@npub1dkf…z4wz Lemme jump in here with some more context of this BS they pulled in Monster Hunter as well. I'm guilty of owning World and Rise as well as the extensions, but I think there are a few things that kept the MH and RE fanbase quiet(er).
MH World and Rise were complete enough, but the stink of limited character (re)creation was always there. Here's the funny thing though. Since our save data is local, it is possible to modify all of our characters' visual data by modifying the save data. They sell character edit vouchers, so you have LIMITED character editing in a single player game. The fact that Crapcom never went after this mod is quite interesting, perhaps they knew they couldn't risk the bad PR since I'm sure they could bully and then pressure a legal case of impeding sales. I never liked it, but the game was complete and customizable enough that I think most people just turned to mod support and never really said anything.
Fast forward to MH Rise, there was some more sentiment about how hard Crapcom was pushing microtransactions. Not huge though, and not enough to stop people from buying them or even buying the game entirely. The same character edit voucher is still in the game but I think very few people wanted to recreate their characters anyway.
But now in DD2, look where the slippery slope has gotten. This is beyond just "a microtransaction," this is fundamental, game-function scumbaggery.

I think the interesting thing going on here is the dichotomy in perspective. To these consultants, they are simply analyzing the market and helping enlighten game studios about how they should write, present, and design their games. Nothing nefarious is going on, they are simply offering genuine, academic advice. However, everyone else sees it completely differently! What's actually happening is these subverters that drank their own Kool-Aid are subtly destroying the very medium itself. They've been convinced the colloquial pre-established "gamers" are the actual problem, and the "modern audience" is the true demographic going forward.
This guy made a huge mistake talking to her, and now he's about to turn on his own side. Like this snippet here. Before there was no problem with something such as their Discord's politics chat, until he got cornered into playing optics. This one is lost, I'm afraid.

So I learned that the Palword devs, Pocketpair Inc, are JP. Man look at that, they got tricked into adding Body Type A/B into the game :kekw:
Now, it's funny, because the gun additions are also justified with "Americans are doing this thing." But unlike Body Type A/B, it was a lucky choice, because it made the game absurd and hilarious for the better. Their market presence is amplified due to it. A thing done right, for the wrong reason.

@npub1z06…7fpu Well, this isn't a convo about whether easy modes are good or not. Lapin wanted a game that was fun, and I proposed under the context "if the game offers it." If it's already there, there's not much you can do.
That being said I do agree, I much prefer games that have one intended set difficulty. The only difficulty gradients I accept are the ones that actually tinker the game's encounters beyond stat boosts, and whether certain content is locked behind difficulties (true endings, bonus content, achievements, etc.)

Though usually if I'm on such low power that I want to play games on easy I usually draw or go outside :vajra_comfy:

The fundamentals of English is being screwed up as a result. My guess is they co-opted it because made up pronouns like xi and xer didn't worm its way into regular syntax like the existing words they and them.

@npub1z06…7fpu Such is RoR1. It's pretty brutal with teleporter spawns and you simply getting overwhelmed because you took too long and failed to scale. I've had very good runs so far with Drifter because she is quite frankly quite OP (Monsoon of course. I can handle more than Drizzle!). Just have to get a sense of how to scour the map; such is the way of learning the game. It's no different than with Enter the Gungeon and figuring out how the game usually spawns the boss rooms. But in EtG, you aren't pressed for time where enemies will be able to rape you with pure stats!
It's what sets RoR apart from other roguelikes, but at the same time, is also its most contentious design point. The runs you succeed are the ones you hit the teleporter quickly and loot while the teleporter event is going on. The ones you fail are the ones where you spend too much time dilly-dallying or looting as the game scales beyond the current stage's provided power.

@npub1jju…533h I was saying this when I was playing the game... I really, really love playing with 4 shotguns because it's so satisfying to just pump and shoot as you cruise through a level. However, what really kept me from trying out AR/automatic ballistics builds was that they just... sucked.
Honestly Ludlows were what I used to win against Balteus but even after unlocking the Scudder later in the game, it just... sucked *in comparison*. At least, in comparison to other options like missile builds (I used this to beat the Ibis series) and the hilarious shotgun builds. So it was either everything else was OP or the ARs and SMGs sucked. Yeah, it was the latter.

This is interesting. Square is reporting big losses, and it's no surprise. They were excited about FF16's sales on the first week, but it plummeted 90% afterwards. It was not the system seller Sony/SQE thought it would be, and they had to fight Microsoft in court.
Microsoft gave up the console wars (Xbox is technically doing worse than PS), but Microsoft is now getting GamePass on pretty much everything. Sony does not have anything over MS nor Nintendo.

Future Redeemed didn't do anything either. I don't really understand how people can say they are satisfied with the ending of "the trilogy." What, just because we stopped Moebius and gave a prequel? The unfinished, not even ambiguous, endings are what irritate me.
I really thought XC3 was going to be a union of the worlds on the new landmass we see at the end of XC2. Building a new future together after all the things that have transpired felt like the best way to wrap up the dual worlds of Klaus, like two halves joining once again. Idk, I just never could get invested into XC3.

I am still laughing at the writing for the Qwib Qwib scene's penis joke in Mass Effect 2.
Admiral Koris has contemplated changing his ship name to Dehfranz, or the Iktomi. The Quarians use a naming system of <First Name> Vas <Ship Name>. Dehfranz is corruption of "Vas Deferens," which is a real medical name that refers to the duct that carries sperm from the testicle in the male reproductive organ. And of course, Iktomi when read as a Quarian name sounds like vasectomy.
Yknow, part of my writing process is just deep diving into literatures and archives to find names, and then recontextualizing their meanings to fit your canon. Maybe corrupt them a little bit to make the reference less obvious. It's been a lot of fun, but also really enlightening to come across ancient words and syllables used for games media I'm familiar with. For example, Chesed, a Hebrew name, is used in Blue Archive and Library of Ruina.
