covid update: I’ve slept probably a combined 18-20 hours hours over the last day, finally built up the courage to shower.
earlier my temp was 103, but I took Tylenol and ibuprofen. Also took allergy meds 😝
symptoms in the past day: sore throat, mild cough, fever, rash (little red bumps on arms & legs, not quite hives). also the worst headache in the entire world (but at least not a migraine). nausea for a bit, but I think that was more dehydration. nostr.relay.moizen.xyz

Quite a lot of the TV series KAOS was filmed near me in Andalucia. Sevilla (Military Historical Museum) and Málaga areas primarily but also in one of my favourite hiking destinations, the Tavernas desert badlands of Almeria. The "Cave" nightclub in the series is in fact the old restaurant by the Tavernas exit of the A92 motorway turnoff. This place has also been used to film the "Black Museum" episode of the Black Mirror TV series. nostr.relay.moizen.xyz

Bit warm to be walking below 2000 meters but the cool breeze and forest foliage helped. Today we did a walk in the Sierra de Huetor, combining the Cañada del Senero with an off piste ascent of Cerro del Corza 1606m.
My first visit to Cerro del Corza. It's a wonderful viewpoint for not only the Sierra Nevada, but also the Majaliar and Peñon de la Mata peaks.

most of this is because my AMD hardware is nice for games but everything else on windows sucks balls
meanwhile, everything on linux sucks balls on AMD Radeon
i just need my work done and when i'm done working i want to chill, so i got all htat lined up now, and probably i'll set that thing to sleep when it's not in use

broadcom bought out vmware... good luck figuring out how to get vmware workstation anymore
virtualbox is the same garbage it was 5 years ago, and sucks, doesn't handle multiple displays
qemu is probably the most advanced now, which is hilarious, i mean, with IOMMU i was literally partitioning my gaming laptop's video between two VMs, and the discrete video ran faster than it did in hybrid mode
the entire shebang is a fucking shitshow these days
bad incentives lead to bad software architecture leads to shitty experiences all around
windows for games only... it's the only thing it does right now, this WSL stuff was all well and good, but the integration with native IDEs is pretty piss poor, and intellij is the best, and it's still annoying as fuck

As an analytical person and former psychologist, I’ve always been fascinated by studying human behavior—especially in the digital age. The idea of sharing one’s life online is an entirely new phenomenon, unique to this century.
While reading “Hatching Twitter” (though I’m not convinced we’re getting the real version of that story), one of the early chapters mentions that no one would feel comfortable sharing their life online. Today, that thought seems almost bizarre when you consider how nearly everyone is doing just that. However, I’m left questioning how beneficial this has been for humanity as a whole.
I find myself comparing this to the invention of electricity, which fills me with awe and a sense of advancement. But when it comes to the tech revolution and its effects on the human mind, I have my doubts. The original intention of social media was to make people feel more connected and less alone, but paradoxically, it feels like people are more isolated than ever before.
Last year, I took a significant step back from social media. I shut down my online business, deleted all social media apps from my phone, and @npub1dtg…up6m can vouch for this—each time he showed me something from one of those apps, I felt disgusted with what the world had become. During that time, I felt truly free, as if I had finally taken off a mask. However, I also noticed an odd side effect: I felt disconnected from the world. I wasn’t updated on what my friends were doing, and I missed that sense of social interaction, even if it was superficial.
One of the most intriguing aspects of social media is how followers, likes, and engagement seem to dictate people’s sense of worth and relationships. People can become genuinely offended if someone they know unfollows them, to the point where they may not want to maintain an in-person relationship anymore. It’s as if the virtual world is dictating real-life connections: “Oh, you unfollowed me? I guess we can’t be friends in real life.” It’s a strange, almost absurd shift in human interaction.
Another bizarre aspect of social media is the idea that people who don’t resonate with you—or even dislike you—can still follow your life closely. They can see what you think, feel, and do daily. Ex-lovers and people from your past are just one click away from finding out what you’re up to nowadays. This level of access to personal information still feels surreal to me. How much information we handle and share without second thoughts is, frankly, unsettling.
In the end, while social media has undoubtedly changed the way we connect, it raises the question: has it truly improved our lives, or are we more isolated, less authentic, and increasingly detached from genuine human connection?

I completely agree that it's astonishing how much people share about their personal lives online. I've noticed that whenever I take a break from social media, it's as if I've fallen off the face of the earth, friends seem to forget about me altogether. I also feel the same way when I don't participate, it's like I'm being left out. It's like you can only be friends now if you're actual friends online. Digital friendship has almost overtaken personal, real friendship, and now I can understand why everyone feels so lonely. Before, if you wanted to see how a friend was doing, you would have to go see them or call them. Now people can feel like they know what's going on with you with zero interaction because they can see your posts. I post less now, but there was a time when I posted a lot. I've deleted everything basically now, besides X and Nostr. It was eye-opening when I would talk to someone who I hadn't talked to in a long time and they could bring up so much stuff about me that we never personally spoke about to them.
Also, it's becoming increasingly dangerous to post too much identifiable information. A lot of attacks and robberies are being planned based on information someone posts on their social media.
It's crazy how people tie their self-worth to online validation, likes, comments, and followers have become the ultimate measure of popularity. This creates a lot of anxiety and stress associated to social media use. Even on Instagram, people are ditching traditional posts for stories, likely because there is less pressure to get likes and comments.
Social media has changed a lot. It's definitely ingrained into society now. One of the biggest dangers is that the algorithm has the ability to shape minds all over the world. They can make you perceive whatever they want. Social media I think, can be a good or bad thing based on how you use it. You can scroll your feed chronologically on X, think for yourself, or fall into the "For You" page and be told how to think. The danger is that they are all run by big corporations that have done everything they can to make it as addictive as possible, so it's actually become a net negative for most people. They are also not in the business of making you happier or smarter, so they will push whatever governments or corporations tell them to. Maybe Nostr fixes this.

