I just have not respect for those who complain about the ugly things that it is common to say about men in some segments of our culture, but then have a complete inability to care about the lack of physical safety for women in the world.
It’s totally fair to be upset about the man bashing that happens in the world, I’m with you there. But you need to be divorced from reality to think insults are a more pressing issue than physical safety. And it shows how self centered and emotionally immature a person is when they can’t distinguish between these two things.

I've been in Bitcoin 12 years now, things have changed a lot. What I see now that concerns me are people making their whole lives about Bitcoin. The way they dress, the food they eat, how many kids they have, etc. That is wildly unhealthy.
Someone who is lacking a foundation, someone who doesn't know who they are, that is someone who allows something powerful, like Bitcoin, to completely consume them.
We should not encourage this. It is not healthy.

One of the new features of Taproot Assets v0.4 are trustless on-chain swaps 💱 using Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions (PSBTs).
With this feature users can swap assets for bitcoin or other Taproot Assets allowing non-interactive trade without requiring the trust of their counterparty or a centralized coordinator.
Example: Alice creates a PSBT that sends her Taproot Assets out and sends back to her a BTC amount. She posts that publicly. Bob can then come along whenever he likes, complete that PSBT, and broadcast it to the network effectively buying Alice's Assets in exchange for BTC.

Years ago I had this incredibly interesting dream that I still think about nearly daily.
I was back in a childhood home and with me was a creature that was ancient, it had been walking the earth for thousands of years. It was with me back in this childhood home as it was trying to show me the incredible importance of all of the little decisions I had made in my life, even my choices as a child. It was trying to explain to me the impact that my choice to write in my diary everyday as an adolescent had had on my adult life, etc.
This creature was kinda a snarky asshole and was making some rude remarks. I told it not to do that, I told it to “take it back”. It said “Okay, I’ll take back every snarky thing I’ve ever said” and snapped it’s fingers. The room was changed. The computer was different, the technology had changed. I looked out the window to see that the style of clothes everyone was wearing had changed.
“How did this happen?” I asked, and this creature showed me a thing that you can’t put into words as it had more dimensions than the human mind can visualize. Essential it showed me a ribbon woven through reality that was all of it’s actions. When that ribbon was changed, reality changed.
The point of this dream was a visualization of how incredibly important and impactful all your actions are. ALL of them. And you just have no idea how one thing you say will ripple out into the world. We think of ourselves as so ineffectual, but our actions, even as a child, are massive.

Be careful of the lure of the radical.
Bold people are intensely alluring. Perhaps because aligning with their boldness compensates for moments in our lives when we should have been bolder ourselves, perhaps simply because there is such an energy in it. The radical just radiates intensity. Intoxicating.
When you align with a radical it’s magic. They are your biggest believer, your loudest cheerleader, your defender, your voice.
But the radical isn’t solid, isn’t stable, isn’t ...whole. When they are slighted, or thrown off course, or when their fire for one cause dies, they shift, wildly, on to a new righteous cause.
They aren’t driven by values, or “first principals”, or logic, or even their constantly proclaimed righteousness. They are driven by the holes in their own soul. And the intensity of their own fracturing is the intensity of their pursuit of their cause.
If you dare to have and KEEP values and principals, your time with a radical is limited. The fierceness with which they exalted you will become the fierceness with which they deride you when their cause shifts.
If you keep getting drunk on them, if you keep standing too near them, you will eventually get burned.

This might sound a bit like an appeal to authority, but I don’t think it is. I think it’s good evidence that when you really dig into it, no matter where in the world you are and what moment in history you’re in, the answer is clear, "fulfillment", "wholeness", “happiness”, “self-esteem”, etc can only come from your relationship with yourself, it can never come from being “above” or “dominant” over others or from material possessions.
You can look at nearly all religious practices, Eastern, Western, or other, you can look at philosophy, you can look at psychology and it will all point you to this answer. To sum this up here is one of my favorite quotes from an accomplished Psychologist...

I’m migrating my LND nodes over to litd in integrated mode. This way I’ll be able to run LND with Loop, Pool, Faraday and Tapd seamlessly!
If you’re thinking about doing this, here is my cheat sheet…(for Ubuntu servers)

What people repeatedly joke about reveals their character. They will tell you that it's not true, you will want to believe that it's not true, but it is true. Lo siento. It's a lesson I've learned the hard way more times than I want to admit.
When someone reveals their character in this way generally our instinct is to want to talk them out of walking down a dark path. And if this is someone you care about it is a good idea to discus it with them. But still, almost certainly, you will need to push them out to a more distant spot on those relationship concentric circles. I've been in Bitcoin 12 years now. I've watched the community change and expand dramatically in that time. The past few years have been rather sad as I've watched so many in this community become consumed by the red pill contagion.
So many people in Bitcoin are contrarians or people who refuse to accept the status quo. I get that. I'm one of them. But what I can not accept is the instinct to be contrarian pushing you to lose your values.
I’ve watched “anarchists”, "libertarians" and “voluntarists” become consumed with hate and fall into collectivism. I’ve watched them start to worship dominance and authoritarianism. I’ve watched them adopt the idea that autonomy and agency are gender dependent.
Watching my community lose its values has been nothing short of heart breaking 💔
And through this I've had to learn the very, very important distinction between contrarians and people with real principles.

