One nice thing as a consumer of software is there is no more option. If they FA we will FO like we were supposed to all along but it turns out no one was really looking. I also think this will open a huge delta in quality between closed and open code.

To me it feels the best bet between affordable, reasonable privacy with /e/-OS, while having good bets to become a device where all bigger mobile linux OSs will be developed on. And security updates until 2033 is quiet promising.
And with Googles step towards closing open appstores and GrapheneOS complaining about getting less access to the source, I see Linux as the only longterm bet to avoid BigTec surveillance.
I rather leave their whole ecosystem behind and promote the use of com unity driven software. FOSS is a huge light in the dark. And I want to not miss out in this.

Japan I do not know. But America is known to have almost no efforts to train prisoners to become good neighbors.
Denmark (and maby also countries like Sweden or Finland) has a very strong prison system, where they invest a lot in educating prisoners to become valuable citizens when they leave.

But other question. When it comes to stealing. Would you also punish people the same way, when someone profits from the vulnerable situation of someone to offer them an irrationally bad deal?
For example when someone has an accident on the street and I am the only person that is around to help. Would it be stealing, when I request from the person to offer me 1k dollars to drive them to the next hospital?
