I understand what you’re saying and I think the problem really is the size and scope of the federal government.
You can observe that a New York democrat is actually different than a Kentucky democrat, especially on the local level.
I feel the problem is partially because we focus on a body of government to represent 320 million people in a single party ideology.
State, county, and city politics are different even though you will have some overlap and some of the concession voting.
I could be wrong in some aspects though I maintain that if you look more locally it’s a little less party line.

They used to be used more widely for jobs too. Never understood the jobs that didn’t require access to sensitive data required stellar (the justification that bad credit people will do bad things to get out of debt). How are things in the U.K. today? It's been a few years since I've visited.
Reflecting on my journey in bitcoin over the last 4 years.
We were made to be courageous.
When Satoshi said the problem with our society is all the trust that is needed to make it work, I think he meant all the dependence.
As children we are dependent on our parents and others to take care of us. But as we mature we are supposed to gain independence and sovereignty, but that has been lacking in our culture, it was certainly lacking in me.
In 2019 I divorced, and was going through a phase of shedding off all the things that I had been using as a crutch to avoid doing myself. It was in the frame of mind I found Bitcoin. All other interactions with it prior to being in this mindset produced no results. I had to renew my mind first.
Moving past my first halving I think about what my goals are in this epoch. As I'm able to recover the time I've lost to fiat I will spend as much of that time with my kids (whom I've only been about to see about once every three months), and dedicate myself more fully to teaching courage, independence, and sovereignty in all things, but certainly in money, time, and speech.
I will be forever grateful to Satoshi and all the plebs on nostr and in life that have helped me stay focused in my mission.

I have fundamental disagreements with Shinobi’s article which I want to air on an important topic - #Bitcoiner as an identity.
Firstly I do agree with Guy that he frames the article quite well with his analogy of schisms in Christianity reflecting dogma inside Bitcoin. Shinobi is a good writer, there is a reason people pay attention to and read his work.
My gripe is Shinobi has completely missed the actual culture war going on due to the bubble he is in and he’s tried to move the Overton Window into a frame which is absolute nonsense and should and will be rejected.
JPEGers are not some Protestant faction who threaten to form an entirely new vision for Bitcoin. They are a tiny tiny minority with whom he happens to be friendly with some of the leaders.
To extend his analogy, they’re more akin to a well-funded cult in a tiny compound with a big Broadcast antenna who have a completely radical interpretation of the established “religious texts” and the overall vision that existing adherents follow that just benefit the few cult leaders (grifters - personal profit being a common motivation for running a cult) and he is exaggerating their potential influence.
They have basically no pull, only people who think they can benefit from the cult are joining, none are stumbling in unknowingly because they believe in this “vision” as happens with successful cults - what fucking vision? There is none. There is a made up structure of Sats ordering on top of Bitcoin and data in OP_RETURN codes but they need everyone to agree to this illusion for their cult to work, however 99% do not.
He seems to infer (not necessarily in this article but this is what I’ve gathered listening/following his content) some people who have “large” social media follower counts makes them a force to reckon with within Bitcoin because they’re getting some VC money and trying to do things that are overall new within the Bitcoin ecosystem. That because they can collectively impact fees onchain, and build new constructs that don’t exist today that the laser eyed Maxis (who he correctly identifies as the original zealots of the “religion”) have to pay attention to them.
This, in my opinion, is complete fucking nonsense.
Christians didn’t pay attention to every tiny cult who twisted their doctrine and had zero success in recruiting new followers. They rarely paid them any attention other than to ridicule them.
Occasionally they killed off heretics who they thought were a danger. To be clear this is not a threat to Shinobi or anyone but again extending his religious analogy - when you’ve got guys openly admitting they’re trying to bloat the UTXO set and fuckup Bitcoin then would anyone be surprised if someone decided those people should be stopped given Bitcoiners talk about this being something bigger than themselves that they want to see survive beyond their lifetime?
That’s a much closer analogy to what is happening between the JPEGers and Bitcoiners than how Shinobi frames the divide.
The core religion, the zealots, are not being swayed to adopt any of this cult’s ideas. And the cult members aren’t being successful in recruiting anyone who would come in and actually force a schism - they’re attracting a handful of people who think they might be able to prey on some gullible people if they do fall in to their trap by reselling NFTs at higher prices to them; people who will disappear when the monetary incentive does.
I wrote my piece Goldbugs Aren’t Bitcoiners #note1z92…ejyj piece because yeah, I’m more in those circles. I tend to consume content and have friends that care about sound money hence I made that framing and I put it in the negative to Bitcoiners noting that to create an identity they will need to be able to define both what they are not, and positive identity traits that others would want to adopt for what they do stand for.
What is the identity of the JPEGers? We know their negative framing; they are anti-Maxis. So what is their positive framing that anyone would want to adopt? Shinobi barely attempts to define this because there is no identity there, they are purely opposition to Bitcoiners who can’t articulate a worldview.
Do JPEGers care about health and fitness? Family? Having children? Ending wars? Sovereignty? Destroying fiat? Separating money and state? Low time preference?
They don’t express any coherent opinions as a collective identity that people would want to adopt, because there is none.
Bitcoiners should mock the JPEGers as high time preference charlatans and they will succeed because nothing is holding that shit together. They’re going to tucker themselves out soon enough pushing stupid shit uphill, and Bitcoiners ought rub their noses in it severely when that happens.
Reject them, make them ingest the pain, delineate them from Bitcoiners and explain to normies why they are trying to convert people for their own benefit.
Unsolicited Advice to People, especially to GEEKS:
It is VERY VERY IMPORTANT & ESSENTIAL In Life to have ACTUAL irl human being friends!
I suggest doing natural (non-surgical) things to become as *PHYSICALLY* ATTRACTIVE as possible, smell good (not too much nor overpoweringly strong cologne!) and DEVELOPING *BETTER* SOCIAL SKILLS!
