I just published a new book, this one is specifically on Lightning network. From basic use-cases to explanation of how it works, and a few things that I see coming in the future (or hope for).
The Orange Flash of Freedom: Understanding and using the Bitcoin Lightning network
Bitcoin has created digital gold - empowering many people to freely transact using a non-inflationary, non-manipulable hard form of money. The Lightning network builds upon this innovation, offering a fast, scalable payment network, that can be used to instantly send and receive money over the internet. It is a basic protocol of the internet, similar to e-mail for communication, or web for accessing information or apps. Lightning network can be as complex as you need it to be. Installing and using a current generation bitcoin wallet that supports lightning can be learned in under three minutes. This book gives you an overview of various wallets, the inner working of lightning, bitcoin fees, and proposals to make Lightning scale and be an interoperable payment protocol, even beyond Bitcoin blockchain.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user, you'll discover that installing and using a modern Bitcoin wallet with Lightning support can be mastered in just a few minutes.

Public health messaging around the world should be “go outside, go for a walk, get plenty of sunlight, exercise, drink more water, and eat as little processed/packaged food as possible.”
But that’s *not* the messaging, because the State doesn’t give a flying fuck about the mental or physical health of the populace. In fact, it benefits the State to keep the populace fat, sad, and neurotic because fat, sad, and neurotic people are easy to manipulate. Instead of encouraging people to be healthy, the State perpetuates insane nothings that you can be fat and also “healthy,” and that mental illness is actually a badge of honor that makes you special.
So, I say to you, go outside, go for a walk, get plenty of sunlight, exercise, drink more water, and eat as little processed/packaged food as possible.
Subvert the State by taking care of your body and your mind 🫂 #note1v7y…52f7

Did you know an ancient Mayan prophecy references #Bitcoin ?
Did you know that very same prophecy references the solar eclipse happening TODAY, April 8, 2024?
Did you know the prophecy also gives a cryptic prediction about the value of Bitcoin today?
It may seem crazy, but it's true...
Here is the prophecy, as poetically interpreted by Spanish Conquistador and historian Alejandro Noconfíes Verifica:
--
In the shadows of the great Ceiba tree, where time intertwines with the whispers of the past and the echoes of the future, the ancient Mayan seers foresaw a day unlike any other. Amidst the cyclical dance of light and darkness, when the Sun's fiery chariot is devoured by the cosmic serpent, a prophecy of immense wealth and prosperity was carved into the stones of time.
On this day, marked by the celestial ballet, the age-old prophecy speaks of the "Great Invisible Energy," a treasure born from the minds of the ancients, yet unfathomable to them in essence. This energy, neither gold nor silver, but of pure ethereal construct, will ascend to the pinnacle of its destiny, reaching the zenith of its value, symbolized by the sacred numeral of the ancients, magnified a millionfold under the gaze of the eclipsed sun.
The prophecy foretold that the bearers of the Great Invisible Energy would come to see its true worth in the light of the darkened Sun, a value so vast that it could rival the riches of the mightiest empires of old. This moment, a sliver of infinite eternity, a date of eights, would mark a new era of prosperity for the bearers, as foreseen by the alignment of celestial bodies and the wisdom of the ancient seers.
The ancients spoke of a time when the world would gaze in awe at the eclipse, a cosmic sign of transformation and rebirth, heralding the ascension of the Great Invisible Energy to heights unimaginable, a testament to the enduring power of their vision across the aeons.
Alejandro Noconfíes Verifica
--
Clearly this prophecy is referencing Bitcoin ("Great Invisible Energy", i.e. digital money mined using energy) , but how do we know the prophecy is talking about THIS eclipse today? Simple: "a sliver of infinite eternity, a date of eights."
2024 is the year of infinity: 2 + 0 + 2 + 4 = 8 >> 8 symbolizes infinity.
April is the fourth month: 2 * 4 = 8 >> infinity again
April 8th, the 8th day of the month, very obviously infinity.
Thus, April 8, 2024 is "a date of eights" as prophesied.
And look at this part: "a new era of prosperity for the bearers."
Bitcoin is a bearer asset. Clearly this is another sign the prophecy references Bitcoin.
But how high will the Bitcoin price go today?
That's also simple to understand: "ascend to the pinnacle of its destiny, reaching the zenith of its value, symbolized by the sacred numeral of the ancients, magnified a millionfold under the gaze of the eclipsed sun."
Clearly, the ancients were referencing $1 million per Bitcoin on April 8, 2024 during the solar eclipse.
...
If you'd read this far without realizing this was a joke, I'm sorry....
The purpose of this tweet is to illustrate that "Technical Analysis" is about as useful as this made up Mayan prophecy.
There is one thing we know for certain: NGU (and you don't need a Technical Analyst to tell you that).
There is infinite fiat, and there will only ever be 21M bitcoin
Stay humble, stack sats, and be prepared for Bitcoin to rip your face off when you least expect it.

