What were you trying to do? 😂😅
> then you request the Graphene team to work on this solution
Also, this is not how it works. Every request in every FOSS project is a *proposition* of something; it's never an obligation for devs implementing anything. A proposition is an open discussion, which might be ignored or might be responded to in some way.
A typical universal rejection response would be "this significantly increases complexity; we don't have resources to support such a feature"—which is easy to use as some kind of excuse, but still okay. This automatically ends many unnecessary debates and drama.
Their response, however, is different, and this response was challenged by others. And somebody appeared to receive an aggressive, irrational kind of response from GOS, which damages GOS' reputation and shows some kind of paradoxical divergence from their project vision and values they try to represent in the stuff they have on their website and their social media posts (like the OP post about opposing authoritarianism in particular).
The declared vision/values themselves are good; the way they execute these values is a trouble. Doubts arise; for instance, are they actually opposing authoritarianism, or are they opposing their hallucinations about authoritarianism while ignoring points from those who live or used to live under the actual authoritarian regimes?
Those who got it—unmotivated to propose them anything, since every proposal is energy-consuming. So if it's not rooting, then forking GOS and implementing whatever is needed might be a better rational approach for those who have enough resources. I hope this makes sense.

BASH D’CRUZ — THE LAST SIGNAL
Bombay, February 1946.
The Empire was dying, although the men who ran it had not yet received the memorandum.
That was the trouble with empires, Bash D’Cruz thought. They were excellent at issuing orders and remarkably poor at recognising when nobody was listening anymore.
He stood on the wet stones outside the Castle Barracks with rain dripping from the brim of his cap and watched a line of Royal Indian Navy ratings refuse breakfast.
Bad food had started it.
Bad food, bad pay, racial abuse, broken promises after the war.
But nobody mutinies because of breakfast.
Breakfast is simply the match people remember.
Bash knew the fire had been accumulating for years.
He had seen Indian stokers working below the waterline while British officers drank gin above it. He had watched men return from fighting fascism abroad and discover that equality apparently stopped at the gangway.
Now the ratings were angry.
And anger inside a military system was different from anger in the street.
It knew where the armoury was.
A voice behind him said,
“D’Cruz.”
Bash didn't turn.
“That's still my name.”
“Chief wants you.”
The voice belonged to Able Seaman Thomas “Tommy” Callaghan, twenty-two years old, Fremantle-born, sunburned even in monsoon weather, seconded through one of those wartime administrative arrangements that only an empire could create and nobody could properly explain.
When Tommy had first met Bash three months earlier, he'd looked at the brown man with the cross around his neck, heard the immaculate English, noticed the authority with which Indian ratings responded to him and made exactly the wrong assumption.
“You an officer?”
“No.”
“Petty officer?”
“No.”
“Then why's everyone doing what you tell them?”
Bash had looked at him.
“Because what I'm telling them is correct.”
Tommy had laughed.
Bash hadn't.
That was how they began.
---
Three months later, Tommy followed Bash through smoke because he had learned that when Bash D’Cruz said move, philosophy could wait.
The first shots came from somewhere beyond the dockyard wall.
Nobody ever agreed who fired them.
History loves clean beginnings.
Men rarely receive them.
A rifle cracked.
Then another.
Someone screamed.
The harbour erupted.
Ratings scattered between warehouses. Police took positions behind trucks. Civilians surged through streets that had been ordinary fifteen minutes earlier.
Bash saw the entire geometry of it at once.
Open ground.
Two firing positions.
A fuel truck.
Thirty frightened sailors behaving like seventy frightened sailors because panic multiplies faster than men.
He climbed onto a crate.
“DOWN!”
The word cut across the dockyard.
Men dropped instinctively.
Tommy stared.
Bash pointed.
“Rao! Take six men through that workshop. Don't fire unless fired upon.”
“Yes!”
“Fernandes, get those civilians behind the machine shed.”
Fernandes hesitated.
“NOW, MAN.”