My husband/business partner informs me that I really suck at self promotion and I should be less humble. So, below is a list of awesome sh*t I’ve done in the Bitcoin world:
I developed and taught “blockchain”(Bitcoin 🤫) courses for the University of Illinois at Chicago teaching both undergrad and MBA students.
During my time working on Andreas Antonopoulos’ team I compiled the Bitcoin for Developers course for Saylor Academy which is free and has now been taken by thousands of students!
I organized the Bitcoin and Open Blockchain meetup in Chicago for 5 years. We put together some pretty big events!
In 2014 I founded Velas Commerce and over the years we’ve built Bitcoin and/or Lightning integrations for a wide variety of businesses from small Mom and Pop shops to large payment processors. If you buy something in a shop in Central America using Lightning, you might be using systems we built.
I’ve created a ridiculous amount of educational material speaking at all kinds of conferences, running a variety of workshops, producing dozens of tutorial videos, etc, etc.
And now of course I’m organizing a BitDevs here in San Juan and working at Lightning Labs… and really, how can you top that? 😝

I’ve been reading SO much on Psychology, complex trauma, the nervous system, polyvagal theory, etc, etc, and me makes me think about the poor Red Pilled dudes. You see, I think most of them have these issues, and to compound the problem they’ve now got this idea that the concept of trauma doesn’t apply to men, they think men don’t need deep and meaningful connection, they suppress their feelings with their devotion to Stoicism, they find vulnerability to be shameful, and mock those who seek the help of mental health professionals.
And this is probably in large part due to their complex trauma, I know as I’ve had similar beliefs in the past. It’s that trauma that makes you believe that you can’t and shouldn’t ever rely on anyone else, that makes you find your emotions to be unhelpful, that fills you with shame.
I used to, and still do, worry about the women in these men's’ lives, but now, even more so, I worry about them. I have a few friends who have gotten caught up in this and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to hear about them putting a bullet through their head. In their current state I know they would do that long before they would reach out for help 😢

I think it’s a perfect track record, every time I’ve set out to build some grand vision in the Bitcoin world I’ve realized that all the pieces are not yet in place, and instead I’ve ended up building the rungs on the ladder required to get there.
So, know what you’re good at and find the next rung on the ladder to build.

I don’t have a problem with Ordinals, BRC20, etc, I'm just not a fan.
If we actually believe in permissionless innovation, and I do, then we don’t get to tell other people what to build with Bitcoin. And I see no moral issues with these protocols, I just find them to be short term ideas.

Don’t get me wrong here, I am motivated to be impactful, I very much enjoy professional respect when it comes my way, and having enough money to be comfortable and to travel is amazing and I highly recommend it.
But after that, it’s rapidly diminishing returns.

I’m really not very motivated by money or status, and that’s a bit unusual in the crowds that I often find myself in… like here, on social media.
You do you, but I gotta tell you, I think my way is better.
I sit and watch the status chasers try to talk to the right people, and watch the money chasers try to buy the right shitcoin at the right time, and it all just looks so exhausting.
You sacrifice parts of yourself whenever you give your time to people you don’t actually like, whenever you spend all night researching things that you don’t actually care about.

O excuse me, I went to Dubai the other day and forgot to brag about it on social media 😛
What was fun about the city was how very international it was. I’m told only about 20% of the residents are from the Emirates.

We’ve finished up the tapd demo series! But here is some bonus content on metadata.
We weren’t able to fit in a metadata demo video in this round, but below are the basics of working with metadata with Taproot Assets.
First we need to note that there are many types and ways to add metadata to assets, below is the simplest.

Let’s start with the CLI. You can add metadata to an asset mint with the flag --meta_bytes
The data that you add after that flag with be encoded as hex and added to the mint. The data you add there may already be hex which means you may have to decode it twice when retrieving it.
To do that, try this command…
$ tapcli assets meta --asset_id [asset ID]
You should be able to find your metadata in the “data” value that is returned. You can then use a command similar to the below to convert that data from hex back to the original value on the command line. You’ll want to run the command once or twice depending on how you added the data.
$ echo [“data” value] | xxd -r -p && echo ''
$ echo [Output from last command] | xxd -r -p && echo ''
If you are working with tapd via the API, we’ve got some examples for you!

What a rare treat it is to find people who both have and hold their principals. The past ~4 years have been fear ridden, and I’ve watched waves and waves of people in communities that I’ve been a part of throw their values right under the bus.
It’s been tragic but enlightening. I have a much better understanding of human history now.
