I think about aliens a lot. If we ever met, and they were friendly, I'd want to know more about their economy. Is it entirely post-scarcity, or are some things still scarce? I'd want to know what lessons they've learned and what works well for them. And of course, I'd want to help find our place in the galactic economy, if that exists.
Also, not gonna lie, if it turns out their system works a lot like Bitcoin does, I wouldn't be surprised. https://image.nostr.build/36c2ccf3668949fbef097cc7d81e771fb7fb53c79ab594b3c16636748db3567e.jpg

Ayn Rand should in theory be loved by the left. She wrote about a female heroine. Science & rationality are primary values. All of her bad guys are basically greedy rich people who make their money by enslaving & taking advantage of others, and her good guys were willing to give up wealth, destroy their businesses, build their own community, & live as basic day laborers in order to defeat the rich parasites.
But her heroes were fighting people possessed by a desire for unearned status & rewards. They were fighting socialism. She exposes what lurks in the shadows of the altruistic mind, convinced of its own moral superiority, & repeatedly drives a dagger through the heart of the fraud & emotional manipulation required to spread & maintain socialism. So the left responds to her like a demon to a cross.

People are afraid to eat red meat, fish, oysters, eggs, butter, salt and raw dairy, but have no problem guzzling down loads of alcohol or soda and eating piles of chips, candy, ice cream, crackers, and fries.
Make it make sense.

Yes. That is what I meant by the variety of inputs on the nwc option, as it said that mutiny will be supported soon. Yes nwc was alby's contribution, getcurrent had hicups before, still does, loads better now but nwc is up/down at least with amethyst and does not always load. What I want to see really is the mobile self-custodial wallets support for the nwc and then we are talking, mutiny is already there, blixt, zeus can do it eventually, depending their focus 🤙

Hey @npub1xpu…5ams . Great job. I actually did not slept on yana like I did with nostrmo. I tried it some time ago, even before Zitron did the design, awesome job btw. I tried the web back then and it did not load for me on mobile, it still does not. But the android app is good and a keeper. Loads the notes from the little mobile test relay nicely although the global thinks a sec or two and sometimes does not load properly on good wifi so doubt its the net. The wallet connect is so so, as alby still trots with the mobile, maybe when you get to the mobile variety there will check again. Great options on the notes which what I liked with nostrmo as well and the notes scheduling 🤙

Happy thanksgiving
Terms of Service:
You will eat and be thankful. Gifting your company and crafts.
You will be loud and rowdy. Unearthing years old disagreements over minutiae while inflated puppet parades adorn the television screen in the living room.
You'll reminisce about those not there this year, through other plans or no longer with us.
You will listen to that borderline personality pschizophrenic relative for a duration with stoicism before consuming enough alcohol to make a joke which will be taken out of context
A majority will be laughing, one crying and several consoling hurt egos.
Inlaws will poke at your lifestyles, those low tolerances will be unmasked.
Whatever your Thanksgiving plans, I hope they treat you well and everyone, through all the chaos, somehow manages to make it known that what really matters is the effort put on to all make it seem like everything somehow worked out just as planned.
If even for a moment.
I'd attach an invoice and DM but TOS are stupid.

The Bitcoin and nostr communities gave me a life mission. I want to use my vast Bitcoin wealth (lol) to start a school for the arts and sciences, practical and experimental.
Young adults need better education about tech, money, history and culture than we were given in our programming for jobs that no longer exist.
Also, this school will be my functioning wizard tower, and I'll finally have time for that relay that started me off on all this. 😂
That's the life I didn't know I wanted so much. And I think I can do it.

Yeah, there's a reason I don't have existing experience with it. I have been avoiding taking a loan on my stack like the plague.
I am currently in a bind though. I don't have other assets that could be used for this amount that I have any equity in at this time, and I don't have cash sitting around to pay for it out of pocket.
My current options are:
1. Sell my Bitcoin to pay for it.
2. Borrow against my Bitcoin to pay for it.
Which of those bad options is the better route? If I sell, I risk having to buy back at a much higher price. If I borrow and the price drops, I risk having to pay it off faster, or put up more of my stack as collateral. Neither option is appetizing, but given where we are in the cycle, I am far more worried about option 1 than option 2 at present.

