It is that many of them still fail to take it seriously at all.
Cryptography is not a passing financial fashion. Elliptic curves already sit beneath digital signatures, secure communications, blockchains, identity systems and the machinery of computational trust.
They are part of the mathematical foundation of the modern world.
Yet another generation of young engineers is being trained to chase frameworks, prompts and platform abstractions without understanding the cryptographic primitives beneath them.
They are taught how to build applications on top of systems they cannot independently verify.
That is how a generation of talented young heroes gets blindsided: not through a lack of intelligence, but through leadership that confused institutional fashion with technical reality.
Crypto was never merely about coins.
It was always about who owns the keys, who verifies the claim, who controls the ledger and whether trust can survive without permission from an empire.
Ignore that foundation long enough, and the future will be built by the few who bothered to understand it.
