The modern technology industry has perfected a remarkable business model.
Privatise the profits. Socialise the risks. Externalise the damage. Call it innovation.
Corporations raise billions on promises, automate accountability out of existence, and treat regulatory exposure as a line item.
Meanwhile, the independent programmer spends decades mastering his craft, building systems, solving problems, and absorbing every financial risk personally.
No institutional protection. No golden parachute. No taxpayer-funded rescue. No guaranteed market.
Just a workstation, a lifetime of accumulated knowledge, and an invoice nobody intends to pay.
At what point does his office become a prison?
When competence no longer guarantees opportunity.
When independent innovation becomes financially unsustainable.
When the people building the infrastructure cannot afford to participate in the economy built upon it.
And when the institutions preaching responsibility operate under an entirely different standard of accountability.
The scandal isn't that experienced programmers are frustrated.
The scandal is that an industry claiming to liberate human intelligence has constructed an economy in which independent intelligence can become a financial liability.
A billion-dollar corporation calls its losses investment.
An independent engineer calls the same losses unemployment.
One gets another funding round.
The other gets career advice.
Same economy. Different justice.
And we're supposed to call this progress.

The wildcat "SCUM" flag you see is a communist student association that has been demanding France pay the education of illegal colonizers.
SCUM stands for Syndicat des Communistes Universitaires de Montpelluer, which means Union of University Communists of Montpellier. Of course you see the iconic Russian communist flag (USSR) in the crowd as well.

Electrum is a tragically overloaded term.
It started as a miner protocol
Now it's also a server for lightweight bitcoin wallets that don't want to use the bitcoin protocol or download blocks
It's also a wallet with a shitty UI.
Great, but still buggy :( Clicking on anything other than first tab does nothing.
A lot of other wallets use electrum servers (such as Sparrow), but likely they check the validity of the tx that the electrum server sends back.
I think in the 15 years I’ve been coining I’ve only used it once and deleted it lol… well until I probably dled it on umbrel carp node and never used it…
