The 1990s seems like a Golden Age because the economy was better, society was more stable, there wasn't all the racial tension, America was a lot whiter, and inflation was mostly low. I did enjoy some of that era but it is long gone and not coming back. I actually think the 2020s might be the best era since then, myself, because it actually feels like history is happening again (even if the happenings are largely bad; "chaos is a ladder", etc). The 2000s-2010s came across as more stagnant because there was an era of ingrained leftism and oligarchy and it felt like it would never change. The 2020s feel revolutionary and exciting, at least that's how I see it - I'm not sure an era in which things are happening can ever be "easy". Even the 1990s had a lot of crises that we kind of pretend didn't happen (currency crises in the EU, economic crises in Latin America and Asia, the collapse of LTCM in America which was a prelude to 2008, etc).