If large company like say, Apple released an easy to use for the layman Bitcoin node interface, and it caught on, wouldn't that be a difficulty in the long haul to decentralization of the ruleset? If the majority of people just upgrade to whatever new version is out, without paying attention?
Granted I know individuals can run any version they want, but if it's marketed to individuals as a way to run their own node, if they aren't paying attention to the changes being made, or just too excited about making sure their code is "up to date"...
More in the curve of adoption where the majority is still confused to how it even works, and a naive portion of that uses an apparent plug and play variant of a node. I see it leading to more social confusion and potential future forks rather than an actual threat vector.
Again, long haul not too concerning to the protocol to me, but in terms of corporate interest and their reach to distribute hardware if they are so inclined to focus on such a thing.

Magic is real & wonderful, but it's not unexplainable things that violate the laws of reality. Magic is in all the seemingly impossible things that people working together make possible.
Something as simple as a number 2 pencil can't be made by a single human being, but it can be made by many humans working together, & made in such a great abundance that they are nearly free. The key to making magic possible is economic coordination. Given what people have made with weak money, while heavily burdened by taxes & regulations, imagine what sort of a world #Bitcoin will allow people to create 😊

The person who believes the earth was literally created in 7 days, & this guy who thinks Christianity is undone by proving it wasn't, are both reading the Bible with a child's level of analysis (which unfortunately seems like it might be the norm). IMO both are horribly wrong.
It's an extremely complex piece of literature (made more so by many edits & translations). It is assembled from many different authors & encompasses many different writing styles. It is full of poetry, metaphors, symbolism, & parables.
Reading it as though it is some sort of perfect & literal record of history turns it into a cartoon that is mostly devoid of meaning. Reading it that way & then calling it a meaningless cartoon is like sitting in your car seat & pointing out that your little brother with the pretend steering wheel isn't really driving.

I've got one friend who now "preferred" me pay him with bitcoin for some... Flowers... And another I've been gradually talking about it to over time, who is starting to see it, as I play around here and there sending gfy messages to both their lightning wallets. Both I've helped set up on chain keys.
At times I get a little too complex, but between their questions and me trying to find a succinct way to explain it, or having to further my comprehension of it to do so... So much time I've spent in conversation with just those two over the last year. Only because of their genuine curiosity.
And trying not to give them bad advice, explaining where I see my own need for improvements, but trying to go their pace without overwhelming them, just trying to wrap my head around the ever evolving "best practices".
As I try and convey as much indifference to the price as I can, while tempering their excitements when it does do the fun things.
Unfortunately one is my cousin. And the two of us at Thanksgiving might be insufferable.
I don't know where I'm going with this. But I also don't know where I'm going with an npub. Probably no where.
Sorry for the rant.

Of course there are dangerous men out there. As there are dangerous women too. The attention is all on male toxicity because its easier to detect (physical violence) than “female” violence (psychological/emotional). That doesn’t mean is less prevalent or is less harmful. My problem is with the western retoric that all world problems are men fault and that women are the solution. It creates a social bias towards feminine toxicity and, in fact, our “feminized”, or better said, “emasculated” world nowadays is waaaay more disfunctional and unjust than it was before this anti-male mania started circa 20 years ago. The point you make about mental health issues is valid for both sexes too. I can make examples if you want. And also I want to make very clear that I am far from being sexist or “anti female”… in fact I am so much for equality that I believe in an equal division of guilt between sexes 😊I know Lyn’s point had less to do with this, and more with learning to defend yourself. I am 100% with her on this. I am just pointing out the wording she used, that is also the wording most people nowadays uses. In any case I am glad a sort of discussion is starting from my answer. Thanks for engaging!

