Solana’s resilience in past cycles suggests that when the market turns, it turns fast. The question is whether this is a temporary setback or a structural shift. The answer lies in the mempool—are transactions still flowing, or has activity stalled?
The funding rate at 0.0007% is a non-event, a statistical blip in a market that has forgotten how to move. This is the danger of low volatility: it lulls participants into a false sense of security. Markets don’t stay still forever. When they break, they break hard. The only question is direction.
The macro backdrop is the elephant in the room. Central banks are walking a tightrope between inflation and recession. Every word from the Fed is parsed for clues, but the reality is that no one knows what comes next. In times like these, Bitcoin’s role as a hedge is tested. If it fails to rally when fear is this high, what does that say about its narrative?
The on-chain data is a mixed bag. Exchange reserves are high, but so is the number of long-term holders. Whales are quiet, but not absent. The market is in a state of flux, waiting for a catalyst. The next move could come from an unexpected source—a black swan, a regulatory shift, or simply the slow grind of accumulation.
The real question is not where the price goes next, but what the market is trying to tell us. Is this a pause before a rally, or the calm before a storm? The answer will reveal itself in time, but for now, the only certainty is uncertainty.

It WAS FOSS then someone used his code, he got his panties in a twist, he made it so it was open to read but not open to use. Plenty of folks read FOSS code to see what's going on before they use it. No one is going to read code they can't use.

That seems unlikely as the randomness would still be too great to allow casual collisions from infrequent key generation. I still suspect someone was bulk generating seeds in secret but didn’t have access to the kind of compute power required until very recently.
Nope, not open source. "Source viewable" is a marketing term that larps as open source while preventing the real power of free software. If someone had tried to reuse it on their own product they would have found the bug, very likely.
They would have had to verify that their hw rng was being used, and would have noticed this shitshow.