He moved.
Tommy crouched beside Bash.
“You always this cheerful?”
“Only at weddings.”
A bullet struck metal somewhere behind them.
Tommy flinched.
Bash didn't.
“Tommy.”
“Yeah?”
“See the lorry?”
“Yeah.”
“Get it moving.”
“There's shooting between me and the bloody lorry.”
Bash finally looked at him.
“Yes. That's why I didn't ask Mrs D'Souza from the parish choir.”
Tommy grinned despite himself.
“Right.”
He ran.
That was when Bash understood he liked the boy.
Not because Tommy was fearless.
Fearless men were usually idiots.
Tommy was terrified and went anyway.
That was different.
---
Ten minutes later Tommy was behind the wheel when a burst of gunfire punched through the windscreen.
The lorry veered.
Bash ran alongside, caught the door and hauled himself onto the running board.
Tommy had blood on his face.
“You hit?”
“Don't think so!”
“Then stop inspecting yourself and steer!”
“I CAN'T SEE!”
“Neither can Britain. Keep going!”
They smashed through a wooden barrier.
Men scattered.
The lorry rolled into cover behind a warehouse.
Tommy killed the engine.
For several seconds neither man spoke.
Then Tommy started laughing.
Not because anything was funny.
Because sometimes the body has to choose between laughter and collapse.
Bash slapped him once across the shoulder.
“Still alive?”
“Apparently.”
“Good. Very inconvenient paperwork otherwise.”
Tommy looked at him.
“You know, when I first met you, I thought you were some stuck-up colonial bastard.”
Bash removed a cigarette from a crushed packet.
“And now?”
Tommy offered him a match.
“Now I know you're a stuck-up colonial bastard.”
Bash took the flame.
“Progress.”
---
That evening they sat on a seawall while Bombay burned in small places.
Behind them were slogans.
Ahead of them was the black Arabian Sea.
Tommy had stolen two bottles of beer.
Bash disapproved of theft.
He drank one.
After a while Tommy said,
“Whose side are you actually on?”
Bash sighed.
“You're Australian. Surely somebody explained complicated sentences before shipping you overseas.”
“Come on.”
Bash watched a launch move across the harbour.
“My father's people worked the railway. Mother's people were Christians in Kerala before Europeans started arriving with flags and opinions.”
“And you joined the Navy.”
“Yes.”
“For the Empire.”
“No.”
Tommy frowned.
“Then why?”
“Because Japanese bombs don't ask for your politics before landing on your house.”
Tommy considered this.
“Fair.”
Bash drank.
“That's the problem with you fellows.”
“Australians?”
“Imperial people.”
Tommy laughed.
“I'm from Fremantle, mate. Empire barely knows we're there.”
“Precisely why you're tolerable.”
Another silence.
Then Tommy said quietly,
“Think India's going to win?”
Bash looked at him.
“India already exists.”
“You know what I mean.”
“Yes.”
Bash turned toward the lights.
“The British will leave.”
“You sure?”
“Absolutely.”
“How?”
“The same way everyone leaves eventually.”
Tommy waited.
Bash finished his beer.
“When staying becomes more expensive than admitting you were wrong.”
---
The mutiny spread.
Bombay.
Karachi.
Calcutta.
Madras.
Thousands of ratings.
Ships raised flags they weren't supposed to raise.
Orders stopped behaving like orders.
The mythology of British permanence cracked.
And inside that chaos, Tommy Callaghan became Bash's shadow.
Not servant.
Not subordinate.
Mate.
Tommy learned enough Malayalam profanity to disgrace himself in three districts.
Bash learned that Australians regarded every rank above lieutenant as a potentially treatable medical condition.
They drank together.
Fought together.
Got thrown out of one club together, although Bash maintained Tommy had done all the work.
And when eventually the mutiny ended—not with glorious victory but negotiation, surrender, arrests and consequences—they survived it.
That almost made what came afterward unbearable.
Because wars teach men to fear battle.