If the universe is everything, then it already contains every possibility, every pattern, every intuitive thing you could throw at it. To think that somehow you are wise beyond universe and this we call intellect, is very weird to me. You did not discover anything new with your intellect, you simply discovered a bit more truth - truth that was already there all along. We are born naive, clueless creatures. Our primary purpose is to become a bit more wise than the previous generation, to discover more of the truth that is the universe. We have children so we can continue discovering more of this truth. Some measure this as progress.
Personally, I think progress, or this discovery is the ultimate goal of humanity. It is not for personal gain, no prolonging of your bloodline. The individual ultimately doesn't matter. We can only progress as a collective species - by compounding our knowledge and advancing it one generation after another. Yes, at the micro viewpoint, the individual is everything - most progress in history is due to individual effort. But, if we zoom out, no single person's progress matters, if those that come after them don't apply this knowledge.
I say all of this knowing that my truth is less complete than many of others who discovered more. I should stay humble, stfu and learn more 🤣🫡 I know nothing. ✌️

This is a good time to review security protocols for businesses, families, and yourself. Create backups of key data and localize storage if possible. Research and utilize 'freedom technologies' if centralization concerns you. Maintain your connection to sources of sanity, such as family and friends, nature and grounding beliefs.

Saw an interesting post by @npub1hxw…40pf about the caldera at Yellowstone, also known as the next SuperVolcano:
https://x.com/BitcoinPierre/status/1776980280395387260
Basically, these things pop every 600K years, and this one is overdue and already indicating serious seismic activity. When they do blow, it’s catastrophic for mammals within a 5K mile radius because the ash covers the sky for years, crops don’t grow, etc.
Global cooling in an instant.
But it could be 20 years from now or 1,000, we don’t know, and if it’s the latter the only real fix is to tap that massive pool of energy for use. No one’s going to undertake an engineering project at that scale without big incentives, but it does make sense for miners to tap the surface energy to mine, and then incrementally increase the amount they tap until they’re making so much BTC from mining they siphon over larger and larger amounts and innovate more and more to do so.
Got me thinking BTC is the only way to a Type-2 civilization, and harnessing the caldera is a first step to become fully Type-1.

For all new users, Nostr isn't exactly the most stable platform in the world, so be prepared to back up your profiles every so often, because your followers can be erased out of nowhere. Once a week or after a significant number of people have followed you should be good enough. I recommend backing up on BOTH websites, not just one, as NostrSync has already failed me once in the past. And remember, there are no mods, you are responsible for your keys, for your profiles and for the moderation of your own feed.
#Nostr

The #Bitcoin halving is usually associated with a surge in price as it slowly creeps towards absolute scarcity.
For some reason it seems group thinkers are convinced this time will be less dramatic than 2020. They think a 5x is impossible. They think long term holders will lead to reduced volatility…
They are in for just as big of a shock as supply. 😉
Long term holders don’t care about helping volatility. Long term holders, well at least the smart ones, won’t sell just because #Bitcoin is overvalued in the current cycle. As it’s still severely undervalued when you look at future cycles.
I think long term holders will be indifferent to fiat price volatility because they realize 1 #BTC = 1 #BTC.
I’m still expecting something more dramatic than 2020. Something so dramatic we invalidate the presumption of Diminishing returns and all other models. I would not be surprised if S2F seems to get re-validated, PlanB’s background was more associated with institutional investors than emotion filled retail investors.
Emotions are hard to quantify; I assume the institutions are bringing NONE. They won’t get shaken out, and they won’t stop. In fact they will start to increase their recommended allocations…
I haven’t seen any evidence that this cycle is going to be smaller than the last. Why is everyone acting like this time will be the same WHEN ITS ALREADY DIFFERENT (ATH before halving)
“Meh, meh, meh, priced in” 🤡
SHUT YOUR FACE. Normies have barely started asking about it unless I bring it up. “$70k?!😧😰”
ETFs haven’t even started pushing/soliciting yet. What we have seen is interested clients gaining exposure. We haven’t seen all the sheeple who will invest in #Bitcoin because daddy Fink says so.
Sheeple might be sheep, but their pockets are deep.
You will find me anywhere but the sidelines.

