My year in review.

I’m not one to write long posts, so I will keep this short.

2023 has been an interesting year for me. There were plenty of ups and downs but I’m mostly grateful for the ride we had together.

Heading in to 2023, I was preparing for the bear market lull, it’s time to rest, the past two years had been hectic, I’ve release three translations and was constantly giving talks, lectures, seminars, interview almost everyday, I’ve also co-founded Right Shift with the guys but ultimately, I plan to have a quiet, peaceful 2023 to myself.

And I did just that, I put *The Fiat Standard* translation on hold jsut for a bit and spent most of January just lazing about, playing games, hanging out with the kids. I managed to 100% Persona 5 Royale which was a great experience and I was feeling energized, but nothing would prepare me for what is to come.

Late 2022 I heard of this new decentralized social network called Nostr but haven’t had the time to dig into it. It’s only after seeing an acquaintance sharing his vanity pubkey on Facebook that I decided to give it a try, I played around with it for a bit then generated my own vanity pubkey, but even then I only check back in about once or week or every two weeks.

Soon after that, in February, I was invited to talk about Bitcoin, technology, money, and innovation at the Blockmountain conference in Chiangmai. I talked about many things, mostly how the IMF, World Bank, and WTO managed to drain all the wealth from ‘developing countries’ through their predatory credit schemes. But at the end of the talk, I mentioned Nostr and how I think this little thing could grow to become an integral puzzle piece of Bitcoin and freedom tech in general, how the ‘other stuff’ could lead to a slew of free market innovations, I showed people how easy it is to send and receive zaps and the beauty of V4V.

But even then, I still spend most of my time on Twitter.

In March, with the COVID restrictions lifted, I was able to go to my first Bitcoin conference outside of Thailand. At the VIetnam Lightning Con I got a chance to meet many of the people I look up to and that was an awesome experience to say the least. I met Elitzabeth Stark, , Peter Todd, , , Albert Bu, , and many other cool guys. I also took the opportunity to announce the Thailand Bitcoin Conference that we’ve been planning for the past few months and to let people know of the Thai Bitcoin community.

From then up until July, we focused on putting together Thailand’s first Bitcoin only conferences together with and . It was hard reaching out to speakers and sponsors as we are not well known anywhere outside of Thailand, but we managed to pull through with an amazing turnout, we also learned a lot along the way. Thankyou to all the speakers, sponsors, and all the attendees, you guys are amazing. This is when I met who translated the Japanese version of The Bitcoin Standard and learned that she resides in Bangkok.

By the end of July, Twitter was killed off and changed to X, this made me switch to Nostr full time following 's advise to get away from social media platforms and their algorithms, this was an eye opening experience for me and I started talking about Nostr more and more each week, bringing Thai plebs onto the protocol and starting a nice little community of happy zappers.

After the event, we decided to start a new podcast/livestream called The Orange Pill Council, where the guys from Right Shift get together and just chill. It turned out to be a great success, People really enjoyed the show and the guys was able to find their voices. It was from this decision that Right Shift started blooming into what it is today, with diverse content, targeting a wider group of audiences, ready to be the next beacon of knowledge and information comes the next bull run.
and we are still waiting for you
and all the amzing artworks from

Also started a health focused show on Nostr, with huge following and that is really cool.

In August I started my annual trading course for my father’s company. Being in Bitcoin for a few years, I’ve effectively left my trading background behind, so it was a bit rough trying to find a comfortable ground between trading professionally and just staying humble and stacking sats. The course prompted me to revisit a lot of my core beliefs and I believe I have found a ground to stand on, next year should be interesting.

This is also about the time I got back in the gym, I had been neglecting excercise and it’s taking a toll on my body, being back is great, and I found that I can build muscle much faster while being on an almost carnivore diet, so that’s cool.

August is when I also decided to ramp up my translation project for the Fiat Standard, with the goal of finishing the second drafts before year’s end, which I did, it will be available in stores in a few month, ready for the next wave of newcomers.

In September Dea asked me to go to a Libertarian Think Tank event in Malaysia, The Atlas Foundation conference, it was a very interesting experience, I went in blind and found a large group of libertarians who haven’t heard of, or seriously considered Bitcoin or that their problems could be the result of the Fiat monetary system. We had fun Orange Pilling people at the event and hope to at least sparked some interest to like minded people.

And in October, I went to the Indonesian Bitcoin conference, taking two guys from the Right Shift team with me. It was a blast, we learned a lot about what makes a great Bitcoin conference and hope to apply some of our learnings to Thailand’s Bitcoin Conference 2024. This was also the time the Thai Nostr community is growing really fast and becoming very active, to all the Thai plebs rocking on Nostr, you guys are legendary. It was also great meeting and getting the chance to talk to you are amazing man, I love you,
I also got nervous talking to but as a long time Hodlhodl fan it was nice meeting you 😄 And many other people I don't have the npubs to or just forgot to mention, you did an amazing job.

The last two months I spent dashing through the Fiat Standard, finishing out the second draft of the translation and sending it over for further editing with the publishers, I expect to get a copy to proof read very soon, it’s a great book and I hope Thai people could get to read it without the language barrier. We’ve also started on more translation projects, I’m editing / proofing two more books as I write and they are coming along very nicely.

Overall, 2023 was a pretty productive year. I got to read a lot of great books, some of the most notable are Fraud Coin by , ’s Broken Money, Outlive by Peter Attia was also enlightening, Matthew Lysiak's Fiat Food and 's Fiat Ruin Everything are both masterpieces and a great read. I tried reading the Wealth of Nations to my kids like did but ended up reading Harry Potter instead. We successfully organized Thailand’s first Bitcoin only conference with all the tickets sold out, I finished a book translation, I got my portfolio and trading bots up and running again in all markets. There wasn’t a lot of interviews and talks this year as the public’s interest in Bitcoin has died down but I feel, no, we feel better prepared and more ready than ever for what’s to come.

I am thankful for the Right Shift team, you guys are the dream team I could never have dreamt of working with, and also a big thankyou to all the Thai plebs who stuck around this year, you guys were my inspiration to keep doing what I do, we’ve been through a lot together and no matter what happens, you guys are fucking legendary.
you are a legend
thank you for taking up the task of #north101