Cities teach them to fear Tuesday night.
---
It happened six weeks later.
Off duty.
No revolution.
No flag.
No grand historical purpose.
Just opium.
Tommy had followed a dockworker into a warehouse lane because he'd heard the man's daughter had disappeared into one of the dens operating behind the legitimate cargo trade.
He should have called Bash.
He didn't.
Twenty-two-year-old men believe surviving gunfire constitutes a professional qualification in immortality.
By the time Bash heard, the rain had started.
He found the warehouse by following three frightened men who insisted they knew nothing.
Bash believed them exactly as far as the doorway.
Inside, crates rose toward the rafters.
Tea.
Textiles.
Machine parts.
And behind them, unmarked boxes that smelled sweet and medicinal.
A man stepped from the shadows holding a knife.
“Leave.”
Bash removed his coat.
“Where's the Australian?”
“Who?”
Bash folded the coat carefully over a crate.
That frightened the man more than shouting would have.
“The blond idiot.”
Nobody answered.
Bash's voice became softer.
“I'm going to ask once more.”
Someone moved behind him.
The fight was short.
Not beautiful.
Real violence rarely is.
Wood broke.
A bottle shattered.
Someone screamed.
Bash drove one man into a stack of crates, kicked another man's knee sideways and caught the knife wrist of a third before introducing his forehead to the man's nose.
Then he saw Tommy.
Against the far wall.
Sitting strangely.
Blood soaking through his shirt.
Bash stopped.
Everything else in the room became irrelevant.
He crossed the floor.
Tommy looked up.
“Bit of a mess.”
Bash knelt.
“You've looked better.”
“Knew you'd say something like that.”
“Save your breath.”
“That's an order?”
“Yes.”
Tommy smiled faintly.
“Good.”
Bash put pressure against the wound.
Too much blood.
He knew machinery.
He knew engines.
He knew exactly how systems failed.
And because of that, he knew before Tommy did.
Tommy's fingers caught his sleeve.
“Bash.”
“Quiet.”
“Listen.”
“No.”
“Mate.”
That word stopped him.
Tommy swallowed.
“Was I right?”
“About what?”
“You being a colonial bastard.”
Bash stared at him.
Then, despite everything, the corner of his mouth moved.
“Absolutely.”
Tommy smiled.
“Good.”
His hand loosened.
Bash pressed harder.
“Tommy.”
Nothing.
“Thomas.”
Nothing.
For perhaps the first time in his adult life, Sebastian D’Cruz issued an order that wasn't obeyed.
“Stay.”
The warehouse gave him only rain against the roof.
Bash remained there a very long time.
---
Years later people would ask him about the rebellion.
Historians wanted politics.
Journalists wanted heroes.
Nationalists wanted certainty.
British veterans wanted explanations.
Bash gave them very little.
But occasionally, after enough whisky, someone would ask him why an old Australian military tag hung beside the cross around his neck.
Then Bash would become quiet.
“Friend of yours?”
He would rub the scratched metal between his fingers.
“Once.”
“What happened?”
Bash would look toward whatever harbour happened to be nearby.
And sometimes he answered.
“Empire didn't kill him.”
That usually surprised them.
“Who did?”
Bash would finish his drink.
“Men who thought nobody was watching.”
Then he'd stand.
Because that lesson mattered more to him than all the flags.
Empires killed loudly.
Greed killed quietly.
And somewhere between them lived ordinary men who deserved somebody willing to notice.
Tommy had once asked Bash whose side he was on.
Years later Bash finally understood the answer.
Not Britain.
Not rebellion.
Not Rome.
Not India as an abstraction.
People.
The railway worker beside the track.
The sailor below deck.
The widow waiting at the harbour.
The idiot Australian who crossed a warehouse door alone because someone else's daughter might be inside.
Bash touched the two pieces of metal at his chest.
The cross.
And Tommy's tag.
Then he walked back into the rain.
There was always another bastard somewhere who believed nobody was watching.