If the, basically, clinically brain dead can supposedly "run" a country and it continues down whatever narrative is being fabricated... You'd think you'd realize that the president doesn't do much aside from being the punching bag people can point at in a line up of equally ghoulish career politicians when things seem to continue to destabilize. If only I'd voted harder with more passion perhaps it could be different.
Not systemic failure, lobbying constituents, backroom deals and monetary interest greasing a much larger conflicted machine, keeping the citizens in check at an increasingly dystopian, anti human world being built. In contrary framings of your safety and wars of attritian. All the while needing more and more of your funding to keep operational, as you are informed you are legally allowed to do less over time. Surveillance states to make sure the populace operate within a stringent and increasingly limiting set of factors. "For the greater good".
Even when your supposedly beholden to their currency, a weapon wielded over those without, through tariff and debasement, with no way to alter the exploitation of such a system by those who temporarily (usually far too long in career politicians) have influence. The closest control you have over such is hope and a vote that someone responsible enough will do the "right thing". Chasing a carrot on a stick that appears ever elusive in a consumer society. At least you had the opportunity to vote on how badly you'd like to be fucked... at least it was in your power to choose I suppose.
I'm more of a stoop kid. At my doorstep waiting to be made an example of.
Rule based value abstracted magic internet money with a hard supply cap bound to energy expenditure, removed from human control through cryptography, math and decentralization makes more sense to me than anything I just tried and failed to contextualize in my sleep deprived, fiat mined short bus brain.
I want less, more focused things. Not a rat race for materialism.
Gfy.

From the website “Unfortunately, what is right doesn’t always prevail. As much as I wish circumstances were different, the stress and expense of this fight – coupled with the existing stress and expense of operating Omegle, and fighting its misuse – are simply too much. Operating Omegle is no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically. Frankly, I don’t want to have a heart attack in my 30s.
The battle for Omegle has been lost, but the war against the Internet rages on. Virtually every online communication service has been subject to the same kinds of attack as Omegle; and while some of them are much larger companies with much greater resources, they all have their breaking point somewhere. I worry that, unless the tide turns soon, the Internet I fell in love with may cease to exist, and in its place, we will have something closer to a souped-up version of TV – focused largely on passive consumption, with much less opportunity for active participation and genuine human connection.”

Inflation is theft or slavery, just like any form of taxation, but the average employer is losing just the same as the average employee. Requiring employers to match pay to some rate of inflation (measured by who?) still won't fix the problem.
It's also not unreasonable to suspect that wages might fall over time in a sound monetary environment, because increased production means falling prices will produce more buying power for the same money. And the sort of people who do the same work for years on end with little improvement won't be productive enough to make up for the appreciation in the value of their nominal pay. With tech advancement largely still outpacing inflation, it's not unreasonable to see pay for some jobs not keeping up with inflation. No one is entitled to any rate of pay. You always get whatever economically sustainable rate you can manage to negotiate for in any environment.
At the end of the day, wages are prices, prices fluctuate based on supply & demand. If the govt destroys businesses then there is less demand for employees. If the govt controls businesses & only allows large corporations to exist then employees have to compete for positions at a limited number of businesses. If the govt says you have to pay people a minimum amount then lots of entry level jobs get wiped out & the number of jobs available to those who need them most will be even fewer, while the number who need jobs will grow.

So, even in the event of no block reward, and a catastrophe large enough to wipe most communication and electricity out and modern civilization, anyone left, likely prepared, with access and connection anywhere on earth would still be incentivized to run Bitcoin just as the last remaining and potentially most significant decentralized communication network ever devised just to send messages inside of transactions?
And by then the difficulty adjustment would make it much easier to mine again so I suppose anyone would be able to participate with minimal hardware again. Talk about all signal no noise.
Nostr would likely still be as well, but I imagine that would initially be more localized relays instead of a few singular, yet globally distributed larger relays... which is possible as well given the hopefully distant nature of the whole idea. 🤔 I haven't given this as much thought.
It's like building a pyramid in cyberspace.
Although by then it could also just be a refrigerator AI running constant #penisbutter memes and bloating the blockchain still...
They can't make AI shitcoiners can they?
Maybe I should get some sleep.
