I will agree that it's a unit of measurement that has outgrown its usefulness for amounts that matter to the average person.
Furthermore, I will conceed that it's an arbitrary construction and that sats are what actually appear in the base code. It's as if we treated Avogadro's number as the "real" unit and small numbers of atoms as fractions thereof. Kind of ridiculous when you think about it that way.
I do think this will be a hard thing to change though. Cultural inertia and all that. Maybe what ends up changing is just people's familiarity and comfort with sats as a unit.
I have to ask though, does your excited nephew understand that you haven't gifted him $8.5 billion equivalent?

Agreed, and that's the hard part. A valid point doesn't stop being valid because the person delivering it is an ass about it.. If I look into it and they turn out to be right, then I should change my view, otherwise I never really looked. Most of us only take criticism seriously from people we already like, and the useful stuff tends to come from the ones we don't.

I might be naive, but what fundamentally worries me about (especially proprietary) TEE is that it makes clearer, to lower levels of hardware, that particular memory regions are used for sensitive information. I worry whether it's potentially ironically even more vulnerable specifically for firmware attackers (of whatever related components and the TEEs themselves).