Not copper. Red.
I believe that Bitcoiners have a special relationship with the concept we refer to as "truth."
I'm not saying that we are more honest than others.
But we appreciate more than most others being able to verify the correctness of something.
For instance, we like the fact that everyone can verify the software code as well as each and every transaction.
Nothing is hidden.
Everything is in the open.
We value that we don't have to trust someone who says that "Everything is A-OK."
It's possible for everyone to check things out, without having to ask anyone for permission.
I have had the same fascination with the concept of truth as long as I can remember.
Like my father, I have also always been curious about how things work.
He had an amazing talent for understanding technologies.
My grandmother once told me a wonderful story from when he was a kid.
I think he was 12-13 years old.
He sat by the kitchen table and picked apart a mechanical sleep alarm clock, while he carefully studied how the pieces functioned together.
After he had taken it all apart, he patiently reassembled it.
It must have been very satisfactory for him to wind it up and hear the ticking.
The final test was the alarm bell.
"Ring ring ring!"
It worked perfectly.
My father had verified the truth about how the alarm clock worked.
In the 1980s he became a computer engineer.
I remember him sitting for hours in front of his PC, and how he used to fill up all empty spaces in the basement and his home office with all kinds of computer hardware.
He passed away much too early due to cancer in 2011.
Although I didn't inherit my father's understanding of technology, I got the same passion for diving deep into things, into the very core, and for understanding how things worked.
Social subjects and books have been two of my main interests, which is something I have from my mother.
She has always questioned things, and I'm exactly the same.
I discovered at a very young age how important it is to accept the truth.
I went to kindergarten from I was about two or thee years old.
When I was four, I was moved out of the unit with the small kids and to the unit with the big kids.
Some of the older kids started bullying me.
They shouted:
“Rune has red hair, Rune has red hair.”
The people who worked there were unable to help me.
So, I found myself in a hopeless, prison-like situation.
I complained to my mother, and told her that I wouldn’t go there anymore.
She tried to comfort me, and said:
“It isn’t true what those kids say. You don't have red hair, it's copper brown, and it's beautiful."
The only problem was, this couldn't solve a damn thing with the bullying.
And of course, it didn't.
The day after, I went to the kindergarten as usual, and the bullies pushed on.
It's quite possible that I tried to yell back at them:
"It's not red, it's copper brown!"
If I did, it probably just made things worse, because it would be a confirmation to them that their bullying had the intended effect on me.
However, something must have clicked inside me that day.
When I came home, I met my mother in the entrance.
I ripped the beanie off my head, and shouted angrily to her:
“No, mama, look at this! It’s true - my hair is red - just see for yourself!"
When I came back to the kindergarten the next day, I had accepted my faith.
They had blond, brown or black hair.
My hair was red.
These were facts, nothing more.
They noticed that I suddenly was OK with it.
And then they lost all interest in bullying me.
Accepting the truth had made me impervious to their insults.
My mother told me this story many times, when I was a child, and also after I became a grown-up man.
She says she's convinced that it was a life-changing experience for me, and that it would shape my personality.
Looking back, I think I realized that ignoring the truth comes at a significant cost.
And just as important, I think the episode taught me that embracing the truth could set me free.
Today, it makes me sad to think back on the fact that my father and I often disagreed on many things.
We had very different ideas about the relationship between individuals and the state.
What started as civil conversations, too often ended in quarrels.
It felt like our opposing opinions on politics drove a wedge between us.
If he had lived today, he probably would have developed a fascination for how Bitcoin works.
He wouldn't have trusted Bitcoin, just because others said it's immutable.
I'm confident he would have picked apart every little piece of the technology, in an attempt to verify Bitcoin's promise.
Just like I try to do with the socio-economic aspects of it.
If my father had been alive today, I suspect Bitcoin would have brought us closer together.
He could have explained the technology for me, and I could have explained Bitcoin's socio-economic functions to him.
Possibly, he would have realized that I had been right when I challenged many of the things that the powers at be want us to believe.
It's just guessing, of course.
But it makes sense, because it seems to me that Bitcoin attracts truthseekers like a magnet.
And at the same time, Bitcoin forces us to search for the truth together, instead of quarrelling about the correctness of something that others have fed us with.