As an analytical person and former psychologist, I’ve always been fascinated by studying human behavior—especially in the digital age. The idea of sharing one’s life online is an entirely new phenomenon, unique to this century.
While reading “Hatching Twitter” (though I’m not convinced we’re getting the real version of that story), one of the early chapters mentions that no one would feel comfortable sharing their life online. Today, that thought seems almost bizarre when you consider how nearly everyone is doing just that. However, I’m left questioning how beneficial this has been for humanity as a whole.
I find myself comparing this to the invention of electricity, which fills me with awe and a sense of advancement. But when it comes to the tech revolution and its effects on the human mind, I have my doubts. The original intention of social media was to make people feel more connected and less alone, but paradoxically, it feels like people are more isolated than ever before.
Last year, I took a significant step back from social media. I shut down my online business, deleted all social media apps from my phone, and @npub1dtg…up6m can vouch for this—each time he showed me something from one of those apps, I felt disgusted with what the world had become. During that time, I felt truly free, as if I had finally taken off a mask. However, I also noticed an odd side effect: I felt disconnected from the world. I wasn’t updated on what my friends were doing, and I missed that sense of social interaction, even if it was superficial.
One of the most intriguing aspects of social media is how followers, likes, and engagement seem to dictate people’s sense of worth and relationships. People can become genuinely offended if someone they know unfollows them, to the point where they may not want to maintain an in-person relationship anymore. It’s as if the virtual world is dictating real-life connections: “Oh, you unfollowed me? I guess we can’t be friends in real life.” It’s a strange, almost absurd shift in human interaction.
Another bizarre aspect of social media is the idea that people who don’t resonate with you—or even dislike you—can still follow your life closely. They can see what you think, feel, and do daily. Ex-lovers and people from your past are just one click away from finding out what you’re up to nowadays. This level of access to personal information still feels surreal to me. How much information we handle and share without second thoughts is, frankly, unsettling.
In the end, while social media has undoubtedly changed the way we connect, it raises the question: has it truly improved our lives, or are we more isolated, less authentic, and increasingly detached from genuine human connection?

Yea the church I attend is building a new campus in a new part of town and they accept crypto as an option for donation.
Problem is, I can also guarantee you it will be immediately converted to fiat or a stable coin because they don’t want the “risk” (volatility really)
Which to our convo about accepting crypto or even adopting a decentralized social platform…many leaders of non-profits are risk (volatility) adverse in their #leadership
So adopting innovation no matter what domain it resides in, is about as low of the list of things to do as it can be

Most charities are stuck “local” in their thoughts and actions.
There are very few (probably less than 100-ish maybe less than 25) that do a good job with story telling to the masses (aka social media).
If they aren’t doing it well on services that require little effort to get going (ie centralized social media)…they are going to struggle that much more when it comes to decentralized services because it’s outside the way most of them are wired (programmed) to think!

now that i know that cloud formation requires electrons (to negatively charge dust) i'm of the opinion that the pyramid still concentrates some kind of electromagnetic energy
i was told by several people that the mountain is famous for its crazy sudden weather changes and frequent heavy cloud cover right at the top

Yes, this was larping, however it was a good call to re inhabit the muleteer paths, to go walk and climb in a sport basis. Now in the picture the mountains you see are actually mountains. The one I was set foot onto it is rather a more geometrical shape-like 'kind of mountain'. One thing is sure; this place as you can see in the other pictures I just post, has an strategic view, tactical. Some researchers say this place also worked as a garrison and surveillance spot.
I have the hypothesis the graphics of "timelines" that we see at elemetary and high school have to re check their times. Some of these things are surely man made and that takes many much more years apart. no, in theory wot relays, wot clients, lightning network.. thats what all my 'game theory' ideas keep coming back to as a solution. but i think im about a year ahead of everyone from running these relays and seeing all the spam all the time. you dont follow that many people so you may not see the endless misery of the users that it's not fixed for, gave up, etc.

Which client are you referring to?

That aside, trusting a person (Elon in your example) vs trusting a client (I assume you something like Damus or Primal)
Those are completely different for a few reasons
A. One is a person, the other is a piece of software (albeit written by “people”)
B. Nostr is a protocol much like http or pop3…the clients are just the UI to make accessing the protocol more user friendly
C. You (ie anyone) can make a client for Nostr…so you not trust yourself?
D. Using the logic you’ve laid forth, Bitcoin also would not be considered sovereign because it requires nodes to be in operation to progress the chain of blocks …much like Nostr requires relays
(and yes I’m aware that someone has solved a block or hash or something like that on a piece of paper…that’s an Outlier scenario)

Nostr is a trust-based, permission-based system. Their is nothing sovereign about requiring the permission of others to use their client. It may seem for the moment as if it's different, but it’s not.
