That is interesting, thank you. It seemed like the vast majority of my friends from school went to university (in 1994)... those who didn't seem to also be the ones who've never left our home town in Suffolk and have already paid off their mortgages.
Does the increase in saturation lead to dilution of the value for employment? Not all jobs need a degree: mine certainly doesn't, but I don't underestimate the value of getting away from home at 18 and living in Cardiff for 3 years

I do think there are three problems: students are now customers and want to get good value for money; getting a degree no longer equals getting a 'better' job (they see the poor ROI) and many of their friends are getting paid apprenticeships and having a good life with less debt.
My daughter is going to Swansea partly because the senior team sold it well to her rather than Plymouth who seemed to think their brand was good enough.
My generation nearly all went as it was 'free'.

Getting Download Festival ready with my eldest son (aged 31), who has learning difficulties but loves a mosh. Last year he ended the day with both his phone and his hoodie completely vanished. My number will be Sharpied onto his arm too.
Thanks to ChatGPT writing the code for this it was very simple (and hosted on tiiny.site). It doesn't need to scale and it doesn't need to be hugely robust, so LLM creations with tweaking by me is fine.