If you liked this piece, it would be great if you gave it a boost 🧡

BRAZIL IS ON THE BRINK
I’m reporting to you from Brazil, where a dramatic series of events are underway.
At 5:52 pm Eastern Time, today, April 6, 2024, X corporation, formerly known as Twitter, announced that a Brazilian court had forced it to “block certain popular accounts in Brazil.”
Then, less than one hour later, the owner of X,
@ElonMusk
announced that X would defy the court’s order, and lift all restrictions.
“As a result,” said Musk, “we will probably lose all revenue in Brazil and have to shut down our office there. But principles matter more than profit.”
At any moment, Brazil’s Supreme Court could shut off all access to X/Twitter for the people of Brazil.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Brazil is on the brink of dictatorship at the hands of a totalitarian Supreme Court Justice named Alexandre de Moraes.
President Lula da Silva is participating in the push toward totalitarianism. Since taking office, Lula has massively increased government funding of the mainstream news media, most of which are encouraging increased censorship.
What Lula and de Moraes are doing is an outrageous violation of Brazil’s constitution and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
At this moment, Brazil is not yet a dictatorship. It still has elections and the Brazilian people have other means at their disposal to confront authoritarianism.
But the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court are directly interfere in those elections through censorship.
Three days ago I published the Twitter Files for Brazil. They show that Moraes has violated the Brazilian Constitution. Moraes illegally demanded that Twitter reveal private information about Twitter users who used hashtags he considered inappropriate. He demanded access to Twitter's internal data, violating the platform's policy. He censored, on his own initiative and without any respect for due process, posts on Twitter by parliamentarians from the Brazilian Congress. And Moraes tried to turn Twitter's content moderation policies into a weapon against supporters of then-president Jair Bolsonaro.
I say this as an independent and non-partisan journalist. I'm not a fan of either Bolsonaro or Trump. My political views are very moderate. But I know censorship when I see it.
The Twitter Files also revealed that Google, Facebook, Uber, WhatsApp and Instagram betrayed the people of Brazil. If such evidence is proven, the executives of these companies behaved like cowards: they provided the Brazilian government with personal registration data and telephone numbers without a court order and, therefore, violating the law.
When Twitter refused to provide Brazilian authorities with private user information, including direct messages, the government attempted to sue Twitter's top Brazilian lawyer.
When I lived in Brazil in 1992, I was very left-wing. At the time, Lula and the PT's slogans were “Without fear of being happy”.
In recent days, I have spoken to dozens of Brazilians, including professors, journalists and respected lawyers. Everyone tells me they are shocked by what is happening. They told me that they are afraid to speak their mind and that the Lula government is complicit in creating this climate of fear.
Brazil belongs to the Brazilians. It is not my country. As such, there are limits to what I am capable of doing.
But I can say things that many Brazilians do not feel safe saying: Alexandre de Moraes is a tyrant. And the only way to deal with tyrants is to confront them. It is up to Brazil’s senators to confront the tyrant. And it is up to the people of Brazil to demand that their senators do so.

It depends...
Let's say you have 10 coinjoined utxos worth each 0.1 bitcoin.
When you consolidate all 10 inputs in a single user transaction, then everyone knows that these 10 inputs belong to the same person, this is new knowledge that wasn't public before the transaction.
However, it's not so obvious which other coinjoin outputs you have, and which pre-coinjoin inputs you have.
There are like 3000 "fresh" bitcoin joining the wabisabi pool each month, so there are hundreds of new "1 bitcoin users" in this month along. Since 2018 Wasabi had over 300000 fresh bitcoin, and even the first user could have coinjoined for all these five years, only to now make a 1 bitcoin consolidation transaction.
It is however not great to reveal your entire wallet balance by a full wallet consolidation, better to make two or three separate transactions that spend a small portion of the wallet balance.
Finally, with WabiSabi this isn't a problem at all anymore, because you can anonymously register multiple inputs in the same coinjoin transaction, and thus consolidate privately without revealing common input ownership heuristic. Payments in coinjoin is a further improvement.

So I wasn’t originally going to post but I decided to share the journey if this to FB Got this thing out of my neighbors yard for free , it’s been sitting for years but I just in a whim decided it couldn’t hurt to ask, I did and was told if I got it out the yard it was mine
Got it home and have began to assess the damage and needs to get it going under its own power , I’ll be doing most of the work myself with some little help here and there from knowledgeable friends
It’s already been quite the experience and I’ve only got a few hours of work into it
Not pictured is some work I did off camera , full tune up (plugs wires , filters, ignition coil , distributor cap and rotor.
It’s got spark, and air flow but I’m missing fuel as it will run on starter fluid for as long as you spray it but dies out as soon as fluid stops being sprayed. I’ve changed the fuel filters and checked for blockages in the fuel lines and have deduced that it was a pump issue , and boy was I correct
It has 3 fuel pumps on it , one in each tank, and one in line up near the motor.
Oddly enough the rear tank under the bed is brand new with a brand new pump and nether have ever seen a drop of gas in them I guess prior person to me got started on them and ended up not seeing it through
The main tank along the side rail however (pictured below) is absolutely nothing but trash at this point , luckily none of the fuel and crap in it ever made it into the lines past the filters so hopefully the injectors are still good enough to get it to idle
New main tank and fuel pump are otw but I fear even with them installed I have a power issue to the fuel system as a whole so that will be the next step
I’ll post updates regularly as progress is made
Stay tuned!!

