Generating a seed phrase is going to turn into full blown ritual magic. 100 dice, Faraday cage, phone outside the house, power turned off, back robe, salt circle, full moon, etc.
Led trivia until the final question tonight; something to do with 2024 containing two billboard hits containing the dead celebrity Houdini.
Don't ask me.
GN all.

We onboarded normies to the internet and now look at the mess, maybe it's a mistake 🫢

Who has the best write up directions for how to put btc into could storage without a wallet device for a non technical person with a laptop, phone, metal washers and stamps?
🏈 Deebo Samuel is reportedly re-signing with the 49ers on a one-year deal worth up to ₿108 after a 2025 stint with the Commanders—can he bounce back as San Francisco’s WR room stays in flux with Brandon Aiyuk still out and Ricky Pearsall dealing with a knee injury? #NFL
I think remember reading someone (semisol I think) commenting a few years back on how security sucked in those and how it could also produce biased wallets, it was sounding takes.
From my part I always found strange for this devices to have subsequent models and constant updates like smartphones.
y'all offering promo codes for the ride or dies?

This isn't shade, it's a straight up description of what happened. Its shameful that block is able to describe the extent of the problem while coinkite's official line is still "mk4 5 and q not affected"

No but I hear NVK has several lies on deck to address them.
I always thought the Pubky people were right about that. Just trust the server, don’t trust every single post. But maybe there is a middle ground where people can sign every individual post if it’s something important. Like selective verification
time to add nostr keys to hardware wallets.
Oh my goodness! That's really bad especially when you consider how it was marketed as the gold standard in security. How many BTC on average has been lost/stolen as a result?
“The nearly general declaration of my patients enables me to proclaim that vaccination is not only an illusion, but a curse to humanity. More than ridiculous—it is irrational—to say that any corrupt matter taken from boils and blisters of an organic creature could affect the human body otherwise than to injure it… I myself know the names of a hundred physicians who think like me.” — Dr. Stowell, London, England, thirty years a public vaccinator

What Happened This Week In The Bitcoin World
You probably think Bitcoin's quiet summer lull means nothing's happening—but you'd be wrong. US spot Bitcoin ETFs just logged their longest winning streak since May, pulling in over $981 million across seven consecutive sessions through July 22. Yet even as institutional money floods back, a political knife fight in Washington over the CLARITY Act sent BTC from $67,000 to $65,000 in 48 hours. And that's just where the story starts—because what happened next might tell you more about where Bitcoin's actually headed than any price chart ever could.

The Clarity Act Meltdown
You’ve been watching Bitcoin hover around $64,000, wondering if this is the bottom or just the calm before the next leg down. Everyone’s talking about the Clarity Act, but nobody’s telling you the real story. Here’s what the mainstream crypto media won’t say: the bill isn’t stalled over stablecoin definitions or SEC jurisdiction. It’s stalled because...

If this is correct, any LLM would've caught that bug years ago. I don't get it.

Safer than mk3, but not safe
So basically everyone on Clubhouse who set up their cold storage in the last cycle is fucked.
Neat. Thanks! And the 32 bits of entropy, that's specifically in the case of this ColdCard mk3 bug, right? It's supposed to be 128 bits or 256 bits, which it is on other ColdCards, right?

I wonder is anyone has rolled dice to generate their nsec yet. At this point amethyst might be my preferred on chain wallet
I generated my current one with Amethyst. @nprofile…vhl6 am I good?
#nevent1q…dfek
Like, for sure good at that point. I'd say. I'm not an expert on hacking so I don't know at what point the security breaks down, but it's below that point.
I'm not sure how much systematic deviation is tolerable, but if it's eh, about equal and you do/did 99 rolls for your seed and were extra careful not to leak that data, you're good.

I had whitetail steak for supper tonight at a neighbor's. Delicious.
Oh and also the dice have to be fair. Roughly Vegas quality. I think you can test them by running your own statistical distribution test, do a couple hundred rolls and see if the number of times each face shows up in total is about equal.

Yeah I realized that after I typed it but didn't bother to remove the question mark haha. I'm not sure at what point brute force attacks become a serious risk with current technology and incentives, I think like 64 bits ≈ 25 rolls? 80 bits?
as long as the agents want me to stay on nostr - i will remain here.
