and i ate bread a lot in my time in prison and instead of a rash i got severe allergic asthma, so bad i couldn't sleep... caffeine reduced it and ventolin reduced it and this obscure antihistamine chlorpyramine reduced it... i struggled for like 5 years with using ventolin on it, because the ventolin stops working in the long term after about 2 weeks, it actually releives it for a few hours and then it's back even worse

just eating bananas and potato chips is making that mostly go away, but in a weird way, but i feel a lot better, brain working better

fortunately i have figured out that since i have got plenty of calcium and sodium and probably magnesium, it must be potassium that is the hole in my system
so i've got some potassium bitartrate - the only potassium salt i could find at my local supermarket- and it's now mixed into my sea salt mix along with a little sodium borate, because i have also learned and proven from testing that when magnesium and calcium levels are low it can be due to inadequate boron, and boron's mostly found in food, and some fish, the salt itself has a "fishy" taste
probably will add some other things to the mix as well but i feel very confident that using potassium bitartrate as a small part of my salt mix will help
ah yeah, i want to add a little magnesium sulfate to the mix as well... it's mostly raw grey sea salt, but with a little potassium bitartrate, and sodium borate and a little MgSO4, not only will my salt be super tasty, i will not have this deficiency problem
with the kidney and salts, if you increase salts, you can always increase water to some extent, and it acts to stimulate the kidneys to flush out other salts that are not useful or are built up in toxic levels, like bromides and fluorides
it is sorta making me think that maybe an electrolyte mix product might actually both be helpful and maybe sell ok if i were to put it together and market it
just to figure out optimal ratios
it doesn't have to be exact, but you have to be careful
i know from horticulture that if you have too much of some minerals it can cause deficiencies in others, like, i forget, i think iron and calcium are two antagonistic minerals
you don't really need to worry about calcium so much, it's usually limited by magnesium, but i think if you have too much calcium and magnesium it can inhibit your absorption of iron, which can negatively impact your respiration
so, yeah, my approach is cautious, a bit more potassium and boron are the main things i'm adding right now
i got such a good feeling about it right away, i'm gonna keep poking at this one

haha yeah... i refused to use modules for a whole year, they were buggy af lol
now, idk how we'd survive without it but i'm not sure they did it quite perfect, i still keep a GOPATH as a convenient way to organise all my repos
but it works!
there's some glitches here and there with dependencies sometimes though... the btcd and lnd repos notably are a shitfight of dependencies literally back to different versions of the same fucking repo, it's madness

expensive compilation, same problem as OOP, which doesn't exist with imperative style structural typed, interface and simplified template generics
my compilation is done in under 3 seconds almost every time, idk how anyone can experience go compilation and wonder at why they put up with thees other languages compile times
i've seen C++ compilations blow right over top of my memory several times in the past, memory use, sheer time...
i mean, building our esteemed @nprofile…vnvj 's gossip client takes at least 5 minutes, i know it's a fairly sophisticated app but that is still over the top in my book

yeah, performance optimization is the big cost with funcitonal languages, be it tail recursion or unfolding recursive stuff... recursion is very popular with functional languages but it has its own particular problems, i feel like the Go Authors have declined to add tail recursion to the language because the same logic is more efficiently expressed with for and switch and using concurrent channels and coroutines

i just discovered a new thing that is newer than dgraph.io badger key/value store

the wisckey paper made a design change to log structured merge-tree database designs (like rocksdb and leveldb and all their related forks) by separating the key and value data structures, the reason being that updating the keys all the time when only the values were changing creates a feedback effect called "write amplification" and by splitting the tables, the iterations become faster and the compaction of the value log becomes cheaper
the feature list is pretty self explanatory why it might be a better option (and badger really is a lot better, but i feel like with age it's got crufty):
- Maintains an in-memory B+ tree to store record file IDs and offsets, enabling fast queries and range queries.- Supports sequential and append writes similar to LevelDB to ensure high performance for bulk data writes.- Implements a write-ahead log to ensure data durability.- Uses a multi-level memtable based on Skiplist to guarantee O(log N) query performance.- Implements a single-level SSTable and uses selective compaction to manage garbage collection.
i'm quite used to using badger now, and i understand enough about how it works to see that this might be substantially better, being that it is another, recently updated and ongoing maintained project
i'm just gonna see if i like the API anyhows, before i decide i'm not a badger maxi anymore

well, it's not just the heat damage but also directing the radiative heat where you are actually needing it, instead of it percolating outside
i never used to understand the use of plain aluminium for reflecting heat before but recent years i have seen it used to remarkable effect
reflection and absorption are the two things you want with heating fixtures... if you can absorb it and have it re-radiate, that's actually the ideal, but if it must be lightweight, reflection is adequate second best

yeah, they sound remarkably similar to interfaces
i like a lot of functional models but i think they don't cover you for actually that much... very nice for this kind of thing, but not so good for saving time and bugfixing on writing operations on mostly similar data types such as codecs
IMO, understanding how to write efficient codecs is a good thing for understanding how useful your programming language is, and i put an emphasis on efficient... inefficient, naive implementations are not difficult and easy to make bug-free but making them efficient often is a bit of voodoo haha

yes, fasting is great stuff, but i think from my experience of it so far, it is about resetting systems and finding a better order, not a thing in itself
like, i did 3 days no caffeine, and now i can just do one in the morning and that's enough... i think dialing down to 1 is more practical than total abstinence
you have to maintain performance continuity in your work, and these extreme practices tend to disrupt your rhythm utterly
start by managing a whole day of no food, only fluids, you'll get to longer durations... at 3 days ketosis starts up, which has a very good effect on your organs and metabolism, everything starts eating itself and that helps clean out the stuff that was broken
with me, that's all been great, but the biggest problem i have that is very central is electrolytes, and essentially, the most pervasive, and inhibitory health problem i have right now, and it seems to simply be potassium deficiency
don't get confused by thinking that something that has a specific use is some kind of ideal... fasting is very useful, and i think at least 3 day fasts are a baseline you should try to get to, but start with one day fasts first
i personally used to do one day fasts because of depression, for years... probably helped my health a lot... but not that problem

go programmers and people willing to work as go programmers are scarce enough that i can find work if i need to, anywhere now... i hate them all but the endless marketing campaigns for javascript ninjas and rustaceans means they might have more trouble finding a job than me, where Google doesn't bother pimping their best asset so not so many know the language well and certainly not at 8 years of experience like me i first started digging into it in 2016)
code is hard enough to understand as it is but all these trendy languages use notations and idioms that increase its opacity by orders of magnitude, for no reason...
when i was in highschool, there was always a group, usually large and very social, of nerds who were all cryptomaniacs and cool kids in their own little club
that was not me, i didn't see the point in working to win points with these dickheads, but they all went off to pervert the course of computer programming, and i'm sure there is tens of millions of these cryptomaniac social climbers