The psyop of feminism has been perfect for them, in many countries they have managed to make many men and women hate each other.
Divide and conquer.
When you start from a wrong premise you do not get a correct conclusion.
They have started from the premise that men and women are equal and we are not equal.
You cannot make access tests easier for women in the case of firefighters, police or army, because fire or bullets do not distinguish between men and women. That is not equality, in the same way that gender quotas are not equality, that is positive discrimination.
Why don't we do the same for jobs where mostly women work?
Women and men are not equal, we are different and complementary. We have to accept the nature of each one, women are better in some things and men in others. We have to have the same rights as people, but not to benefit and belittle the other gender, which is what is currently happening.
The only thing that is sought with the current feminism is to create artificial roles, masculinize women and feminize men. When you make a duck behave like a cat, the only thing that can happen are bad things, it is an imbalance, perverting mother nature.
Whoever is a parent knows that girls behave like girls and boys like boys, without you influencing them.
The ultimate goal is to weaken society to obey, maybe you are not ready to understand it but accept it, men go to war, not women.
- Feminism
- Wokism
- Climate change
- Covid
- War
- CBDC
Those are their weapons.

Data from my country:
Around 40 women a year die at the hands of their partners. A ministry is created and a budget of 600 million is granted in the last year and rising. All men are abusers until proven otherwise.
As a fact, more than 300 people die every year in domestic accidents.
The number of suicides amounts to more than 4000 people a year, more than 90% of whom are men. This is not discussed and there is no budget.
More than 90% of the homeless are men, this does not matter either.
In the news they only report when a father kills his children, never when a mother kills her children. The statistics say that in more than 70% it is the mothers who kill the children, this is silenced.
Evidently, the economic ostracism that fathers suffer in comparison to mothers when they divorce is also silenced.
And so I could go on and on, or for example as in the work is abused fallacies such as women earn less, without going any further, a few years ago, I had to attend a meeting where they demanded a wage increase for women because they earned less, I had access to all the payrolls and obviously it was a lie.
It's all so ridiculous, politicians create problems where there are none, they should go to Saudi Arabia where women do have problems.

Possibly my favorite thing about bitcoin is how it demonstrates the distinction between divine and human creation through the popularization of the term "fiat". We do in fact live in a made-up world, a world of artifice, constructed by a pure act of divine will. This is in fact a good thing.
But when man imagines himself on God's throne, taking it upon himself to "let it be" in rebellion to the original act of creation on which all the rest is premised, the result is a chimeric and mangled vision of what once was called "good".
The only way to reconcile man's agency with God's is through our submission to His transcendent Goodness, and the exercise of faithful stewardship and love for what He made. A rejection of "invention" in favor of discovering the patterns and emergent complexity embedded in reality.
Bitcoin is not a human artifice, it is a discovery and re-articulation in mortal terms, as his emissaries, of the deep beauty embedded in the world he gave us to rule over, for its good and His glory.

There are two main processes to produce reusable libraries (e.g., SDKs and the like):
The first is to build them along the way to building a full application. If you're disciplined about code organization, it's not too hard to pull out the reusable bits down the line and package them up for other folks to use. This has the advantage of using code that has already been tested in a real-world use case.
The other process is to create the library first, then use it as a building block for full applications. This requires more discipline at the outset, because the only way to verify the library works as expected is through robust unit tests. If this is done well, however, later development will go faster because you are free to focus on the immediate application-level problems, rather than lower-level problems the library has already solved.
Either way, this is low time-preference development. It is software engineering as a craft, rather than just a means to an end.
Embrace the craft.

Two things I’m now convinced will happen regarding #nostr, it’s just a matter of when
1) an explosion of new users, as centralized social media clients (like X) continue to censor, make poor business and customer decisions, and eventually implode. And as nostr clients improve, get easier, better UX, and appealing to mainstream (like @npub12vk…pugg with killer UX and wallet in-app).
2) as users grow, so too will government attacks against nostr-enable clients and businesses. We saw a smidge of this with Apple and @npub18m7…q955 but that was child’s play imo. Legal funds will be needed, similar to bitcoin dev legal funds.
This could be next year. It could be 5 years, 10 years, 20 years down the line. It will be interesting, and it’s very cool to be living through these times.
