In a sense, it's a server, in another sense, it's more like a client. It talks to you over the relays (which are the servers).

What does cordn have that white noise doesn't? Well, it has multi-device synchronization. It has the capability to function over 'normal' relays with no 1MB events requirements. It has large event pagination and has no limit on group size. It has the effective delivery of MLS leaves to their proper positions and works well. It is decentralized just like nostr is.

Every MLS member must apply the same "Commits" in the same order to keep the same keys, so the coordinator gives each group a fixed message order.
It only stores and passes on sealed MLS bytes; it never holds any group keys.
Cordn is 100% decentralized.
Every chat room in cordn has it's own coordinator, every coordinator has it's own set of relays you can contact it on. I have 4 different coordinators, across 17 chats.
Some with more than 40 members, others with less, some with bots doing their own things. I run my own coordinator and I use other's coordinators. I can invite anyone in any of these chat rooms between any of these other chatrooms on any coordinators. I can even automate this with welcome agents, or etc.
In a way, this is "Highly Available" MLS, and to completely put the nail in the coffin of the fud you are spreading here, eventually the UI will make it even easier to switch between different coordinators if they are offline or moved.

I'll disagree. "Always" is mandating, and you can't have that unless there's some entity in control of the protocol.
Through free association, you still can get massive interoperability, but just in clusters. Work with the tech that suits your needs, with developers you care, on relays that implement them.
If you're developing for the limit case of maximal openness, expect resistance against everything you do, including others using the technology you authored - relays will accept json in kind1 content and no one is stopping anyone from making a short note client based on kind2.
Is it smart to do so? Probably not, but if someone with enough popularity and money wants to make a nostr client to do so, they could. Being interoperable with that means switching to their standard to get their network effects. But you're also free to not do so, because it's an open protocol.
Does your relay still cost 21 sats lifetime? I signed in with a different npub and it says 21 sats per month.
Does This have more features than citrine? I've been using that for ages to keep a back up of my notes but if this is better I'll make the switch.
