Reputation under pseudonymity is the starting point. A persistent key with two years of public history has something to lose if its holder cheats. Most transactions need a narrow fact, and zero-knowledge credentials extend selective disclosure without handing over the underlying record.

Thats all good and ok, but ''just trust and use the client''-mode i.e. full permissions, is a really nice default. I am working on a permission system that i want to integrate into the signer level, so its not that i am against leveraging control at the signer level.
Its just that it can also only be just an interoperability tool, with the safeguard to kill the session and not risking your keypair; as an alternative to putting your keypair in the client.
My node at statoshi.info calls gettxoutsetinfo automatically after each block 😏
